Temporary lack of penguins
Thankfully, it only worked with random people. But there were still plenty of em. There was a tipiter in forsakenmage chat who managed to get 3k penguin points. So there are more than one person who can get past the 3m mark. Hope they all take a ban for that, there's no excuse to be let off free.

Temporary lack of penguins
I was there last night. I didn't do the glitch, but i saw chaos ensuing. Basically there was a glitch whre some people could spy on the same penguin infinite times. 3 out of 4 of the major penguin hunting chats in w60 were full. Every penguin in the world was surrounded by a mass mob following and spying them. Many players had over 3k penguin points. Some p mods were there trying to calm everything down but it was to no avail. For over 2 hours people were hunting the penguins nonstop, accumulating massive amounts of points. I have a screenie of the whole thing on my other comp, i'll post it later.

Abortion: Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)
I'm a Catholic and I dissapprove of both abortion and the Church's threat of shutting down Catholic hospitals. I don't see the logic behind shutting them down. All it will do is add to the death toll as a result of FOCA. As much as I hate to prioritize human lives, there is no way I will stand watching my religion shutting down hospitals, running thousands of people out of jobs, killing hundreds of thousands of sick people, all to repeal an act that will kill innocent babies? I would prefer if the church made a move for a compromise, and not flat out "our way or thousands of sick people across the world are screwed over".

Magic Interface Features - 27th January 2009
Pretty much. It was a good way to raise potential. You'd wear some really good melee armor and flowers/rubber chickens as a weapon and just fight your friend for hours on end. You could do it afk because you were in combat and couldn't log out, you only needed to eat once every 10-20 mins, and you couldn't be pjed. Well, there's still air striking, so it's not totally gone yet. And if worse comes to worse, you can always just use bronze daggers to replace flowers. You'll hit a miniscule amount more, but it is a good idea if air striking costs a bit too much for hours on end.

Brawling gloves... Wicked SICK xp
Are there any harpoon spots in the wildy? Because I recently pked fishing brawlers, and I was thinking I could get some epic exp by combining sc harpoon with my brawlers. Thats 8x exp! If I could fish sharks, I'd get 660 exp per shark, meaning 23k exp per load! I can't fish sharks but the next best for harpoon is swordies, which would be 800 exp per fish. So if there's a harpoon spot in wildy, can someone give the location? I know of the lobster spot in 47 wildy, but since you can't use sc harpoon, you'd only get 4x exp which is 360 exp per lob.

Differences in British and American English
I lost 2 points on an essay for my English class for saying that To Kill a Mockingbird was one of the masterpieces of the English literature. I should have said English-language literature, because English lit=British lit, and the novel is an American one. Funny, because the class is called Honors English when all we read is American literature...

Ten people were killed Friday evening....
Funny, I don't recall that being a legit excuse when Bush was president. edit: i'm not making a dig at you, i'm just saying that the head of state *is* responsible for his country's doings. When he just jumped into office 3 days ago? That's a pretty bad sign for our nation if one of the first things our new president does is launch a missile.

Goat detained over armed robbery claims
Beliefs in black magic are common in Nigeria and other parts of Africa, especially in remote rural areas. So I'm sure this isn't the only case of obscure cases reported in the country.

Children dead in Belgian nursery knife attack
Why do we need a thread every time a child dies a gruesome death? As unfortunate as it is, that's becoming pretty common nowadays.

Google is God
Meh, I contain all those quantities of an omnipotent being, with the exception of #7. If Google is God, I guess I'm a prophet then? And that would make Yahoo the devil, Jeeves the devil's advocate, and Cuil the fallen angel. Wow, we could completely rewrite the Old Testament with just today's deities of the interwebs.

Baby Thrown on Ground & Killed
If the baby had still been in the womb, society would have deemed it fine for the baby to be murdered. I find it disgusting in either case. No child with the potential to live a good life should be denied that right just because someone had problems of their own.

Why lookie on the ground!
Heh, I saw you struggling at ge and on forsakenmage chat trying to get it sold. Very good on the drop! =D> I don't know what to say about the criticism calling it a fake. They seem to have a point. Care to explain it a bit?

Quick Question: Protection Prayer Strategy (Spot Protect)
It's mostly because players are afraid that they will mistime their click and take damage. A very reasonable fear, I have mistakes like that all the time when I prayer flash at spectres and end up with 100% of the damage coming from my own mistakes. Now for piety flashing, I'm not entirely sure about the timing but I like the idea. I'll need a bit of practice to get that down, but it will be very worth it at some monsters where damage isn't a huge issue and prayer isn't used.

Laws Should Still Be Quest Only
Laws were never quest only. The ability to craft them was. And it's a good system we have so far. Sure, prices have dropped. But making it quest only would only limit the number of buyers and the prices would drop even more because of weaker demand. If such an update was in place, all the low levels who didn't beat the quest would panic and sell all their spare laws since they can't use them and their price would drop even more sharply. As if that isn't enough, every f2p player would no longer be able to use laws. That would be an incredible inconvenience because you'd have to walk all the way from lumbridge to varrock to falador instead of just teleporting. But it would also crash the law rune market in f2p and once again laws would drop sharply. Don't forget, teleporting would also be ruined for every low level player in the game, which would mean pking could be disastrous and we would have less pkers. Have you even thought through all the consequences of your idea? They sold INDIVIDUALLY for 1k each. In bulk, they were always around 300 each. And in f2p you will still find players who desperatly need to teleport and would stand by a bank trying to buy a law rune for 1k so they could teleport. But if this idea came in place and laws were quest only, it would ruin the business completely because low level players couldn't teleport. This idea would screw the law rune industry over rather than helping anything.

Not Sailing you noobs, it's Exploration.
sailing/exploration wasn't a pre-planned idea that players discovered. The idea CAME FROM player suggestions. They considered the skill as a direct result of players thinking it would be a good skill. So it's not right to say jagex was already planning it as the sailing supporters said, but nor is it right to say it won't come out because jagex is considering it. So lets stop with the "i told you so" nonsense.

Best thing about tip.it?
My minute reputation on the site (or whatever strands of it are left). And I admit, I do care just a little bit about my postcount. And I just have to say, OT is my favorite part of the site. It's a sort of world separate from mainstream TIF where everyone knows everyone. You can be a complete unknown in the general forum and yet have friends everywhere in OT.

Pjers-Ruining RS PVP
In that case, it's called thinking ahead :P You could lose your chance of finishing off a player if you decide to eat when you're at 20% hp and he's at 5%. That's a tough decision in high pj areas: either try to finish him off when you have the perfect opportunity and then eat rapidly to survive pjers, or risk eating while he's low and hope that you'll get another opportunity later. That's why I quit no-armor fights back when I was f2p: the full runers would always sit there ready to jump on top of you as soon as you killed your foe or you stopped fighting to eat a little bit. Which is why it should STOP being "anything goes". You may be fine with any method of killing another player no matter how low and cheap. Believe it or not, some players don't like it when they work hard to get a kill worth quite a lot only for a 1-iteming coward with a dds to jump out and kill you with one spec. I'm against calling others "def noobs, prayer noobs, and eaters" because those are COMBAT tactics. Pjing isn't combat. It's one low player jumping on top of a much stronger player at low hp. Why should anyone stop complaining? If they want a change, they can speak up about it. They have every much of a right to voice their opinion as you do. If Jagex dislikes the idea then I guess it will never change. But I don't think they said anything about it yet, so why should we stop?

Quick Question: Protection Prayer Strategy (Spot Protect)
Yeah, it's actually a pretty ancient strategy. It's official name as dubbed by players is prayer flashing. I use it at spectres mostly. Some gutsy players even use it at boss monsters. Problem is if you're timing is just slightly off, you'll take a powerful hit that is pretty much suicide. I don't know how people manage to prayer flash at bosses. Almost every boss has multiple attack styles; it's quite hard to manage your hp from his weaker hits (and/or minions if you're in gwd or kq) while keeping your prayer flashing to stop their massive hits.

Person gouges out his eye and eats it.
He did it after reading a Bible verse? After reading this (being a Catholic) it took me two seconds to recognize a Bible quote that was very similar to what this man did. Forgot the specific words so I googled it. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. -Matthew 5:29-30 So it seems like he did it as an odd form of repentence to prevent him from committing more sin. He even plucked out the same eye as the Bible said. But honestly, does this dude even understand what "metaphor" means? This is why I disagree with fundamentalism. But even fundamentalists probably know when Jesus was using a figure of speech.

Plane crashes into Hudson River
It's quite interesting, I saw in the news this morning that stocks for US Airways and several other airlines actually went UP after the crash. I'm no economist, can anyone explain how that happened?

If life on mars was found....
I love how government critics downplay the strength of the government on the country saying it is weak and poorly run and then turn around and say it has the capabilities to cover up a massive interplanetary discovery possibly costing millions of dollars, all to cover up an alien race discovery. And for what reason? You can't have such a massive undertaking such a huge secret that not a single word is uttered outside of the people involved. Believe it or not, people willl want recognition from generations to come for being part of one of the biggest discoveries in the last few centuries.

What's with the asskissing?
^I agree. Back in my noob days when I didn't have any money, I would sometimes see an incredibly wealthy player walking around in f2p and I would kindly ask him for advice on making money. A few of them were nice, telling me to train up and kill some monsters or get money off woodcutting. But many of them were far too used to the low level kissing up to them and just told me to "gtfo" because the expected me to begin begging them. I didn't know that, I thought I was one of th few with the brilliant idea of asking rich players how to make money. I thought they were just being jerks by saying no. Eventually this ruined my opinion of high level players and I set a goal that when I was level 60+ I would never be like them. Well now I'm 114 and I can see their perspective. Whenever I log onto f2p, the beggars swarm. Even in members when I go to Clan Wars, the level 40s follow me and beg me to join their clan so they can wtfpwn an enemy clan. So now my opinion of low levels has been degraded. I try to take the whole thing with an open mind, but it's difficult when the asskissers and flat-out jerks combine.

Skill Capes vs. Quest Skill Cape
There are a few capes that I think are better than quest cape and a few that are just plain overused. Firemaking, woodcutting, fletching, fishing, and cooking are all capes that no longer have that "omg 99" appeal to other players. There are just too many of em. No skill is involved with those capes, just money and patience. And you don't even need a combat requirement, so you see a lot of level 3s with those capes that just kill the glory of owning the capes. The quest cape requires some pretty high stats in a lot of skills to meet requirements of the higher level quests. By the time you have a quest cape, you're likely to have most skills 60+ and high combat stats. Plus, skills like cooking and fletching don't involve defeating lv 150+ monsters and solving gigantic puzzles and running amuk around Runescape. But then there are some more respectable skillcapes. I personally think the slayer cape is one of them. Slayer is an incredibly long skill to train especially if none of your combat stats are maxed, and there's no way a level 3 is going to get it unless they have 2 years to spend killing crawling hands with rings of recoil. Summoning is also a good cape because the charms almost require combat to get unless you theive them from some certain chest I hear about, but their charm rate was nerfed. The combat skillcapes like attack, str, mage, and range are ok except there are a lot of pures with them. But all of this is just my opinion. I'm sure there are plenty of players who worked hard for some of those capes that the level 3s have ruined the name of and thus deserve more recognition. I've seen players with the audacity to walk up to a level 120 with a cooking cape and say "lmao noob skillcape" which I think is just stupid. Any 99 is good and takes incredible patience and possibly loads of money to get, but it's just that some capes have been overused and lose their appeal to other players.

Muslim Radicalism - Good or Bad? (Justified or Not)
I think radicalism from any religion is just unnecessary. I'm Catholic and I think that any Christian radicals, fundamentalists, etc are ridiculous and a disgrace to the rest of the religion. Islam is a perfectly fine religion. A lot of their beliefs are similar to my own. I have many Muslim friends, my parents lived in a Muslim country until they came to America. But the Muslim radicals are ruining the rest of the religion. For quite a while after 9/11, many uneducated Americans feared anyone in a turban with a beard or with a Middle Eastern accent. Even today, there continues the "random" security checks at airports. As yes, the typical stereotype of a person who's developed their opinion on what they saw on the news. Can you even count the amount of Muslims you know on one hand? He did say large minority. I think we can agree that there's too many psychopathic Muslims, even if they are a minority. How so? Just because they're the only Muslims seen in the news? The media thrives on stereotypes and feed off the fears of radicalism. Thats what makes people watch the news: to rationalize and/or clarify their fears. From what the media portrays, it seems like every religious crime involves Islam.
