If you must use ranged for slayer, chaotic crossbow isn't exactly the best. Against high defence, it probably is, but against lower defences, I hear Karil's crossbow is the best DPS. Rune throwing knives are the best in Kuradal's dungeon against the low defence monsters.

Nobody else excited about the hair? Also, I really really hope we get to choose from different face types.

Is it worth getting 95 prayer because of eoc???

Also, if you plan on meleeing with soulsplit, turmoil is much better than leeches. Soulsplit may be somewhat nerfed in EoC, but with all the extra damage you'll be taking, and with brews/EE/unicorns nerfed, soulsplit might be more important than ever. Also, anguish and torment are neat-o.- 11 replies

Agreed. This would be an awesome idea if there was much faster xp gain. In War of Legends (Chinese developed, Jagex published browser game) there's such a thing as "speed servers" where you gain experience, build structure, train troops etc. at 10x the normal rate. I think 10x would be pretty fair to have on a perma-death Runescape server. Perhaps there shouldn't be world-wide PvP, however. At least have a number of safe training spots where new characters can train in peace without getting ganked. If the permadeath servers were 100% PvP, I'd imagine they would degrade to a mass of level 3's killing each other just outside of Lumbridge. P.S. There should be a list of achievements that persist even after permadeath. Perhaps there could be a book that tells you all the quests you've completed, the highest you got your skills, what the best items you ever had were etc. That way you have something big to strive for that can never be taken away from you. Perhaps skillcapes themselves would carry over between lives. Imagine seeing someone with a quest cape on a permadeath server.

Myth confirmed. Vampyres are good at fishing competitions. -
Seeing as bots get "three warnings" I doubt we'll see any bot execution on release day. If, however, we do, then I suppose that means the whole thing is a sham, because there's no way they can go through three warnings on the first day.

Hell no, it isn't paying gp. It's like saying every minute you aren't soloing Zilyana is costing you money. I understand opportunity cost, but this is a bit too far. Practicing on Beta doesn't seem like a bad idea. The fact that you can die without repercussions definitely could help you learn. That's why Nomad is such a daunting boss; he has an incredibly precise attack pattern that can kill you with one error, and you don't get any chances to really practice against him in a non-murderous environment.

No, rapier and longsword have the same exact damage in Beta. The only difference is stab vs. slash. Please, don't give silly advice... The rapier is definitely better to get now, as EoC could take a few more months to come out. What about an abyssal vine whip? In the beta, I believe it's about ~50 damage more than a normal whip, so it's inbetween whip and chaotic. I don't believe there's any stab weapon with such high stats, save. So rapier would probably still be a better choice in EoC at first.

Best potential thing to look forward to :P I hope they're planning on changing the animations. The old-timey ancient spells really look out of place. Quite a shame, because they're still (going to be) the most powerful/most used spells. Also, we absolutely NEED new sound effects and hitsplats. I want to see weather or not my ability is hitting, or what's happening. It seems the blue shield "miss splat" has been totally removed, and all you get are a few barely noticeable sparks that imply a failed attack. The sounds really need to be more satisfying. When I swing a giant axe, it shouldn't feel like it goes right through a monster as if they were a ghost (assuming the monster isn't literally a ghost). Hitting and missing having the same animations makes sense, I suppose, but there needs to be sounds/visual to make it seem like it was blocked, or dodged, not just clip right through the enemy and do nothing. P.S. Chirping stun effects are especially annoying. Force choke sounds like CHIRP CHIRP CHIR-CHIRP CHIRP CHIR-CHIRP CHIRP CHIR-CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP. No exaggeration.

As for stuff you can buy, get bandos armor. They just added a helm, gloves, and shield to the set a few days ago, but just ignore those for now. They're pretty mediocre, just the chestplate/tassets are really worth buying. Also, Torva is the new best melee armor, dropped by Nex, but it's ridiculously pricey. You might want to get dragon claws, but they're supposedly going to be nerfed in the big "Evolution of Combat" (EoC) update. Remember when I said to ignore the full bandos set "for now"? Well, that's because once this EoC comes out, Bandos is going to require 75 defence, and have the second best melee stats in the game (next to the aforementioned Torva). But really, the biggest thing you should worry about is getting 80 dungeoneering. With 80 dg and 80 attack, you can wield the godly chaotic weapons. I'd recommend getting a chaotic rapier ASAP. If you really don't like dungeoneering, at level 85 attack, you can upgrade your whip to an "abyssal vine whip" for slightly boosted stats. Just ignore the godswords, they're still inferior to a plain old abyssal whip any day. I really recommend reading up more about the EoC, while you're at it. There's a beta for it that opens up to everyone on weekends. Interesting, game changing stuff going on there.

"Realistic full frontal nudity" Sorry buddy, but Barbie dolls aren't anatomically correct.

DHAROK IS THE MAN. DH set is totally badass in beta. The way auto attacks work now really makes Dharok's set bonus ridiculous. Every time I activate a single attack ability (such as slice, bash, bop, etc. not combos like assault) I also hit with an auto attack in tandem. As you can see, I'm able to hit over 4000. I even hit the 5000 vs. boss cap with a critical a few times during my tests. With somewhat high health, I'm still hitting over 2000 regularly.

Yeah, you get some of the items in weird places. It's all explained in their examines. Magic Saradomin amulet is obtained from the Zamorak boss Ranged Saradomin amulet is obtained from the Armadyl boss Melee Saradomin amulet is obtained from the Bandos boss Armadyl crossbow is obtained from the Saradomin boss

Goliath gloves are showing green particles for me... Looks downright SILLY! Also, herald capes ALWAYS have that shitty dark blue color on them, you can't change it. Jagex, you done GOOFED!

A wizard did it. He casted a spell. It's magic. You don't gotta ask questions.

I would like if you could earn the cosmetics a "hard way", but we aren't entitled to it at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore Fashionscaper, but looks=/=gameplay. If it gave an advantage, it would be unfair if it's exclusive, but when it comes to cosmetics, there have been "exclusives" since the dawn of time.

I think they should take a page out of LoL's book and make the solomon/sof stuff available to everyone but through a slower way or after a certain amount of time has passed. Eg. you get points for doing stuff like gaining xp, playing minigames, killing bosses, or whatever. And then you can spend them on what you want. Or after a year has passed, the items become free and everyone can get them. Or after a year has passed they are added to loyalty shop, etc. The current system is way too extreme considering we're already paying monthly. I mean, really. But doesn't the stuff in LoL give actual gameplay advantages? That would probably be why they're also available to non-payers, albeit harder to obtain. Runescape's microtransactions are only cosmetic, and don't affect gameplay, therefore there's no real reason to allow everyone to get them for free. Good point, no reason to only restrict them to payers though. We all pay for membership we should be entitled to everything. No, I think you missed my point. We ARE NOT entitled to getting cosmetic items for free. There's no real reason, they're entirely for show. Let the people who want to pay for them have them. It's only imperative to allow for an alternative free way of obtaining items if said items give some kind of advantage.

If enough people wish for a new patch Jagex promised they'll release a new game patch to make Livid Farm less shitty and time consuming. You just aren't wishing hard enough, guys.

Jagex: Thinking of Gambling Alternatives?
Cheefoo replied to RU_Insane's topic in General Discussion
Gambling will always be in Runescape. There's no way to get rid of it. Get rid of dice, they go to flowers. Get rid of flowers, they'll go to random emotes (seal, dungeoneering etc.). Get rid of random emotes, gamblers could always bet on how much damage someone deals with a hit. Just calculate the max hit, adjust the payout rates accordingly, and have the gamblers join your dungeoneering party so they can see your inventory/gear to prevent cheating. The best Jagex can do is make an "official" gambling casino. At least this way, the players themselves won't be profiting off the gambling, like the dice and flower hosts do. It seems 90% (asspull statistic) of the rich n00bs I see nowadays gained their wealth from dicing/flowering. In other words, they contribute nothing to the economy, just passing around money, essentially scamming people with rigged odds. A casino would work as a money sink, and the chance of some lucky player striking it rich would be alluring enough to keep people coming back and "keep them out of trouble". "Official" Runescape gambling is the lesser of two evils when compared to player-hosted gambling. It's really the only option at this point. -
They said EoC would be released "at earliest in September". As long as we get it this year, I'm happy. Better late and great than early and... hurly. I really hope they rework the sounds and hit effects. It still isn't clear to me exactly when my abilities are missing, and the sounds effects aren't satisfying enough to me
