Bleh, Stony Brook is an amazing value school. When it comes to sciences, it's better than the schools you listed. It's easily one of the top SUNY schools. And Stony Brook Honors is very respectable. Also, if you like big schools, Stony Brook is the school for you. I don't know if you've ever been there, but it's HUGE. It's like it's own town. Literally, you don't ever have to leave if you don't want to, as it's got basically any store you need on campus. There are even shuttle buses to take you from class to class. Hell, it's even got it's own LIRR stop, so access to the city is very easy. About 90 minutes from Stony Brook to Penn Station. :P UB and Binghamton are both good schools though. From all the tense changes in your post, I'm still not sure if you're in college or applying to them. You keep switching from the past to the future. Out of curiosity, where in New York are you?

My thought is that if it is happening to you so often, maybe you should get your computer checked out and/or stop clicking on shady links and downloading stuff off them. Losing everything may serve as motivation for some people, but I'd have to say that it is discouraging to the majority of people.

Not detrimental? How is sitting in a chair and starting at a computer screen for twelve hours a day, everyday for months and after months after months, not detrimental to someone's health? And you say his time on RS won't keep him from getting a job, when it already HAS kept him from getting a job. He flat out said it himself. As for keeping up with his responsibilities, it doesn't seem like he has any whatsoever. :? I don't see anything wrong with living with your parents either, however, I believe that you should at least be trying to get yourself further in life. This guy doesn't seem like he's trying to do anything except play Runescape, nor does he have plans of doing anything as he said after 99 everything he will start working on gaining max exp. That to me is just pathetic. He is so lucky to have parents who support him and support what he is doing. Actually, support is the wrong word, tolerate seems more appropriate. His "fans" can use the "it's his life, let him do what he wants" line all they want, but don't try arguing that what he is doing isn't detrimental to him. The kid's got his priorities completely out of line and everyone knows it. Yes, I realize that priorities are a matter of opinion, but honestly, what he's doing (and many others like him are doing, I'm sure) is just ridiculous. And if you're going to use the "it's his life, let him do what he wants" line, don't expect there to be absolutely no jokes about the guy. I mean c'mon, he is a grown adult (at least by age...), lives with his parents, and plays Runescape all day long, do you seriously think he won't be the butt of some jokes, and appropriately? Get real. :P

It can definitely be seen as bad karma as well. Karma, in a nutshell, is basically "what goes around, comes around." Do good and good things will happen to you. Do bad and bad things will happen to you. Brag about how you never die and you'll die bragging. :P

That place had such good potential. A very nice concept really. Unfortunately, the way it is now, it's completely worthless to invest time and money into your kingdom.

That Knowledge Base is amazing. It's so nicely organized and damn convenient. So easy to look up the stats for things and compare them. Or to find the experience points for certain things. It's even got the max hits for each magic spell, including Ancients. It's a great thing they added. However, Tip.it is mainly used for the forums, or at least by it's "loyal supporters." And the Jagex forums have nothing on this one.

You worked at a fast food place for only three months and had enough for a car? Damn, how much did you get paid and how much was the car? ;o\ I used to tutor and coach lacrosse and soccer. The tutoring money was pretty nice, the coaching money was nothing special, but I did both more for fun than for the money. Earned around three or four grand a school year doing them. Other than that, the only other jobs I've ever had have been in hospitals/laboratories, but those were more for my resume and experience to help me in my career in the long run rather than for money. I usually volunteered/interned, but every now and then I got paid, which was just a nice bonus.

Wow, what the hell are you guys talking about when you say he shouldn't/can't be punished for anything he writes? That's like saying "you can't be punished for anything you say in school!!!11" About the invasion of privacy thing, it works a bit differently in schools. Schools are allowed to conduct unannounced locker searches or search bookbags and purses and such. It's perfectly legal to do so. I'm sure there are restriction on when this is allowed (reasonable suspicion, checking for something specific, etc.) but by the scenario he describes, it seems fine for the teacher to look through the book. Public schools are run by the state government, so the rules and regulations may differ from state to state, but at least in New York everything I said was true. Or was when I was in high school. Anyway, I hope nothing serious or criminal was written in that book. If it was just private thoughts, I'm sure your teacher has enough decency to not share them with anyone else. If she does, then you can definately bring it up with higher authority. But as for getting you in trouble, she has every right to do so. Shouldn't be passing notes in class. Besides, it's not terribly difficult to do it and not get caught. :P

You could hold a drop party in the Varrock Sewers for all they care, you just can't advertise it on the official forums.
