  1. I admit, I used to be the ignorant fool. The one who would think that other people would donate to sto the disease and I didn't have to. I regret that now. I'm hoping to change and donate something. Hopefully this crisis can be ended once and for all. This is major news. But how come the news doesn't seem to say anything about it? Oh, of course. Because it doesn't affect us. Why report something few people will care about? I'm sure if the cost for this was tax money, it would be all over the news.
  2. On the prayer situation: anyone who whines about prayers is stupid. If you don't like the way your foe fights you're free to run away. The reason I don't usually use protect prayers is because when I do, my opponent runs. As for skulling, I never used to be a pro pker back in those days, but when I was a nooby 1 itemer I remember me and other 1 itemers arguing over skulling because we were afraid if losing our leftover food and pots  Hope the new wildy is "if you die you lose EVERYTHING" type thing and protect items have no affect. I've grown to hate those kinds of people, the ones who annoy the pkers with nothing to lose.
  3. lets say his numbers were 2000. His new name was the exact same except for 2001. And he was in his friendslist too... So he added his own account to his friendlist prior to being "hacked"? Sorry, I don't believe this story. You're either making it up or changing the facts What is weird about that? I was hacked once, and I added my account onto my friends list to see if I could talk to the hacker :| The hacker pmed him, not the other way around. The first post said the new account was created AFTER the hack and he started from scratch. So how did the new account appear on the old one's friend list if it was hacked already?
  4. If the new pking allows for multi combat, I doubt it will be used there. When you're being piled, you don't want 9hp healing or even 0. Lobs and swordies are consistant healers, they won't be replaced soon. Maybe for really low level pkers it's useful, cheap and pretty good healing, but for high level, serious pkers? There are better options.
  5. For now, very few accounts will be given up just yet. If the world seriously does go into a crisis where there's an international depression then yeah, most families will deem it an unnecessary expense. There will be some no lifers who will always be on runescape no matter how much money they have, of course. But if the economy continues to go down, then we might see some changes.
  6. 1. The reason this thread exists is to debate on the rule 2. Your brother should have known that talking about any kind of software that breaks the rules is, redundantly, breaking the rules. As for the thread, the rules are the rules. The only thing paying for f2p servers are the ads. If the ads could be blocked, less advertisers would bother and those who did would pay less. Free players have ads as their form of payment where the money doesn't come directly from their pockets. It's a great system if you ask me.
  7. This game is meant to be different from other games with such malls. The developers said during the RWT fight that they did not ever want real world wealth to affect status in game. Providing certain items to be bought for real money only leads to those with loads of real world cash (or daddy's credit card) to be massively ahead of other players. Besides, it leads to unwise spending, and there are plenty of no-lifers who would gladly spend thousands of dollars getting everything the best. Long before the RWT updates, there used to be a very famous pker who spent thousands of dollars on hundreds of white p hats and would go pking in them. Do we really want such a thing happening again?
  8. Wait, I'm confuzzled... is the update currently set to be p2p only? Really hope not. Quit mems two months ago, now I'm on f2p killing people in the red portal. I personally would hate for the update to be members only. The red portal just isn't good enough, the rewards from a kill aren't nearly worth as much unless you kill a ranger or mage with an incredible supply of runes or arrows. For mages it's virtually impossible to profit. I mean, there's always an incentive to convert to members. Killing players solo is much harder in f2p than it is in members. Exposing the free playing pkers to pking across the server helps them realize how many territorial advantages certain member areas have for pking (e.g. elf lands are good for easy getaways, some high spots are good for mages and rangers, etc). Such a huge aspect to theg ame like server-wide pking should be available to all.
  9. Of course. It's a hobby. And there are more expensive hobbies. The classic "it's not as bad as it could be" that an addict or criminal says to prove that he's in a good state (not that I'm comparing him to a criminal). Fine and dandy, but if you need an entire guild to yourself because you don't trust other teammates to work properly, there is something a bit weird about that... Most "no-lifers" of the internet who have no friends irl actually have loads of them online. But the fact that this guy raids by himself... I dearly hope he has friends in real life.
  10. Woot, I got siggied  Anyway I recently received an email that claims to be a petition from a teenage kid who wants 9/11 to be national firefighters day. The petition had over 300 signitures. I'm not sure if it's an honest email or one of those "sympathy" chains where the chain is passed by good people who think they're helping but really just passing a chain (kind of like those emails where a dying woman claims Yahoo will give her 10 cents for healthcare each time its forewarded), anyone else get this who can tell me? Hoax-Slayer doesn't seem to have it.
  11. I'm a teen and have only been here since late 2006 I think it was. So almost 2 years. Not a veteran yet, but definitely have seen a lot on tif in my time. Quit members a while ago, play on f2p on the weekends when I'm bored, and my favorite forum is OT. Why? as ididnotlol said, it's easier to have a mature discussion. I can't tell you how much I've learned about global events since coming here. It's an awesome place to be.
  12. I'm a Catholic. Everyone seems to assume that I'll be against every form of euthanasia imaginable. But that's not true. Basically, he's giving the permission that if extensive care is needed (a person depends on machines and whatnot to live) and/or money is running out, or large doses of medicine are needed, it's ok to turn them off as long as you still give the best treatment you can until inevitable death occurs. That's passive euthanasia, ending the treatment that someone is on. Active euthanasia is different, it's the Dr. Kevorkian style death, where a patient is basically poisoned or some other form to die. That's just hastening death. If you're not dependant on machines or loads and loads of medicines and painkillers yet, you don't need that. But if you are, it's fine to turn them off so long as whatever feasible treatment possible still occurs (which can include hospice care which in my opinion is the best way to "die with honor" as a sick person).
  13. The Nostalgia Critic had a great episode on anti drug commercials of the 90s, I'll get the link later on. In the late 80s the government had a special children's show on marijuana abuse. It was an hour long, broadcast simultaneously on all 4 major kids channels, and featured just about every major kid's tv show character (looney tunes, muppets, alvin and the chipmunks, and winnie the pooh, etc). The whole thing was hilariously ironic. Bugs bunny sees a drug dealer and asks "is that a joint?" HOW THE HELL does bugs bunny know what a joint is?!?!?! I feel so corrupted... good god, Theodore knows what marijuana is too? He's a baby chipmunk! Then there's some scene where the cartoon characters take on the bad guys. Winnie the Pooh gets his [wagon] handed to him. How effective was this? I mean, it's basically saying if you do drugs, your favorite cartoon characters will appear.

Blowing up the cement truck was the best thing since sliced bomb wires. Next week there's a special for slow motion things or something. I'm looking foreward to that :
  15. Some online sites have had the time of their lives laughing at the American economic crisis. Then when the news said it affects the global market, everyone shut up  I'm not sure if I'm old enough to invest (do you need a license for that?) but if I could, I'd buy a couple cheap stocks that wouldn't kill me if they failed and see what happened.

EDIT: shoulda read the above post that explained it before I posted :wall: Anyway, read through most of it and sat in awe at your words. They're incredibly true. It's great to see you back, the 10 days of your threads was the best 10 days in Offtopic history. You should do something like that again.
  17. (hide tags got screwed up so I'll just respond without the quote) As much as I agree with you, warri0r, the problem with some debates is that not everyone is exactly the ideal debator. There are good debators with facts and whatnot, then there are those who will never shut up about contradictions they googled in the bible, and how stupid a religion sounds and common sense is a lack of belief in god held by less than 20% of the population. It takes a little too much effort from the mods to filter out the junk flames and keep the good debates out, and even then it'll never stop. I really do want to have such debates, but I also think it's a bit unfair for the mods to have to sift through each page removing the stupid, flame-filled, or unreasonable posts.
  18. Never question unintended good things. I notice that sometimes when something good happens unexpectedly to me, the first thing I wonder is "why did it happen" and within minutes it's taken away. Like when I'm playing a videogame and it glitches and gives me invincibility or something, then I wonder why it happens, only to have my game crash minutes later. I didn't know karma is affected by curiosity :|
  19. Let's face it -- the lack of touchups was intended, Newsweek knew it would upset people, but hey, there's no law against it. I'm not a Palin supporter so I really don't give a damn (all politicians have wrinkles and facial hair. It's not something new). Newsweek said they gave such a close picture to allow the reader to see into her eyes and smile, but what that has to do with the rest of her hairy wrinkly face I have no idea. Newsweek knew people would get upset, but hey, more people will buy it now to see the scandals. I'm sure that one particular issue tripled in sales because of the controversy.
  20. Wow, they're not done with halo yet? A prequel and an alternat story line game... Oh, who am I kidding? Of course they'd go on with Halo. There's no way Microsoft is just gonna drop a huge profit series like Halo. I wouldn't be surprised if it became like Zelda with more prequels, sequels, middle stories, alternate story lines, and prequels to the alternate story lines, and sequels to all them...
  21. That actually happens quite frequently. Quite funny when you get a double headshot kill. Also, all you PS3 COD4 players, click the link in my sig and sign up pl0x! Damn. I suck at sniping, headshots are hard enough to come by for me... but DOUBLE HEAD SHOT? That's pretty amazing sniping in my noobish opinion. That would look freaking awesome in a killcam, you see yourself getting sniped only to then see you and a teammate fall to the same bullet at the same time.
  22. Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k The mental image for that is freaking awesome.
  23. Maybe I'm missing something, but... If blind people use their computer applications to navigate the web, why does Youtube need a button for it? Doesn't the program already do the job?
  24. Don't forget, McCain has had his share of contradictions as well. In one speech during his campaign he says "our economy is strong" to motivate the people. 3 hours later in another city he says "our economy is at risk". The Daily Show had a blast making fun of that. And dizzle, I have a habit of disliking anyone who actually votes for someone because of their race. It's nice and all to say "I lived during the era of the first Black President", but frankly it's ridiculous how many people will actually vote for him for his race. It might actually be a good thing the electoral college actually picks the president and not the popular vote. I'm hoping they might look deeper than his skin color.

My interest in Halloween has pretty much declined to the lowest. Two years ago I had a costume, went trick or treating with my siblings, and enjoyed the candy. Last year I decided a costume was stupid and just bought a nice mask. Went to a halloween party with friends, didn't go trick or treating. This year I didn't get anything, I don't plan on celebrating it. Maybe if a party with friends comes up I'll dig out an old mask to bring. But other than that... I'm just gonna be stealing my little sister's candy for this year
