- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
See, the changes to the dueling arena extended far beyond just ruining the most lucrative method of making money. The economy suffered (the novelty items in particular), and moreover, it destroyed many, MANY peoples' trust in Jagex. Two weeks ago, if someone had said Jagex would remove trading from the game, that person would've been laughed at. Now, people just hang their heads and mumble tensely at the possibility of it actually coming to fruition. That speaks VOLUMES about Jagex. They shattered the faith of their customer base, which is damning in the world of economics. The have instilled a certain degree of fearfulness in their customers... I know of at least two highly seasoned veterans (people who have played RuneScape since 2001, the beginning) who have quit because they were afraid of how far Jagex would go next.- Summoning being confirmed, other reasons?
So many people will be training Summoning in the first couple months after its release that the game will be horribly laggy. Also, as messed up as PvP already is (you can hit a 49 with a whip FFS) the release of something to aid you in PvP is just asinine. Ughhh.... This update is going to cause chaos. But then again, that's the trend with Jagex's updates, lately. They are so out-of-touch with their players that they cannot even begin to comprehend the side-effects of their updates.- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
Jesus Christ, you blithering fools. Don't get so hung up on that comparison... The point of it was to reinforce the stupidity of of taking unnecessary and asinine measures to correct a problem, without any regards for collateral damage. It's an analogy; get used to it, because you will see them and likely use them later on, once you start writing at a professional level. Just because you don't like an analogy doesn't mean you can strike through the entire argument.- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
I have a feeling that Jagex well relent and change it. That thread has over 20k posts now, which may be a record, given how long the thread has been up for. I realize that probably a fifth of them are spam, but most of the RS population is incensed because of this update, and it doesn't only affect stakers. It affected the whole economy, as the fallout crushed the market on "novelty items," such as Godswords and Bandos Armor, since staking was one of the primary avenues for obtaining enough cash to afford said items. Also, the prices on middle-class items such as barrows are on the rise, likely because of this update as well. People can no longer make lucrative amounts of cash easily, so the demand on less expensive items is rising, causing the price to rise.- Possibility of disallowing gifts / uneven trades?
Everyday people are wrongly banned for RWT. It's nothing new. :boohoo:- The money in your pocket
Yes, the BGS market panicked and I was able to buy one at 37.5. Now they are stabilizing around 39.5. Same with phats, although I don't have solid figures. You people who lost money on GWD stuff.. it's overvalued to begin with (and still is now). Should have seen it coming :shame: *shrugs* I honestly don't care anymore. This game isn't that interesting to me anymore... In fact, I often find myself logging on and scratching my head for things to do. Everything seems so unappealing, so I eventually log off ten minutes later.- Hidden Updates
This was a update months ago.. and it isnt a hidden update. counts for pickaxe too Wrong. You can still lose your pickaxe head.- The money in your pocket
I personally lost close to 15m gp from this update. I paid 23.8m for a Bandos Plate, and after the update, they are 16-17m. I paid 14m for tassets, and now they are 10-11m. I paid 43.5 for a ZGS, it is now worth 35-37m. I paid 23.2 for a DFS, and now it is worth 22.5-23m.- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
Come Monday, Jagex is going to announce the removal of player-to-player trading with the advent of the GE, which will have a price cap on all items of 10m. Enjoy your last few days of RuneScape, for the end is near.- 16000+ pages of rants
There are many pages in that sticky that are just idiots copy/pasting or hitting the post button six times in a row.- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
Jagex...listen to only themselves? The point of the article was that Jagex was messing up by listening to themselves, that their decisions were hurting the game. Put up reasons/evidence to support your claim. Undermine? No. Criticize their actions, yes. You take a very, very narrowminded approach that any criticism of Jagex is blatant libel against them. No. This is a very well thought out and supported criticism that Qeltar wrote. As for the 9/11 reference, it is an ARGUMENT BY ANALOGY THAT COMPARES THE U.S. GOVT'S ACTIONS TO THOSE OF JAGEX BECAUSE THEY BOTH OVERREACT AND HURT THEIR RESPECTIVE CHARGES Simple bias vs. stakers. As you mentioned in your first paragraph, it's a matter of choice whether or not someone wants to stake or "construct, or do smithing". Just because staking is particularly lucrative doesn't mean that Jagex should totally kill of that avenue of moneymaking. So somebody comes into your house, steals everything, and you can't get it back. Should I tell you not to cry about something you can't get back? Stakers deserve to complain, although the ones that simply whine instead of giving good arguments are a bit stupid. It's obviously not a whining post but a good, cohesive argument. Misquoting is a sin in arguments. Ah, here we go. You admit that you "choose to believe what [you] believe". After looking at your posts, this statement seems to mean that you're choosing to be closed-minded. /argument :boohoo:- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
The Pest Control update was needed... It was extremely overpowered experience and was not even meant to replace normal combat for training. This update was absolutely unnecessary and extreme overkill.- Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
Haha, I don't know what to think about [bleep]ex er.... I mean... Jagex, anymore. They have displayed so many times in the past that they are obsessed with money and value it over everything else, but then they go and do this... Which resulted in probably a good 15% or more of the RS population canceling their subscriptions. One would think they would've been able to foresee that result... But they probably just thought to themselves "Oh, they'll get over it. They always do *snicker*" Also, as you mentioned the senseless obsession to stop RWT, it makes me fear what the Grand Exchange will be like. Will they go as far as to remove player-to-player trades, and force everybody to use the GE? Will they set maximum prices for items, which are completely unrepresentative of the actual market prices? Honestly, nothing Jagex does anymore surprises me. They have proven time and time and time and time again that they are completely and utterly out of touch with their player base, which only spells disaster, regardless of what updates they make.- Stop rioting they fixed it!!!
I am all for a mass exodus of Pures from RuneScape.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Shame there wasn't a J mod around to perm-mute all of those childish fools.- How wierd are tornaments!
It'd be far better if it was like the old duel arena with unlimited stakes and options of Free for all, friends only and invite only to join. Also should be able to set lvl limits, whether it be combat or skill lvls. You decide on an entrance fee, and have your own private tournaments. Winer takes it all. would be far better than small prizes, waiting times, system problems and lvl 110's playing lvl 50's. I agree, totally. It's beyond infuriating to face off against a level 50 in the first round, have them hit you once for a 4 and poison you and then you kill them on your next hit. However, the poison hits you continuously, even if you are in the "waiting room." Then you face off against your next opponent (if you even survive the poison long enough) and they kill you in one hit because you lost so much HP due to poison damage. Oh, and having the ability to host private tournaments with your own rules would greatly benefit the "clan atmosphere."- 20 November 2007 - Duel Arena Tournaments and Changes
THIS is a problem worthy of ranting about, Jagex plans these updates for how long? And yet we get a poorly implemented system riddled with bugs. I don't see why/how they can't/don't get the entire staff(or 200 staff/players) to try these new features for a day because that would show up most of these bugs early doors. Indeed. Knowing Jagex, it'll be six months before they fix that simple problem, making it so that poison is cured after each round. That would take all of twenty minutes to program. -.-- burn staking burn
The RSOF sticky is dead. Like the last 50 pages are 90% "repeat" posts by spammers. :uhh:- staking DESTROYED
I am indifferent to this update. I greatly dislike pures (like this topic creator, who has openly admitted DK luring.) so the less pures in the game, the better. Also, many people don't know just how bad the RWT problem was.- Staking riot
I hope this isn't an omen as to what the Great Exchange will be like.... I hope they don't nix 1v1 trading and put a cap on how much you can sell items for.- Staking riot
More like, they remove all spots except shrimp and anchovy.- Staking riot
What world is that riot on? - qeltar and FooK-A-Ji
