  1. You're actually supposed to hide if you don't have fantastic defence. Otherwise you would be destroyed before you can get enough points. Combat is only one half of the game, tactics is the other.

It's one of those shows that really shouldn't be funny at all, but I can't help cracking up while I watch it. I love Takeshi's Castle too, probably for the same reason.
  3. Let's get all of the skills filled up to 99 before we think about moving the cap, which I don't think is a good idea anyway. It's difficult enough to get 99.
  4. You're way to pessimistic about everything. The economy is not in shambles, it is far better now than when the GE was originally released. Combat is fundamentally fine, it's what I see as a foundation for a far more complex potential combat system. Training a skill is going to run at a loss in any reasonable economy because there's a huge demand to level up and get at the parts that make a profit. Many skills reach their peak well before level 99, so there's potential. PvP is much better than the original Bounty Hunter, but it's still a work in progress. They aren't mistakes, they're unfinished buisiness.
  5. Defence should lower the probability of higher hits, and in general be more effective. Weapons with higher hits than godswords should have serious downsides in combat, such as degrading, or taking up armour slots, or self damage. The max HP should not be higher than 99.
  6. Joined. I'd really like to do an event with you guys.
  7. i don't know... oh wait, what am i thinking about. oh yeh! wilderness, everyone hated that update. and why put a limit on trading also.... not many people cared about real world trading. Huh? If you didn't care about RWT in this game, you may as well not care about the continued existence of this game. Back to the point, why is there a need for this? It's difficult enough getting level 99s.
  8. I'd feel that Runescape would stagnate after a few months if we had infrequent updates, especially when there's the chance of messing up that update. Sure there's things that the game isn't quite up to scratch on, but there's potential, and you still can't deny that it's amazing how this thing still runs off Java. I'd like to see these updates in the future: Customisable interface, using click and drag similar to items. More variety of high level content, achieved through Smithing or Crafting or similar, not as monster drops. (Armour and weapon customisation?) A continuation of the graphics updates. HD version of music, in an MP3 format. Even better, make them full orchestral. Remix old songs if they're not good enough. Better area sounds, including footsteps, talking crowds, and sound modifiers such as echos. Big Combat Update, where the player must be more active in the battle, not respond to it. I'm talking combat stances and attack patterns, fine tuning spells, firing in the air into crowds, and so on. Also, combat animations should be more complex and varied. WASD+Mouse controls, with a switch for using the chat such as Enter. Sure, they're big updates, and should be widely separated over time with smaller updates inbetween, but I have no doubt that Runescape has this kind of potential.
  9. It's a very good idea to give one clay to teammates if they don't have an adequate tool and you do. As far as helping out your team goes, it's generally more point efficient than keeping all of it for yourself.
  10. Men on average cry less than women, that's a statistical fact. But you are going to get some more emotional men and some less emotional women who buck the trend, as is the case with pretty much everything. It's a result of social conditioning, men are discouraged from showing too much emotion because it's seen as feminine. Also, there's probably a biological evolutionary bit of DNA stuff that makes average female brains more outwardly emotional than men in there somewhere, although I'm not 100% sure.
  11. It would be a very bad move for the game. Runescape is meant to be freeform and organic in how your character develops, and any functionality to alternative races will only be a massive limit, not a bonus, which Jagex is keen to avoid.
  12. So long as the world survives the London Olympics, there's nothing to worry about. Boris is watching.

I'm from the UK, so I'm talking about gangs of around 5 - 15 people, unlike the much larger gangs you see in America. Having a group of friends in the neighbourhood is not illegal, and a very large portion of people do. It's only when crimes are committed that we apply the term 'gang' and the related negativity. I've heard that a great way to deal with them is have two or more police officers follow them constantly until they enter a private building/go away. It pisses them off to no end, and it's fairly expensive, but it's very effective in the long run. I would really like to see more use of the Tazer though.
  14. Wow, that's a pretty good reward. I hope a TIF member gets in.
  15. I think it's misleading, personally. And what's wrong with putting in a QC that actually says how much experience you need between what you have right now and the next level? It would be far more useful.
  16. Good luck with that one. Netbooks are always going to be relatively low power, they're certainly not for playing games beyond the throw-ins that come with your OS, so one that plays RSHD will be very expensive at the moment.
  17. Cool, I didn't know there was a TF2 thread. Anyway, I have the Valve Complete Pack, and I'm in the tip.it group, under the name [sGN] Gunny McShotgun. My original ID is will_holmes10, and my favourite classes are Heavy and Sniper. Feel free to contact me. :)
  18. [hide=Answers]Forum Username: will_holmes Age: 16 State (US only, do not give a city): N/A Nation (do not give a city): UK (England) Educational level: Post AS Level. 1. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion? Yes. -by choice? Yes. -What kind of worship? Christian. -Did you regularly attend this worship, by choice or parental guidance? Choice. 2. Do you consider yourself religious? Yes, but not devout. I am open to new ideas, and willing to rethink my own if I am convinced. I simply can't imagine the possibility of this world being as it is (with laws of nature etc.) without something infinitely powerful being behind it all. 3. Is there a god, gods, or a supreme deity? It depends how you look at it. I just think it's easier to think of it as a single supreme deity. 4. Is there an afterlife? I don't know and I don't think we could ever know until we actually die. I can't imagine no longer existing, but that's probably a limit of the mind. 5. How do you believe that existence came about? (in a nutshell) I believe God created the laws of nature, created the first singularity and then allowed it to become the universe. 6. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion that you do not consider yourself a part of? Yes, I attended a Hindu service at a temple, it was enjoyable but very alien to me. 7. What are your thoughts on non Judeo-Christian Western religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. So long as a religion teaches people to be better people, I think it's legitimate. After all, the world can be expressed in so many different ways. 8. What are your thoughts on Judeo-Christian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term and that both of these groups have many subdivisions that have radically different beliefs and practices. I believe in a singular God, but only because it seems more natural to me and doesn't have so many leaps of faith. 9. What are your thoughts on Asian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. See #7. 10. What are your thoughts on African religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. See #7. 11. What are your thoughts on South American religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. See #7. 12. What are your thoughts on Aboriginal religions (any native group that was displaced, such as Native Americans, Maori, Aborigines, etc)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. See #7, my knowledge is severely limited on these religions. 13. What are your thoughts on pagan religions (Wiccan, alternative, Satanic, and other non-traditional forms of worship)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Also note that many alternative and pagan practices are not affiliated with Satanic worship. I do not class many of these practices as religions. Many of them don't make sense and others seem to parody religion. 14. What are your thoughts on atheism, the belief that there is no supreme being(s)? Please remember that there are degrees to this belief, and that not all share the same thoughts. I don't understand the reasoning for Atheism, because every argument I see associated with it claims 'There might not be a god', but I've yet to see a convincing one which claims that 'There definitely is no god'. If you're going to doubt Theism, the Agnosticism is the more reasonable choice. 15. What are your thoughts on agnosticism, the belief that a supreme being(s) exists, but the individual chooses not to worship it/them (or if one is unsure if a supreme being exists, but does not outright deny its existence)? I'm very sympathetic with the idea. It's reasonable. 16. Have you ever publicly chastised someone who believes in a religion/school of thought different than yours? No, but then again I normally don't talk about it much with other people. 17. If you belong to a religion or non-religion, please identify. Christian. -Did you consciously choose to follow this belief? Yes. -Did you belong to another belief, by choice or force, before following this belief? No. -Did you personally research (as in personally in the first person) options before coming to this belief? No. 18. Is intelligence (not IQ, but actual intelligence) correlated to one's belief in a religion or non-religion? Keep in mind that intelligence can not be measured by any science, this is simply your judgment call. No, it's irrelevant anyway. 19. Does religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes. 20. Does non-religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes, in the way that it fuels religious debates and the search for truth. 21. Does religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes. 22. Does non-religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. It can, but there's far fewer extremist Atheists than Theists out there. 23. Please list your experience with sexual education, including but not limited to: lectures by parents, schools, religion, or non-education. Please do not list your sexual experiences. Quite a lot of lectures in school. 24. Have you engaged in sexual intercourse of any kind? Please do not list your sexual experiences. A yes or no will suffice. No. 25. What, in your opinion, defines "love?" Personally, I don't think I could come up with an adequate definition. It's something like the very strong desire to make someone else happy and be with them. 26. Have you ever been in, or are now in, a relationship? Yes. -Is sex involved? No. 27. Are you single/committed relationship/married? Single. 28. What, in your opinion, is sex's place in a relationship (or lack of relationship)? I think it should only happen when two people are truly committed to a relationship between them. 29. Have you ever partaken in an illicit substance (excluding alcohol or marijuana)? No. -if so, what? N/A -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of an illicit substance? N/A 30. Have you ever partaken in marijuana? No. -Do you habitually use this substance? N/A -Have you ever been "stoned?" N/A -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of marijuana? N/A 31. Have you ever partaken in the consumption of alcohol? Yes. -Do you drink socially or alone? Or both? Socially only. -Have you ever been drunk? Yes. -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of alcohol? Yes. 32. Have you ever regretted a sexual encounter? No. 33. Have you ever regretted using an illicit substance? (excluding hangovers) No. 34. Have you ever regretted using alcohol? (excluding hangovers) Yes. 35. Have you ever given serious thought (longer than 30 minutes in a year) to the existence of a supreme being(s)? Yes, I consider my beliefs regularly.[/hide] This was a really great survey.
  19. Surely they'd stop the sale of the lightbulbs, instead of forcing people to change them? I don't think that's going to be a contributor until they're actually banned. I think most people know that efficient lightbulbs pay for themselves over time, so they're willing to pay for the increased price. Anyway, most people have switched over their lighting sockets by now, so the demand's greater.
  20. I think you should read all of the books, they're very good. To answer your question, no, in some books/years Horcruxes are never encountered, and in others multiple ones are found/destroyed. [hide=SPOILERS]Voldemort intended to split his soul into seven, which is to create six horcruxes. He wanted his own body-soul to be part of the seven parts. However, he accidentally made seven horcruxes when he met young Harry, which is to split his soul into eight. Does that make sense?[/hide]
  21. Do it. DO IT! If I could I'd travel to Cambridge. It's literally HOURS away but I would ;( You think? I might send in an email then. I mean, it would be quite nice to actually find out what working there would be like. EDIT: Just for confirmation, do you guys think this would be a good idea?
  22. *explodes* Wow that would be amazing, it's perfect for me! I live not too far from Cambridge, I'm 16, I'll be applying for University there, and the experience would really help my application. Wow.
  23. I shut it down whenever I know I'm not going to be using it in the next hour or two, and restart when a program requires it. So long as you keep the startup sequence short (via msconfig and having a quickly booting mobo), booting isn't that bad. I even switch off the plug after shutdown to get all of the lights off at night.
  24. Today I made the switch back from Google Chrome due to too many stability issues, and arrived at FF3.5, and quickly added as many features from chrome that I could find. I have to admit, it's nearly as fast as well.
  25. 'fraid so. You're still using software which is inputting signals (in a roundabout way) which you yourself didn't create originally. But, hook it up to a voice to text program and it's no longer macroing. By the way, cool project. Does it have fingers and stuff?
