8-Dec-09 Kuradal's Dungeon: It's KuraDAL. Jeez.
All the relevant information required to make an evaluation is available without directly receiving a task from Kuradal, unless I were to review the atmosphere inside the new dungeon or something. The new content is similar enough to existing content that there's very little I need to experience directly--I'm familiar enough with most of the monsters on the list to be able to know which ones I like to see and which ones I don't, and I'm familiar enough with the combat system to understand that +4 damage to every hit is good. As one who's skipped Greater Demon tasks for lack of a decent spot for killing them, I think I can be grateful for a new spot to kill them, for example. This update is an extension of existing game mechanics that I like to think I already understand, and I've reviewed it from the perspective of one who's already been through more than 70 levels of slayer. I see no problem with that.

Not sure what exactly you want me to test.

Living Rock Creatures (Slayer)
Any of the living rock creatures work fine. They're not especially strong in offense or defense, especially the melee ones, so you can just tank them with standard melee gear and do just fine. Your bunyip will probably overheal you. it would be worth mining their remains for living minerals as well, I think. I think they might be a little weaker to crush than slash, but their defense isn't so high that it's likely to be a big deal, so a whip should be fine...although I admit I've never done much killing there.

Duradel/Lapalok Vs Kuradel
KuraDAL, not Kuradel. Spelling mistakes grah! Lol. I'd switch. With a ferocious ring, or even slayer ring -> fairy ring, Kuradal should be just as fast to access, and you'll get more slayer points as well as the opportunity to use the new dungeon, which is nice. Plus, although you lose dagannoths, you get to add warped tortoises (much better than the terrorbirds) and living rock dudes.

08-Dec-09 Kuradals Dungeon
Living rock creatures are actually pretty nice, as they have very good drops, low attack and defense, and high hp. Good xp and profit, plus some mining xp. As for terror dogs, they're about as close to a teleport as you could ask for thanks to the slayer ring, so they're not so bad.

Ava's Accumulator
I don't know if the steel arrows count as junk, but some of the other items are steel bolts, toy mice, steel bars, steel nails...they're pretty rare, though.

Kuradel
The shortcuts let you reach the steel and iron dragons faster, I believe.

Quick Question about Bittercap Mushrooms
They're an occasional drop from the big roach soldiers. Not especially common.

Is SS worth making 5m for?
Anything worth doing is worth doing well, right? If you're going to train strength with a focused weapon, don't settle for less than the best. If it were me, I'd just train on controlled with a whip until I had enough money to buy the SS. My advice is to get the SS, train your strength to whatever level, and then sell it back again. You'll probably break even anyway.
-
Waterfiends.
SS and ZS kill waterfiends at pretty much the same rate, so there's not much reason to use the SS except that it trains strength rather than controlled, which is a minor advantage because you'd normally need to sacrifice efficiency to train strength on its own, but in this case you happen to already have an aggressive option on the optimal weapon. If the brutal green dragons bother you, you can bring a spade and 5 bittercap mushrooms to create a fairy ring that will let you travel to the waterfiends without passing by the dragons. The key is really a bunyip and Swallow Whole scrolls. Combined with an EE or SGS spec every so often, you can really cut down on food (although you'll still want to bring a few monkfish) and you'll need to use Pro Range less often. Piety will also go a long way towards speeding up your kills, so don't skimp on the prayer pots.

8-Dec-09 Kuradal's Dungeon: It's KuraDAL. Jeez.
Kuradal's Dungeon: It's KuraDAL. Jeez. Before I start my review, let me make this abundantly clear: KURADAL. With an A. Her name does not rhyme with "Duradel." It's DAL. As in "Dalai Lama." Kuradalai Lama: Freeing Tibet and kicking Abyssal Demon butt. Okay. Now that we have that settled, let's talk about KuraDAL's new slayer cave. Located in the Ancient Cavern underneath Baxtorian Falls, Kuradal, daughter of Duradel and our newest slayer master, has captured a variety of rare creatures and trapped them in her cave for her pupils to fight. What's interesting is that players can only access the cave during one of her slayer tasks--no camping off-task allowed. This solves the age-old dilemma of "I need to kill steel dragons and the spot is crowded with n00bs who don't even have them as a task." So far so good. In addition, monsters in the dungeon have a fairly common drop of a Ferocious Ring. Ferocious rings contain 5 teleport charges to Kuradal, disintegrating after the last is used up. When worn, they increase all damage against monsters in Kuradal's dungeon by 4! That's pretty damn sweet. Kuradal herself, of course, is also a slayer master requiring 75 slayer and 110 combat. She has a really great task list (the full list can be found here), assigning the Shilo Village standbys such as iron dragons, waterfiends, dust devils, black demons, aberrant spectres, bloodvelds, and so on, but she omits some of the less popular tasks, most notably warped terrorbirds in favor of warped tortoises. She also assigns some new monsters. Living rock creatures, for example--a very nice task to receive. Oh, and how about JAD. That's right, we always joked that slayer masters should assign you to kill TzTok-Jads...well, now they do. Kuradal assigns TzHaar creatures as a task, and when she does, you have the option of killing the mighty TzTok-Jad for a hefty 25k bonus slayer xp on top of your fire cape. Can I hear an AWESOME? My thoughts I really like Kuradal. Looking at her task list, there's very few tasks I don't like. Suqahs, hellhounds, and kalphites aren't my favorites, as they all have pure crap for their drops, but at least they're fast xp. And steel dragons aren't a task I personally enjoy, but with the new dungeon and ring to kill them, I don't mind so much. And the new ferocious ring has a pretty awesome effect. Now, I don't slay very often. In fact, I don't even have 75 slayer. But this update really makes slayer more worthwhile to train. On the surface, it doesn't give the sort of rewards we're used to expecting at high slayer levels--new monsters with unique drops--but it subtly improves our slayer tasks. It's not blatantly obvious, but Kuradal's task list has more profitable monsters and the monsters in her dungeon give faster xp in both slayer and your other combat skills, increasing the viability of slayer as a method for training combat. High-level slayers may be disappointed that the update focuses on the training aspect of the skill without offering significant rewards. That's a fair sentiment, although I might point out that the ferocious ring makes a very handy teleport to waterfiends and mithril dragons. Still, even though this new area may not offer much for those who have already mastered the skill, it drastically improves training for those who have not, and it does so in a well-balanced, interesting, and elegant manner. (Unlike September's godawful "woodcutting rebalance" which basically said, "Hey, let's add random new training methods that give super-fast xp and no rewards.") Bottom line I approve of Kuradal. You may even see me noshing on a wild pie or two to get a task from her. Free Tibet! (To give credit where it's due, that screenshot is from the RS Wiki; I just added the Dalai Lama head.)

Raising magic
Once you hit 86, until then try one of the other ways mentioned. You can also try Orb Enchanting, its decent profit and some what afk-able at the same time. Sorry if I have hijacked this post.. I apologise but I have been interested in the Orb Enchanting way for a long time now.. Cptbaker, how is this method "some what afk-able"..? Don't u have to keep running back and forth a bank to re-stock? I'll be deeply thankful if you could elaborate becos I think I am missing something here.. I am sure the OP would like to know too.. Thanks! Each orb takes 3 seconds to charge, so a full inventory gives you about a minute and a half of waiting at the air obelisk to finish 27 castings during which you don't need to click or anything.

What has happened?????
Prices are jacked up because there are only 100 or something stocked in the Rogue's Den and the GE is capped. Try using black knives--they'll buy better.

How do you tell someone no....?
"No solicitors allowed." You can PM me, but don't ask me to do you any favors. That's my policy. If I wanted to give you 10k or lend you my crap or walk you step-by-step through a quest, I'd tell you so. And if anyone PMs me just to say "Hi," I just ignore it unless they follow up with something meaningful. If you've got nothing to say, then don't say it. I'm not rude about it or anything. I just explain this to anyone who asks me for anything more than advice.

Quest guides? Vidoes/In-depth
I know that a few quests have NPCs that can recap you--the elf scribe in Within the Light and Ali the Wise in Tale of the Muspah + any quest that deals with Mahjarrat. You can also look at your quest journal for an overview of what the plot of that quest was.

Fastest route to a fairy ring?
Nvm I just looked it up. If you needed prayer as well, the monastery teleport of Ardougne Cape is fairly close to a fairy ring, just run east one screen. Ectophial teleport is even closer I believe, although not as close as a glory or slayer ring.

Charm Dropper
Lighthouse dags drop mostly golds. Chaos Tunnel ones drop crimsons though. Dust devils are pretty nice if you don't want to do waterfiends...they're good combat xp especially with a familiar, nice profitable drops, and not too shabby for charms.

Best barrows armour?
Really? I thought that the Torag's has a better defence bonus than Dharoks. That's a common misconception. The full Torag's set has the highest defense of the melee sets, but not because the defense bonuses are higher than the other sets--it's because it combines the exact same defense bonuses as the best pieces from the other sets. Torag's helm has the exact same stats as Guthan's helm; Torag's platelegs have the exact same stats as Dharok's; and all three of their platebodies are identical. In addition, Verac's helm and skirt have the same melee defense as Torag's, sacrificing some ranged defense for prayer bonus.

Best method for 99 strength
You could try killing waterfiends. They're not particularly fast xp, but you get amazing charms, so you'll get 90+ summoning along with your 99 strength. The sara sword's aggressive crush option happens to be the best weapon to kill them with anyway.

Raising magic
There are various lunar spells that are potentially good for training, such as humidify, superglass make, and string jewellery. One of my favorites for profit is charging air orbs. You can charge about 540 orbs per hour without a beast of burden, and each one is 76 xp and some amount of profit. (Something like 250k gp/hr profit last time I checked, although that was admittedly a while back.) I happen to like it because I don't need to switch spellbooks, it doesn't take lots of concentration, and it's right there in Edgeville where I hang out all the time anyway--some nice side advantages that make it comfortable for me personally.

Triangle iron ore locations
Those are both L shapes. The only triangles are in Ardougne and Piscatoris. Ardougne should work fine for anyone, though, as it's close to a teleport, not horribly far from a bank, has no requirements for access, and has no aggressive enemies nearby.

Mint Cakes
Most people have no idea they even exist. There are definitely people who might think it's discontinued. For example:

Mint Cakes
It's an odd merchanting sort of fluke made possible by their rarity. They've become similar to pumpkins and easter eggs somehow because there's a false rumor spreading (as one person already mentioned) that they're discontinued. People who believe the rumor were willing to pay high prices for them, so merchants bought them at slightly lower prices to sell to those people. By now hopefully most people understand that they aren't really discontinued--hopefully--but they've already established a black market value in the eyes of merchants and are being used as a sort of anti-junk, an item with de facto value far above its GE value that can be used to balance trades with other items that are undervalued in the GE. At least, I think that's what's going on. "I'll buy your item at GE price even though it's a bad deal for you, but I'll throw a mint cake on top of the cash to make it worth your while without exceeding the 60k limit." Whether this practice is sustainable is hard to tell, as there isn't really any precedent for it that I know of. Certainly the rising GE value is a built-in limit. The layperson can abuse this by using any mint cakes they have to dump any junk they happen to be holding onto. That's what I did--I have now successfully liquidated all of my junk thanks to Path of Glouphrie.
