Today...
Technically late last night, but I got another phone call from my awesome friend at like 11:30 last night. She calls late usually, but I don't mind, because I really like listening to her stories about her day. This one involved taking some upper middle class kids she babysits to a thrift store to show them that they really aren't that bad. It was much more awesome when she told the story, but it seems like that is always how it it.

It's a trophy for your player owned house. It shouldn't, however, be called "stuffed swordfish" yet... "big swordfish" I believe is the correct one.

What I want to know is what the heck a blue rock is and why that guy wants to buy it so bad... EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up and apparently "rock" is the German word for robe. Not the type of word you come across very often outside of Runescape, even if you have studied German for five years...

I've never gotten any minigame exclusive items from them, and I've done at least a hundred runs.

Alright, one little off-topic post can't hurt... I've been around since before crackers and party hats, but could never get on for events because I'd always be at my Grandma's, with no internet access for about 30 miles and being in middle school, no transportation to get me there. First holiday item is therefore a yo-yo, though my account is a lot older. :(

Hello From Earth
I don't get why sending in binary makes a difference to sending in another form. Binary sequences still only represent symbols, letters, numbers, etc. of normal languages, so how is it easier or more universal than any other language?

Do you pray?
That would be because none of the books of the Bible were written after approximately 150 AD. If I'm not mistaken, each of the Catholic saints, who would have been appointed after that time, are credited with having performed a miracle or more technically had God intercede and perform a miracle because the saint(or saint candidate) asked(prayed) for it.

Today...
Today I saw Aerosmith's Steve Tyler fall backwards off the stage during a live performance in Sturgis, South Dakota. He was injured enough for there to be blood and for the concert to be called off. They only played about 5 songs. :( Also, right before this, what I'm guessing was the soundboard blew up and took out the power to the speakers so you couldn't hear them play. Steve Tyler is currently hospitalized in Rapid City, SD. You heard it here first, folks.

Do you pray?
I disagree. I believe agnosticism to be neither a theistic nor an atheistic belief. Agnosticism for many people means that they don't really care whether or not there is a God. They don't believe in a god, nor do they necessarily believe there isn't a god. The two are not mutually exclusive. For reference if you need it, I would be a theist. :wall: Yeah, stop trolling and give me some counterarguments, or at least some real thoughts. Well, for the first part of your argument, so would say(not necessarily myself) that you must ask God for these things, because by doing so you are inherently acknowleding His presence and power. Addressing both parts of your argument is my own belief, that prayer is very self-centering, not in the sense that you argue, but in the sense that it helps one to clarify one's own beliefs, desires, and needs, as well as put one's mind at ease. If you state these things in your head as if talking to someone, it organizes the thoughts in a way that could not be done otherwise. (Think of the phrase "Talk it out," only prayer allows one to do it silently, and to God). I also believe that a lot of this leads to prayers being fulfilled. If you know what you want, dwell on it in prayer, often times you find that you eventually come up with an answer. I'm not saying by any means that prayer is the only way to accomplish this, but I find it especially effective. I've often times wondered what atheists use as a self-centering technique. Many religions have prayer and/or meditation, both of which I find very effective, and I find myself wondering what others do instead of it.

What You Consider Attractive in Men and Women
This thread only caters to half the people in this world. :( EDIT: The thread title has now been editted. That being said, however, I really can't say what I find attractive in women. Since you can't pick and choose which characteristics come together, it's best to consider each individual person with everything they've got and decide then whether you're attracted to them. :P

Where do you hope you're going to University?
I ended up waitlisted at my Ivey of choice(Princeton) when I applied for class of 2012, but ended up at a so called "new ivey," where I've met people and done things I can't imagine I would have done had I gone to Princeton, and don't regret a moment of it. Plus I didn't really try too hard on the Princeton application, which makes me feel like I could have gotten in if I had really tried.

A thing to wrap your mind around
Just so you know, a lot of people are going to be a bit confused by what you are trying to say, I had to read it a few times before I understood it. Umm... as for the idea itself, why? It's a completely hypothetical situation, as no one really tries to do it, and those who force it end up in prison. But I guess I'll cut you some slack, my mind can be that random sometimes. I think it COULD be done, as you could use some elementary conditioning techniques to implant motivations, the "wants" of your situation. The rest is just simply the shaping.

Cartoon Network...
Well, I think the reason CN is trying live action stuff is that they are finally running out of dumb ideas. I disagree with the idea that all our old stuff was good and the new stuff is horrible, but also with the idea that that isn't true because we've "grown up" and are remembering the good ol' days. I think we're just remembering our favorite shows and putting down the stupid ones of today. We had our fair share of stupid ones too(Personally I'd say shows like Cow and Chicken and Courage had their fair share of stupid, with Ed, Edd, and Eddy on the edge). I really did enjoy Scooby Doo. I think Disney's Phineaus and Ferb is the Scooby of today. Looney Toons was good. Ben 10 today is pretty good. Each era has its own flops and its own faves. The ones we think are stupid now will not be remembered later, just like many of the ones we saw aren't remembered today. And to be clear, the live action scooby is a movie, not a series. The commercials for it have been somewhat unclear. I'm looking forward to it, just cause I'm a sucker for anything Scooby. And yes, I know this because I still watch excessive amounts of Disney, Nick, and Cartoon Network. Cut me a little slack, I have 4 siblings between the ages of 3 and 7 1/2.

Hostility against Religion
[hide=My answers]Forum Username:flyingjj Age:19(Not like it really matters, but I'm almost 20) State (US only, do not give a city): South Dakota/Minnesota(I go to college in Minnesota) Nation (do not give a city):USA Educational level: -if secondary or below, what level? -If at a university/college, what level and what is your major/minor course of study? I'll be starting by sophomore year of undergraduate education, currently considering a some combination of the following majors/minors: Psychology, linguistics, religious studies, mathematics, German studies 1. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion? Yes -by choice? Yes -What kind of worship? A number of Protestant/non-denominational Christian services, a multi-faith service, Catholic, and a Buddhist sitting meeting -Did you regularly attend this worship, by choice or parental guidance? I choose to regularly attend Christian services. 2. Do you consider yourself religious? Yes -Please explain in two or three sentences. I guess I consider myself religious, but could be more accurately described as spiritual, as I dislike much of organized religion. 3. Is there a god, gods, or a supreme deity? Yes -Did said god, gods, or supreme being create the Universe, according to your belief? Yes 4. Is there an afterlife? Yes 5. How do you believe that existence came about? (in a nutshell) God created it. 6. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion that you do not consider yourself a part of? Yes -What? Catholic services, Buddhist sittings, something else I can't remember at the moment -Your thoughts on the experience: I enjoyed the experience. 7. What are your thoughts on non Judeo-Christian Western religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. Not positive what is included in this designation. 8. What are your thoughts on Judeo-Christian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term and that both of these groups have many subdivisions that have radically different beliefs and practices. I follow Christianity. 9. What are your thoughts on Asian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. I don't believe in them, but am accepting of and open to people who do. 10. What are your thoughts on African religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. I have very limited knowledge of these religions. 11. What are your thoughts on South American religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Same as #10 12. What are your thoughts on Aboriginal religions (any native group that was displaced, such as Native Americans, Maori, Aborigines, etc)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Slightly more knowledge of these than the previous two, and will say again, to each his own. As long as people keep an open mind to others, I'm fine with pretty much anyone. 13. What are your thoughts on pagan religions (Wiccan, alternative, Satanic, and other non-traditional forms of worship)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Also note that many alternative and pagan practices are not affiliated with Satanic worship. Umm... I don't really know enough. 14. What are your thoughts on atheism, the belief that there is no supreme being(s)? Please remember that there are degrees to this belief, and that not all share the same thoughts. I don't like the people who try as hard as possible to convince those who are religious that they are wrong, or those who look down upon the religious, but if you just don't believe, then that's your choice. 15. What are your thoughts on agnosticism, the belief that a supreme being(s) exists, but the individual chooses not to worship it/them (or if one is unsure if a supreme being exists, but does not outright deny its existence)? I'm pretty okay with these people. 16. Have you ever publicly chastised someone who believes in a religion/school of thought different than yours? I suppose so -elaborate If someone is over-zealous about promoting their own beliefs and attempting to convert -what group were they? Both religious and non-religious what group were you? 17. If you belong to a religion or non-religion, please identify. I was raised Missouri Synod Lutheran, but don't really hold to a particular denomination at the moment. -Did you consciously choose to follow this belief? Yes -Did you belong to another belief, by choice or force, before following this belief? No -Did you personally research (as in personally in the first person) options before coming to this belief? Yes. 18. Is intelligence (not IQ, but actual intelligence) correlated to one's belief in a religion or non-religion? Keep in mind that intelligence can not be measured by any science, this is simply your judgment call. Of course not. If it is, it would only be because of those who do not think about what they believe, and therefore continue to believe it, only showing their own ignorance. 19. Does religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes. 20. Does non-religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Not for that reason. Those who are non-religious do good in the world, but non-religion has no unifying force to do good with. 21. Does religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes. 22. Does non-religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Not really, for the same reason as in #20 23. Please list your experience with sexual education, including but not limited to: lectures by parents, schools, religion, or non-education. Please do not list your sexual experiences. I don't really know. I don't remember being taught anything besides the basic health stuff(STDs, condom use, etc.). I've really just learned what I know along the way somehow. Sounds strange, but true. 24. Have you engaged in sexual intercourse of any kind? Please do not list your sexual experiences. A yes or no will suffice. No. 25. What, in your opinion, defines "love?" Love is being connected to a person in such a way as to want to do anything for that person to make them happy, putting that desire far beyond even your own happiness. That said, any definition beyond the experience is inadequate. 26. Have you ever been in, or are now in, a relationship? Yes, I was in a relationship. -Is sex involved? No 27. Are you single/committed relationship/married? Single 28. What, in your opinion, is sex's place in a relationship (or lack of relationship)? I'm not sure what's meant by that question. I do hold a singular relationship belief, in that I think sex should take place only in marriage, not for religious reasons, but because I believe it should be kept a singular experience between two people. 29. Have you ever partaken in an illicit substance (excluding alcohol or marijuana)? No -if so, what? -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of an illicit substance? 30. Have you ever partaken in marijuana? No. -Do you habitually use this substance? -Have you ever been "stoned?" -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of marijuana? 31. Have you ever partaken in the consumption of alcohol? Yes -Do you drink socially or alone? Or both? Kind of socially, but really only as a beverage I suppose. -Have you ever been drunk? No -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of alcohol? No, I've only ever drunk moderate amounts while in Germany 32. Have you ever regretted a sexual encounter? Haven't had one. 33. Have you ever regretted using an illicit substance? (excluding hangovers) Haven't used one. 34. Have you ever regretted using alcohol? (excluding hangovers) No 35. Have you ever given serious thought (longer than 30 minutes in a year) to the existence of a supreme being(s)? Certainly, very often. I'm currently making my way through the entire Bible, forcing me to consider my beliefs everyday.[/hide] Overall, an interesting survey. A little too long for me to read every person's answers, though. :(

Girl gets raped, and then disowned by Family
No, you're legally a minor. Sue wasn't being a know-it-all, simply responding to what Sue (and myself) thought was a pretty dumb statement to try and poke holes through a statistic. But I guess we could be wrong, and he was honestly asking.

Summoning question
So, I thought you needed to be 10 levels over the required summoning level to speak to and understand your familiar, but I'm only level 60 and I can speak to my karamathu overlord (level 58 summoning). What's up with that? I know certain familiars speak English and can therefore be understood no matter the level, but the overlord's speech is in () (I'm pretty sure anyway), like a normal familiar is.

I don't remember what my main started as, but I did once start a side account that I never actually took off with as a miner.

A Question about the Harry Potter Series (SPOILERS)
Hey :? We just don't use that word over here... You don't use the word philosophy? I don't believe that. Philosopher doesn't have the same connotations for Americans as it does for Brits. For those who don't know, philosopher has an old meaning referring to an alchemist. I think this meaning is less uncommon in Britain than in America, so it was changed for American readers to understand it better.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
True story. As my adult mentor says it: "We're not worth torturing yourself. We're mean and evil people." And she's serious. Sort of... Not all relationships end badly. Mine certainly didn't. At least I don't think it did, and I'm the one who got broken up with, if you can even call it that. Personally, I don't really put much store in high school relationships. Sure, you have those relationships that are just right, and everyone knows it, but for the most part I don't see high school relationships even helping you to find what you want in a spouse, because you likely don't know yourself well enough in the first place. Also, you don't have to date to find out what you want, and that way you don't have to deal with as much heartbreak.
