Pass blocking - Part 2 of Jagex's update for fools
Sly_Wizard replied to blacksimon's topic in General Discussion
****** **** *** ** *** ********* **** **** **** ****! [hide]Translated: Pretty soon all of our sentences will look this this!)[/hide] -
That's what I was thinking... Ah well... Guess it's time for me to go to sleep now. Edit: That password update, though, is a joke. What's with the moronic safeguards which, admittedly, won't work?
-
I predict Jagex's next update to be as such: --- Would you like to enter the wilderness? *Clicks yes* Are you sure? *Clicks yes* Positive? *Clicks yes* You do realize what you're agreeing to, right? *Clicks yes* So you understand? *Clicks yes* Then you may proceed. *Enters wilderness*

.::11 April 2007 - Olaf's Quest Slippery Bridge::.
Sly_Wizard replied to Latinoking's topic in General Discussion
It only took me one try to do it yesterday. The people who were complaining were too lazy to raise their agility levels. -
I took the liberty of translating this into English: "You all raise very valid points which I can't refute, therefore I'll simply ignore them all together."

Well, Qeltar, you've officially provoked me to respond (Albeit not on the RSOF, as the forum Nazis would undoubtedly ban me). Anyone who read your article would be led to believe that Runescape is a Hellhole filled with delinquent, amoral, psychotic, sociopaths. I know that other people have pointed this out to you, but I'd just like to reiterate the fact that you're stating the actions of a small minority of Runescape to be the actions of the majority. If you truly, truly believe that the majority of Runescape are scammers and the like, then there's no use in even attempting to debate with you because you're already delusional Anywho, I feel as if I must ask you what happened to your parental responsibilities? If you don't feel as if Runescape is suitable for your child, then don't let him/her play or let them play while you keep a watchful eye over their shoulder. It ain't that hard. Even though I'm not a parent per se, my girlfriend is. The only time she allows her son (8) to play Runescape is when she can supervise him. The aforementioned seems to be common sense (Though, common sense doesn't seem to be all that common anymore). Contrary to what some people believe, Jagex doesn't owe you anything aside from access to member features (Assuming you pay). It's not their job to baby their customers; Rather, it's the players responsibility to protect themselves (Or if the player is too young, then it's the parent's responsibility to protect his/her child). To take a quote out of your book, Qeltar, if you don't like the Runescape community then go find another game to play. Or, better yet, why don't you create your own game? As a side note, I have to say that I find your attitude on PVP to be laughable, at best. At least you're given a choice of whether or not to participate in PVP on Runescape. Most popular MMORPG's don't give you such a choice and as soon as you leave town or enter enemy territory, then you are free to be attacked by whomever.

I'm pretty sure I said this one page 7, but there are a tons of much worse things that you child could be doing than playing Runescape; Such as watching TV. If you don't want your child to play Runescape, then there's a really simple solution. It's called pressing the 'X' at the top right of the screen

Rule 2 Change: Should Luring be alloud?
Sly_Wizard replied to Lakitsym_Rose's topic in General Discussion
I believe you're missing the crux of the argument here :wall: I was bringing light to the point that, in the God Letters, you find explicit references to the issues such as luring and deceit in the wilderness (Both of which were condoned). Hardly. That's a cop out. I was following your disclaimer logic. There is no such God called Zammy. It's just a J-Mod (Which I'm sure you realize). The God Letters have almost always had a perfect correlation to Jagex's views on in-game issues. I'm pretty sure I said this before, but one more time really can't hurt. I thought I just explained this. The God Letters, in their time (And contrary to what the disclaimer said), adequately depicted Jagex's position on quite a few aspects of the game. Just check them out for yourself; Jagex's overall attitude has mainly been reinforced through the God Letter's. Oh, and I wasn't taking them so seriously. I was merely pointing out a point of interest which I'm sure many people would have overlooked : Why not? Could it be because you know that if people aren't forced into the wilderness against their will that they'll have no room to complain about being lured. It's not so much an assumption as it is an educated guess (There's evidence to support my claim). Instantly dismissing something because there's no concrete proof of it is purely evasive. -
Rule 2 Change: Should Luring be alloud?
Sly_Wizard replied to Lakitsym_Rose's topic in General Discussion
No, I didn't forget the disclaimer. They're called "God Letters", not "Jagex Staff Letters". Jagex roleplays in order to keep a certain-- How shall we say?-- Air to the letters. The God Letters (Actually, almost all letters in general) have been fairly consistent with Jagex's in-game views and policies (If you don't believe me then simply cross reference the letters against in-game updates). I'm sure you'll be fairly surprised. ...Of course, if you take the disclaimer as being absolutely true, then Jagex would love scammers as Zammy hates them (And, you know, Zammy's views don't reflect that of Jagex, so the opposite of Zammy's beliefs would have to be Jagex's and vice versa). Yeah... I'm aware of the bug. As I've always said, Jagex should simply fix that bug and then make luring legal against as, if you get lured after that, then you'll have no one to blame but yourself. Pee! Emm! Gee! Say it isn't so? You mean I dedicated all this time to worshiping a fake god? ... ... ... Yes, I know that Zammy isn't real. It does? That's new to me. -
Rule 2 Change: Should Luring be alloud?
Sly_Wizard replied to Lakitsym_Rose's topic in General Discussion
I know that no one will care anyway but... *Taken from God Letters #10* *Taken from God Letters #15* ~~~ So what three things have we learned? 1.) It's ok to deceive people for personal gain so long as you're in the wilderness. 2.) Zammy supports luring people into the wilderness. 3.) Zammy considers luring to be different than scamming. -
Should We Have TRIMMED Quest Capes?
Sly_Wizard replied to runescapeloser22's topic in General Discussion
I don't even think the quest cape should have been a quest of achievement. The highest level skill level you need to complete and skill is around 70 or so, and it doesn't take too much work/effort to complete all the quests. -
I read the article but I'm much too lazy to read the past seven pages of responses so I will say this: I'm pretty sure that your child could be out doing much worse things than playing Runescape (Such as watching TV lol). If you find Runscape to be that bad of an environment for young children, then don't allow them to play. And, before you say it, I'm ethically challenged and morally degenerate (Or so you believe).

Nice one Jagex-Quote DIRECTLY from Andrew
Sly_Wizard replied to Coandca5's topic in General Discussion
This entire argument would be moot if Jagex would work on not making their own client * monkey balls. In the time they've spent changing/amending the rules and coming up with useless quests, I'm pretty sure that they could have created a decent client by now. -
About time mages and rangers have specs?
Sly_Wizard replied to retaxis2's topic in General Discussion
But, you see, Runescape is different. All PVP combat basically boils down to fighting at close range (Essentially melee). Rarely, if ever, do you see a ranger shooting over an obstacle without his opponent fighting him back. This just doesn't happen. Runescape PVP is, for lack of a better word, a war of attrition. The person who can deal out the most damage while taking the least amount of damage will always win. Unfortunately, this set up benefits melee'ers. They're damage rate is much higher than any other class and their armor has an absurd amount of range defense (In the cases where they're fighting a mage, then can slap on some dragonhide without incurring any negative bonuses, gaining the upper-hand). Personally, I only want to see three changes with range: 1.) I want Karil's to have a useful special (Nothing to do with agility, firemaking, herblore, mining, smithing, runecrafting or any of the like. An actual combat use). 2.) I'd like to see the speed of the metal x-bows increased to make them more practical, as right now they're about as useful as javelins. 3.) I want to see a bow with the MSB's old special. Do that, and I'd be one happy ranger. -

Do you get annoyed being ask to do the skill cape emote??
Sly_Wizard replied to antonwhy's topic in General Discussion
Then don't wear your cape. As I said earlier, it's like walking around with a five foot trophy yet being agitated when people ask you what it's for. If you don't want people to ask you to do the emote, then don't wear the cape. Really. Is it so hard to understand? Oh, and for the record, I think that people should look others up before sticking their foots in their mouths. I have four skill capes. -
Do you get annoyed being ask to do the skill cape emote??
Sly_Wizard replied to antonwhy's topic in General Discussion
Because it takes less than five seconds to do your cape emote. Why are you wearing your cape if you're not willing to show others the emote? That makes little sense to me. -
Do you get annoyed being ask to do the skill cape emote??
Sly_Wizard replied to antonwhy's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't bother me one bit. It takes less than five seconds to do the emote. If you don't want people to ask you to do the emote, then why are you wearing a skillcape? It's like walking around with a five foot trophy yet getting mad when people ask you what it's for. -
Here's another lesson: Always play with sound effects on.

pures - to be or to not be (shakespeare ftl)
Sly_Wizard replied to mrmyk's topic in General Discussion
What's with all the pure hate? As Runescape is a MMORPG you can raise your stats however you wish. You choose how to level your character; Someone else chooses how to level theirs. Neither is more "Correct" than the other and vice versa. Complaining because someone else raised their character in a way that is advantaged in PVP combat is stupid. If you don't like it, then fashion your stats to be more effective. If you don't want to, then live with the consequences. And I don't understand how people continue to stereotype all pures without having met 90% of them. Too many people have pre-disposed judgements about someone whenever they found out they're a pure. Anyway, how the hell do pures ruin the wilderness? Personally, I don't understand this argument as pure PK'ing has existed since RSC. IMHO, pures don't ruin the wilderness; The people complaining about pures do. -
Not trading my dragon square for two red p-hats back when squares were hovering around 8M each #-o :wall:

Why people still trying to get slayer 85? :-\
Sly_Wizard replied to Autist's topic in General Discussion
Personally, I only train slayer when I'm bored. I've never really like abbies. Mainly because I have the worst luck. I've gotten one whip off them. Ever. And that was when I used a wild pie at 84 slayer. It's kinda' funny when you think about it...
