If you like to pk, get 95 prayer. If you like PVM, get herblore. Simple as that.

Most cost-efficient way to use smithing bars?
n64jive replied to AznPrincess's topic in Help and Advice
The difference being only 4m, I would do the easiest method or least time consuming method in this case. -
Unless you plan on using the money for something, including making more money, there is no reason to sell them now.

For the record, I have taken 3 calculus courses as well as statistics in Engineering. Like I said, there is a finite rate at which something occurs and there is the probability at which something can happen, which is often referred to as the rate. You choosing to ignore the context of the word rate when referring to probability shows ignorance. For instance, in Computer Engineering, a common rate for data transmission is known as failure rate, or the rate at which "bad" data is sent/received in a system. This rate is completely based on averages noticed during testing and is not finite. Just because the failure rate is 1 million bits/hour, doesn't mean any any specific hour there has to be 1 million bits that are wrong. There is also failure rate based on the production of integrated circuits, which again, just because the rate is 1% doesn't mean that 1 in ever 100 fail, but rather over millions produced, 1% (roughly) will. So in short, you are partially right in the fact that rate can occur to finite values at which something happen, but you are completely wrong to say that the term rate can only refer to the finite rate at which something happens, because in the context, it is referred to as the probability that the drop occurs. By the way, this is a widely used terms for many many games, so this again just shows your ignorance. Also the fact that you do not have a single person in this thread that completely agrees with what you say should also maybe make you rethink your stance, or maybe do a little research. You seem to stubborn to admit that you are wrong, and would rather just have a mod lock the thread...

How did you make the 50m in the first place? I find it really hard to believe that someone who likely spent 50-100 hours gaining 50m would trust some idiot with 80% of it.
-
You're really just confusing probability rate with finite rate. The words are NOT interchangable, however the word "rate" can be used in different contextes to mean different things. To say that someone is wrong when they refer to "drop rate" as the probability of receiving a drop is just ignorant. As has been said, when rates are used with probability, the term defines what a person should expect, and not a finite value. So as has been said, this thread is really based on semantics and ignorance of the OP. There are such things as context-sensitive words. Car and automobile are often interchanged, however some people (with similiar mindset as the OP) will get all butthurt over people referring to their pickup truck as a "car".

I would argue that the majority of the RS population bots these days. It's become a fact of life, and it's time for people to either 1. Live with it or 2. Find a new game.
-
The only way to guarantee profit would be to force the probability in your favor. No system of changing the bet is going to change the odds of the game, which are the mechanics that control the profitability of it. As one said, taking part in 50/50 stakes(which is what the majority of the population reccomends) is not a good way to make money. It's a good way to gamble, as you're given a fair chance. My recommendation, if you wish to gamble, is to set aside a basic amount of cash, and increase your earnings linearly (not exponentially) when you win. This way, you are paid off on a string of goodluck, as opposed to getting dominated by a string of bad luck.

Ip bans would not work because most home users have dynamic IP's, meaning they change pretty frequently. A popular botting software is becoming more and more advanced. They are constantly coming up with new ways to cheat, including a new release that will map out the entire world of runescape with the ability to control walking to and from any location of the map. This will allow for more advanced bots, which will lead to activities that aren't commonly botted due to the complexity to be botted (see slayer, boss hunting, clues, etc) As a Software/Hardware engineer that has recently experience integrating business models with video game engines(Unity), Jagex would not be able to make more of their system server side. Basically, any time you perform some action on runescape, you send a request to the server. The information is updated on the server, and an acknowledgement is sent back to the client, which then updates the client. Jagex has set this process to happen within intervals known as "game ticks", which occur at 600ms intervals. The reason this can be processed this fast is because the data that needs to be sent is small. If Jagex hosted all id's and such within their server, all that information would need to be sent "over the wires" which would massively slow down the game. The way it is now, the requests can simply be sent, the request are processed by the server, and a request is sent back, which updates the graphic's properties of the client.

I hope they add more uses to Aura that are not only member's Loyalty specific. Seems like a good concept to wasted on something that SHOULD be limited due to it's nature.

Whips will continue to TREND downwards, however there will be short-term fluctuation.

Could I get an explanation of how to best use MTK for profit?

Back from long break, where's the money making at?
n64jive replied to ItzDeffiliate's topic in Help and Advice
Hate people who recommend staking as a good source of money making. It's a coin-flip on a maxed account. With standard deviation, you can end up ahead, however you can also end up behind. Dicing is worse then a coin flip. Therefore it is a terrible form of making money. I feel like flipping can be good money, but I find it tedious. Frosts are frustrating, but it's still roughly 1m/hr. Other methods that people have mentioned are good as well. As always, bosses are good in the long run, however requires some luck. -
There was a glitch where you could make 12 dbolts from 1 bolt tip and 1 bolt (programming error). This has been fixed, but many people made like 50m/hr because of it. The fact of the matter is that prices fluctuate. There is a number of factors, but give it a week or two, and I'm sure that you'll be back to making a profit from bolt cutting.

I'm usually able to get assisted on 117 without needing to pay. Might take longer, but most people who charge scam, so I tend not to even mess with it.

Sorry, but this is just a terrible idea and really has no benefit. You obviously don't understand economics, as how would crashing thousands of players equity stabilize the economy and decrease inflation? Here is my prediction of what would happen, and I'm gonna guess it probably is pretty spot on. 1. Everyone that had rares as a large part of their equity would quit. It would be like the depression. There stock would crash. This would cause the market for all other items to go nuts and it would also cause many people to quit. 2. Everyone saving up for a rare, or who just had 100's of millions to billions of gp would now instead reinvest into other items, causing the inflation of other items. As you can see, your idea would actually destabilize the economy and cause massive inflation. At the benefit of? Making rare holiday items as useless as current holiday items. So to be blunt, your idea is idiotic and it stems from your jealousy of not having one of these rare items. Turns out if jagex re release them, you wouldn't really care if you had one anymore because they would be as common as everything else in the game.
-
Don't be silly. You'd obviously have to tick a check box that states you acknowledge you are only "renting" GP from Jagex. Its illegal to destroy federal reserve notes because the government owns them. Doesnt mean they can take the ones im "renting" without a [cabbage] storm. Like I said Jagex will get themselves in a legal mess should they start selling runescape money and if such players happen to get banned. All it would take is a simple right up in the ToS, and they would have their ass covered. If I go to a restaurant, purchase some food, and then turn around and start pissing on the carpet, the restaurant can 1. kick me out, and 2. refuse to refund my money. Same concept, different scenario. With that said, people could still sue Jagex for getting banned, and most likely would if they had invested some money in it. It would go to court, judge would make a ruling, depending on how he felt was right, and Jagex would likely win (unless there was lack of evidence to show this guy clearly violated ToS, which could happen)

1. I think the whole buy-back thing was a hoax in an attempt to catch botters on their old accounts making claims for their new accounts (the system was just [developmentally delayed]ed, and I haven't heard of hardly anyone being able to buy back their banned accounts) 2. Bots use client injection because they can. If Jagex started banning all injection, 100%, then bot clients would simply use reflection. It wouldn't be as versatile, but it would work just fine. When you create a point in click game that is based on repetition, then you are going to run into a botting problem. It's just how things are, it's not the worst thing in the world (like so many on this forum make it out to be) and it's definitely not worth ruining the game for (like Jagex has tried in the past). With that said, there probably needs to be something done about the bots that are a little out of control (sorce garden, frost dragons, etc). Surely Jagex could hire 3-5 interns and let them go to town on fixing this problem...
-
Speculation is speculative... Why wouldn't Jagex just nerf the amount instead of the actual rarity of the drops? I can not guarantee that they drop, as I have never received the drop, however it does seem to differ largely in comparison to the other claims of drops on the drop table.

let's teach you a little algorithm analysis. First off, what can you tell from 5x5 lights out? Their are 25 squares. the 9 inner squares all change 5 tiles. the 12 outer non-corner squares all change 4 tiles. the 4 corner squares all change 3 tiles. The worst case scenario is 15 moves to solve a puzzle. You should be able to solve any puzzle without clicking the same square twice. Hope that helps.

I don't know any parents who would get upset over their kid getting banned from a video game. Just saying, seems fake.

Recorded two hours today of frost dragons, getting 1.8m an hour roughly, plus range xp.(melee is maxed). It was very crowded. I don't have yak. I was semi-multi tasking. I'm sorry, but I value that greater then any other money making method. Also you can't say boss hunting is xxxx/hr because it's very inconsistant. I'm sure there is an average value over a long period of time, but were talking thousands of hours for it to matter. Furthermore, if you could say that frosts are more including visage drops, however I wouldn't be able to tell you that. I can tell you that in likely about 24 hours of play, I've only obtained 1 visage drop. However there have been cases of people receiving 2 in 1 hour, so whose to know what the actual drop rate is on those. Anyway, point being, frost are still a good money maker to other alternatives.

it's still like 1m/hr even with bots

[hide] See, that's the thing that makes this ridiculous. Waterboarding at a -9 or -10? I think it would be exaggerating to call it a -4. You're awfully naive about the amazing ways human's have invented to inflict pain on one another, both psychological and physical. Which is the crux of the matter - when you consider what other atrocities are committed today, forcing people to spend exhausting hours playing a computer game to make you money doesn't even come close to genuine "torture". I like how you automatically assume you know everything about everyone. Sorry, but that's just not true. This particular friend doesn't go to parties, and doesn't spend time socializing with his classmates besides the rare moments he has between classes. Why? Because he's at his home, either studying, or sending e-mails to his professors asking for clarification about the homework, because the professor stated "0 < x < 0" in the homework assignment. Just because some college students get off easy doesn't mean all of them do - there ARE genuinely hard-working college students who spend ridiculous amounts of hours, cutting into their sleep, just to keep up. Not so many decades before that women weren't people under the law, so does that mean that it would still be okay if other cultures treated women like that? Oh, wait. That actually happens, and we all get upset over it. Also, I'm pretty sure those children were not hit with metal pipes and allowed to have a proper night's sleep. I don't recall who said it, but I once read (and I'm paraphrasing here) "You can judge a society on how it treats is prisoners.". Actually, I'm pretty sure this kind of schooling still exists today. I've heard horror stories from my cousins still in Taiwan about how harsh their education system is recently, but they're quite ambiguous. The only more detailed accounts I have are from my parents' generation, which is why I said "a few decades ago." To be fair, the reason my friend's college life is so miserable this quarter is because his professors are incompetent as well as ridiculous. Normal college students don't have to put up with crap like assignments undergoing 5 different corrections because the professor can't figure his own class out, all done the night the assignment is due. [/hide] I was merely talking about myself. I didn't even see your post when I posted. Btw, I'm not some underwater basket weeving major, I am a senior in Engineering, which is one of the harder majors. But that is what most of us do. We work our asses all for the better part of the semester and then as soon as finals is up, we throw a rager. Sorry if I offended you, and sorry that your friend is an introvert. Also, I would like to point out that just because someone isn't hardworking, doesn't mean they aren't a good student. People learn at different rates, some of us are able to grasp a concept quickly, while others might be confused. Also, going a few weeks with little sleep is hardly sleep deprivation. That's called "part of life". Go talk to new parents and ask them about sleep deprivation.
