I just wanted to send you some information about a “Bank of RuneScape” image which has been posted up on a couple of Fansites (Tip.it and Zybez so far from what we have found).

 

Many of your eagle eyed community members have already noticed but I thought I would confirm 100% that this is a fake. Please do let your community know if it does happen to get mentioned on your site.

 

Who would have thought a pet store would get used as a bank?! J

Oh dear, please don't be real.

The vaguely Al-kharid-ish style of that building + the mysterious question marked figure + the hunter d&d bts video with final blurb mentioned next week being about kharid rework and a quest they kept quiet. Makes me hopeful this may be some sort of quest that maybe reveals a long awaited npc (eg the king guy of al-kharid, especially as the silhouette styling and shape does kinda look similar to what they used for the blanked out portrait in the old manual in the places > kharid > personalites segment) and fills in lore about the history of rs bank and how it works.

 

I also vaguely recall a poll or letter or something ages ago that had some idea about the vault where the banks actually are, which again would fit with quest concept and this title like we get to actually go into the vaults where everything is magically stored, plus it'd be great way to troll us a bit with all rares and stuff stacked on shelves that we can't take.

 

But this is of course wildly speculative.

I'm just hoping it's not microtransactions again, I don't want to be able to "buy myself a loan for cash". Hopefully it might work like an actual bank for your gp, gaining interest and such and being able to get some loans or something would be cool.

It's really upsetting that everyone's mind jumps immediately to microtransactions. It really shows how much Jagex forces them upon us.

Kneejerk reaction: Selling GP. It would not surprise me in the slightest if it were the case.

Rational reaction: Wait, why do I care? I don't play anymore...

and here comes the final nail in the RS coffin, once you can buy RS coins directly from JAgex and exp necklaces from soloman, this game is dead...

Guys. Really. Calm down. You don't know whether or not it is RWT. Don't get upset about something that hasn't happened yet. All we know of it is one freaking image.

It's hard to think of what it could be other than microtransactions. I'm nervous.

yeah no need to get upset and use actual logic to see the direction that the game is going in and everything that has been done since RS was sold has been aimed at making more money and the best way to do that is selling GP, and now we have an image, so no reason to get upset...... Don't use your brain and see what is coming..... Even if this isnt officially it, there will be a day in the near future where you will be able to buy RS coins and bonus Exp items in game... and that is the absolute worst thing that could ever happen to this game

I don't see logic, I see a knee-jerk reaction from a group of paranoid cynics. We did the same for the whole 'Choose your Fate' mess, with the same reaction, "It didn't happen this time, but the next one will definitely kill the game!" It might be microtransactions, it might not be microtransactions. I for one am not going to pretend to know which.

I agree it is unfair to jump to those conclusions so quickly, but just the fact that so many people jump to those conclusions at the same time shows you the sad direction this game has taken. 5 years ago if a picture like that was leaked, I bet not a single person would have linked it in any way to RWT.

I don't see anyone saying they know for sure it's RWT. Everyone is hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Nothing wrong with that.

Part of the reason I think it's fair to assume it will involve microtransactions is because if you look at all the header images on the site, every single one of them either involves selling membership, offering incentives for membership, or microtranaction-like opportunities.

 

Plus this seems like a weekly thing Jagex has started shoving down our throats, so I'm not very optimistic about this update.

I think its a Jagex owned gold shop. The only real consquence of Jagex having one is that private gold sellers will just sell for a bit cheaper then w/e Jagex sells for.

 

Plus inflation from gold being created instead of being redistributed. I can go into greater detail about why this would act a lot like the Federal Reserve in the United States and cause even greater problems in the RS economy (if its popular) beyond that of "unfairness"

The reason why we're all assuming microtransactions is because they're advertising "The bank of RuneScape." We already have 'normal' in-game banks, so what other kind of bank is there other than one for microtransactions/buying gold? Sure, maybe you could think of other ones if you really try, but some kind of RWT gold bank is the most obvious answer.
