  1. It just shows that their primary concern is bringing old players back and raising revenue. Pretty much MMG is saying, "Herp derp, I need a million assurances for new memberships because there isn't any point of doing good for the current players as they are already paying memberships." This whole situation is getting pretty blatant, if we get wild and free trade back it will be awesome, but bittersweet knowing it's for the wrong reasons. Edit: I mean really, I'm pretty sure they have the statistics for the number of active players, they must know that there are less then a million. They've rigged it so that for the referendum to pass they will need to be assured increases in members and revenue. They can't advertise their own game or are unwilling to so they leave it up to players to virally advertise for them. It's a shame the company has become ridden with so much greed.
  2. If you don't have 99 summoning too, do this. If you do or plan to get it another way I would do barraging at Ape Atoll mixed with barraging in safe pvp, soul wars is nice becuase you can spend the zeal on exp. Burst until you can barrage. Bursting and barraging rock lobs are around 100k-250k exp/h in magic, it varies depending on what you burst/barrage. The fastest are the monkies under ape atoll that you chin. The most efficient if you want good side exp, because of the charms, are rock lobsters, and the most fun is save pvp. Your choice there. If you want something more afk, stringing amulets it super popular and not too expensive. It is decently fast exp as well, 130k exp/h. Hunter kit is also good but I don't have experience with it have heard it maxes at 200k exp/h.
  3. It wouldn't matter if the price caps were removed from the GE. The recommended price might be under but the market would still be able to function at a much more fluid rate. This is because the GE medium price would no need to match the street price for people to buy and sell at street price.
  4. Buy scroll of cleansing. 1)Buy grimy herb 2)Clean grimy herbs 3)Make into unf pots 4)Profit 5)Buy even more herbs. The beauty is that you profit enough to buy at max and sell unf at min. It works with everything but torstol. Oh, if you want to save your wrists I highly recommend you learn how to use mousekeys to clean them.
  5. I think you mean this http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=barbarian_training.htm#fish1 ;)
  6. Thanks everyone, I appreciate it but no need to argue, my fights with Bork last less then 20 seconds as it is with claws specs. It just annoys me to no end when I get there and realize I have 1 out of all my combat stats. The easiest solution is a FSH seeing as I already have one. Though if it will make people happy I can remind myself to right click that portal as well. Was mainly looking for the cause of the problem, I didn't have a clue. Thanks though, really.
  7. Yes, this makes rapier have high DPS on every monster. The only places where CLS are better are places where one would you a shield. There are only two such places, Solo Bandos GDW and Frost Wyrens. Rapier IS better then longsword.
  8. I understand that and I don't make it a habit to attack them but it's the type of thing I do without meaning to. So it's easier to just use a FSH and not need to worry.
  9. I'm extrapolating numbers from http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-spreadsheets/ and rounding slightly because there is no straight DPS for no armour, just down to 10, and I'm too lazy to calculate it precisely. From Chaotic Crossbow: -Rune crossbow is 1% worse -Obby rings are 6% better -Karil's crossbow is 10% better -Rune darts are 11% better -Dragon darts are 14% better -Hand cannon is 16% better So for one-handed duels, you're looking at dragon darts > rune darts > rings > any crossbow Thanks for that.
  10. *facepalm* That makes sense, time to swap my niet helm for FSH when doing bork. Thanks a bunch guys.
  11. By that reasoning pures shouldn't exist. Isn't the whole point of a pure to keep ones combat level artificially low?
  12. Okay this has happened to me a couple of times. I've gone to kill Bork and at some point in the tunnles my combat sats are reduced to one. What monster is doing that and how can I prevent it?
  13. For dags, you don't want to use a chaotic anyway due to extremely high drain rate vs. negligible advantage. For cave crawlers, sure, maybe. MAYBE. But it'll only be the tiniest bit better than the rapier, if at all. You lose a whole lot of melee DPS for that cannon DPS. In fact, hell, if higher attack bonus is that big a deal for the cannon, wouldn't the MAUL be best? What's the rationale behind choosing CLS over rapier but not maul over CLS? A balance between character dps and cannon dps? So for example the loss of character dps which comes from choosing CLS over rapier is smaller then the gain in cannon dps, however the same would not be true to maul and CLS? Just speculation, I don't really know but that could explain it.
  14. You've got it backwards. On a target with minimal or no defence (no armour staking), the difference between a chaotic rapier and a whip is minimized, but it is still a massive 10% (Source: http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-spreadsheets/). Granted, 990 hitpoints isn't a large sample size to test damage rates, but a 10% difference is the difference between long-term profits or losses. It's absolutely a requirement for high-risk staking. With magic, the chaotic staff is a bit over 5% better than the Staff of Light, which is almost 15% better than the old master wand. So here we have another chaotic item that would be a requirement for staking in its style, but the difference is half that with melee. Range has the smallest difference between the chaotic version and the best alternative. The chaotic crossbow offers only a range attack advantage over a rune crossbow. Since this is almost negligible with armour off, the chaotic version is only a smidgen better than its rune counterpart. The only reason armour/hybriding duels came under the spotlight is because when duel tournaments were active people entered with whatever rules. For range, how do faster weapons such as dragon darts or Karil's crossbow stack up against a rune crossbow on a target with no amour?
  15. @ Logdotzip Your caption, "That's 71.4 billion gold, trade price, in pumpkins alone, and there are a fair amount of players like this," implies that pumpkins are far more common then they really are. If you weren't trying to refute me then why have a caption pretty much contrary to what I was saying AND quote me. I'm not implying that you were saying something about pumpkins, I'm quoting you saying it. There is a screenshots thread for sharing, you are trying to argue something here using a picture. The problem is a picture like that uses inductive reasoning as a logical fallacy. It's the fallacy of taking one isolated incident and using it to create a generalization. You thinking that you could do that and get away with it, and then straight up lying when people caught on pretty much betrays your level of intelligence. Whatever. notevenmadf.jpg
  16. CatherbyCurmudgeon, Racheya brilliant. These things had been floating around my head for a while but I hadn't quite been able to put my finger on it as clearly as you have. It is very worrisome. All we can hope is that they in fact do have a new and far superior macro detection system ready like they claim. If they do though, I don't see why they shouldn't put it in place now and see if it can stop the current bots. I'm as worried as you are. I loved the old days but there is something a bit scary about Jagex going against all the pillars of what they stood for (article 3) in such a shoddy manner (article1). Either way, this isn't really in any of our hands, the decision was probably made before the polls were. The polls are just a way to get old players who quit involved again. Shame that they need to resort to publicity stunts when the way this game originally became great was through word of mouth, friend to friend. Oh, and I don't doubt that for the first time in a month or so the Times might get a little flak. *grabs popcorn* Goodluck.
  17. No he's not. A pro in this context is the best of the best which is defined in dungoneering by having the best exp/h. This tread is not about your personal playstyle, it is about skilling in the context of those who are able to attain the highest exp/h rates. I'm learning something for the day when I get to that level of play, you are spamming up this thread with offtopic arguments. If you want a mod to have to come in and clean up your posts it shouldn't be too hard to call one.
  18. To address your points one by one. My responses are in italics. Edit: Lol, while I was composing this Hedgehog beat me to it. His responses are a bit better too. :P What about the cheap and effective methods or the most rewarding methods (which means it will be usable with other skills). They are just as imprtant as the most efficient methods. The efficient methods are the most rewarding, cheap and effective methods based on the exp per hour gained versus a persons income, I don't understand what other methods you are talking about, they certainly aren't the most efficient. Anything else and you are just wasting your time. Your first statement is correct, but this is for approximately 50% of the F2P population. the other 50% have a intention of being P2P in the near future, so Smithing as a F2P gives you an advantage by the time he or she is P2P. Your second statement is also correct, but there are many people who use it, and feel better off that way. That is because like Firemaking+Woodcutting, Mining and Smithing are interdependent to each other, so it would make at least some sense to combine smithing and Mining while training. Well then f2p players shouldn't train smithing untill they are p2p. Really, it just wastes time. There are other skills which have similar exp rates in f2p and p2p, you should train those if you want a leg up. Also, just because smithing relies on mining does not mean it makes sense to combine training them or f2p. The most efficient method is never training them together except one method of superheating concentrated gold at p2p, there are no examples where training the two skills together is better. None, not one. Not always. I now train Smithing by making the final item from scratch, but I also am starting to train using the GE. I buy ores, smelt them, and then sell them. Not as time consuming or costly as other methods. For your fourth and last point, smelting bars is slow, experience. I'm sorry but once you get to higher levels you will be smelting for hours and hours just to get a single level. It doesn't make sense.
  19. Whoops, I meant rock lobs over WFF, don't even know what I was typing. So if I bring prossy then the Battle Robes should last like forever?
  20. Okay so waterfeinds then. What about Ahrims vs. Battle Robes? How many casts do Battle Robes last for?
  21. Okay, at my stats I'm wondering if it would be better for me to burst for crimson charms or camp waterfeinds for them. I value the mage exp much more highly then I do the melee exp as I plan to train melee with slayer later on. Bursting for charms will take up all my money, I'm wondering if in terms of time it is more efficient then waterfeinds. I plan to get 85 dung after 96 summoning and will be able to camp frost dragons so I guess the income to be used for the calculations should be whatever mine will be once I have a yak, rapier, ovl and am camping frosties. If anyone can suggest an up to date bursting guide with statistics I would be very happy, the AoW one is a bit out of date.
  22. you think people are willing to run? Running was only successfull because it was the fastest money at that moment. Currently runecrafting is terribly slow money. So who would "run" for you now? - even picking flax is faster money! The runecrafters will have to increase the amount that they pay runners now so that it becomes a viable moneymaker for new players. Honestly that shouldn't be a problem, I'm sure the runecrafters won't mind taking a loss to get the much faster experience from using runners. Runners coming back really will be a mutually beneficial thing. Higher level players can increase the experience on an abysmally slow skill and lower leveled players have a chance to make some good money assisting them. Everybody wins. All your posts have exclamation points in them, it makes me lol, I'm forced to imagine a person screaming everything you say super excitedly.
  23. Then they should train on stars with sc pickaxes. Look, mining will always be a click intensive skill. Ever ore you mine before level 77 needs a click. That means before level 77 for all mining, except stars, the more clicks you are making the faster your exp will be. However OP did not specify that they want the least click intensive method of mining. They specified that they want ores. The irony is that before you flamed Aeil for going away from the question that OP asked when now you are doing the exact same thing yourself. As for equating less clicking with a skill being more relaxing, I can tell you from personal experience that peoples tastes vary and some people are more relaxed by a click intensive method that leaves little room for other thought.
  24. Off topic, did anyone else read the title of this thread in a RA:2 Yuri voice?
