I think you messed up your calculation. Slayer xp is around 20-30k xp/hr. At 20k xp/hr takes 5.2k hours to get 104m xp. Of course, that's still an enormous amount of time but it is still 2000 hours saved ;) ($7.25*5200 = $37700 made if you had a minimum wage job) Summoning also does not take that long. I reached 99 summoning before 99 slayer and I started Summon training after I was around 60-70 Slayer. It is actually a pretty fast skill if you ask me. Also. consider Dungeoneering which maxxes out at around 100k xp/hr (I have only hit 65-75k xp/hr at my best, can't get close to it now since I haven't touched Dungeon after the first month of release). That means it takes 1040 hours. So in that time a person can make $7540 irl with a minimum wage job. Just thought I'd add that into the mix as well since Dungeoneering is after all the only skill with a lvl 120 cap.

RuneScape Ventrilo
I guess I'm being a pessimist here, but just to give a word of advise, don't go in people's vent channels who you do not know. Vent allows the owners to see your ip and could lead to you being ddos'd in game. I only use the vent of my clans or close friends because of this.

2011 - Will there be a Runescape and will you be playing?
Well now I consider myself super inactive. I have pretty much vowed to quit RS now and have went to PvP to die with pretty much most of my bank. It was just mainly a decision I made irl about a time to move on seeing as I've been with this game since RSC. But I still keep in touch with my friends in my clan as well as visit Tip It occasionally just to see what's going on. It is honestly a pretty difficult game to let go just because of the community aspect of the game. Hopefully in a month or two though I can fully get off RS. Then again I never know since I do get the occasional nastalgia where I want to come back and pk with my friends or war with my clan.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Partyhat's street price status is skyrocketing to values beyond imagination now. Honestly I believe if the trade limit is taken off RS today, the only partyhats that would be buyable via pure cash would be green and below, maybe red. 2.14bil is probably no longer enough to afford a white or a blue. That's a pretty scary thought in my mind.

Strength is highly overvalued
I wonder sometimes if the high defense warrior ring > berserker ring argument is true. At FFA Corp, the best setup is a Maxxed Str setup rather than a Maxxed accuracy setup or a Void setup. Considering Corp has the highest def out of any monster in game I always found that to be a little curious. Too bad I've never done any real tests on it but I have based that decision off my own experiences there along with experiences that my friends have shared with me.

An Intelligent Perspective On Botters
If skilling doesn't make money, don't skill. It's not hard to lvl up your combat to make more money. The only reason why the poor stays poor is that they choose to be poor.

Runescape Pro vs Old timer
I agree, I used to spend hours camping w2 Fally park spamming out messages to merch different objects. It's actually not that fun. I made a bunch of money like that but you never really have a real conversation with people. I do miss old school woodcutting though before the swarm of wcing bots just ran over rs. Lletya mage trees used to be my favorite spot where people seemed to just hang out and can have some nice conversations. Now Lletya is mostly deserted and I also abandoned my old ways of doing things to give into efficiency :/

Untrimmed Hitpoints with MULTIPLE 99s?! [w/ Pics]
Old glitch. I thought they patched it. Anyways he wishes that's the 2nd rarest cape in the game, especially when fire cape works way better than that thing anyways.

Celtic Knot Sliding Puzzles
Holy [Cabbage] What is that?! They should have put a rubix cube in there then I'd crack that open in a second :D

Smuggling Dungeoneering Items
I remember reading somewhere that as soon as you try to use these items outside of Dungeoneering they disappear. So the only value they have is decoration. Not a major bug imo and I'm sure Jagex will patch it.

Tip.It Times - 4th July 2010
Glad to see you back RSw44. Looking forward to reading great articles from you again. As for your article, I see no problem in the free trial as different CEO obviously means a different set of organizational culture. While MMG is trying to focus on game play, he is still a CEO. Promoting free p2p trials to F2P players is perfectly fine in my books. For article #2. I agree with you completely. After being a skiller for most of my RS life, I recently started going by what I call going with the flow. Only doing things I enjoy in the game. My overall ranking tumbled and my Dungeon ranks is all but a decaying corpse. But I've never had more fun than when I'm off Corp hunting with my friends, PvPing with my clan, and sometimes just idling in game chit chatting in my cc. RS after all is a MMO which means interplayer activities is a major part of the game. Of course fun differs for different people. I know many people who genuinely enjoys grinding skills or standing in w2 for merchanting. If that's what they enjoy then I say let them be.

Tipit what happened?
Stricter Mods than RSC. It's for the better though. Created a great Tip It community at the cost of losing the clan world was a price Tip It had to pay to become my favorite fansite.

RSOF
How many people / clans on RSOF do you think actually know about the "Clan world" that we know of? I don't know much about Tip It War Ladders, since I'm the only RSBer who even uses TIF. But many of us know quite a lot about RSC clan worlds. We probably know P2P better than F2P as most of us know ROT/AF/Brut but I think I'm one of the few that knows F2P powerhouses such as Corr/TT. Is there anything that caused this? (Low amount of knowledge about the "Clan world" We know) RSB tends to attract newer members who do not like the risk aspect of the old wilderness therefore prefer the P2P Maxxed geared Clan war aspect. In fact some of the clans in RSB has gotten so well at this that we are able to take down clans such as RSD in the CWA. TNB has even stated adapting single spell warring as we are starting to run out of challengers within the RSB. It is definitely a whole different atmosphere compared to the RSC clan world. What ways could we connect the two "Clan worlds" together? (Bringing more knowledge to new clanners basically) RSB PKing running into RSC clans is one of the easiest but more "violent" ways for clans from the 2 worlds to connect. TNB ran into RDK a few times in the wild and we always love hitting Jaja in +1. Unfortunately again due to the tendencies of RSB we rarely go to non+1 so it is rare that we run into true P2P powerhouses. Is it worth the effort/time to even attempt something like the above question? Yes. Jagex has shown great support in the RSB (Having 2 of the ladders pinned on the RSOF) and will therefore hear to many of RSB's suggestions. The subdivisions within this year's Jagex Cup was no doubt greatly influenced by RSB as the main combat cup is F2P. How funny will it be to see that clan "trolling" FOOLS get smashed? On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being meh and 10 being lol I'd say 20.

The Fish-cession
I just think people stopped careing as much about 99 cook. So raw fish is kind of stagnant. Cooked fishes still are selling. Really stable commodities tbh. Until all of a sudden a race to 200m Cooking craze strikes RS I doubt raw fish will change much.

Tip.It Times - 27th June 2010
Less than 100 people in a population of 135million+ RS players got 45m each is not a lot at all. Jagex made a mistake but it is neither worth a roll back nor any kind of panic. Those that gained money simply won a small lottery that will be erased within a week due to the influx of gp elsewhere. If you want to know how much money comes in from pvp, go to w137 bh crater and look at how bit the 76king population is, then go to +1 worlds and look at the edgeville rune pking population, finally taking into account that ROT, AF, Brut, DB, RP along with other pvp clans as well as JAJA and Welfarers from public pvp ccs are all getting statues and you'll figure out roughly how much gp is being generated on a per hour basis. I would say 100m/hr net being generated in pvp would still be a lower estimate. Things people should be focusing on: The fact that GE mechanics does not allow Phats to EVER reach their true value. Merch clans are able to cause inconvenience to the population. (Both of above can be solved by more frequent GE updates incidentally) Those are honestly the 2 biggest problems that's within RS atm.

Tip.It Times - 27th June 2010
Being an avid Tip it times reader... I have to say recently the quality of articles have gone down greatly. Not only did the first article did not do any research before making an article like that (The screenies of all those boots have been proven to be faked. Mod MMG even confirmed it numerous times.) But it just seems like an extension of a rant as no viable solution have even been proposed nor has it provide any good alternatives. Honestly after all this drama people are still making a big deal out of those boots. Even if you had 1k of them that's only 45m. Which is pretty much a little more than an Arma hilt split. Considering this is a one time event I don't think is is any problem at all. More GP gets introduced to rs via statuettes in a day than those boots added together. It's not the end of the world.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Most people that owns climbing boots most likely had it as pk return sets. My guess is that extra cash will go into pk related items. Things like Dragon Bolts, Claws, AGS, and Arcane are all possible candidates. Rares are always a good possibility so I'm guessing a Mask/Santa buyout will be slightly stronger now. I still maintain most people are over reacting, the best pk tab I've seen only contained like 100 Climbing boots. Of course there are the collectors who might get 1k-100k boots depending on how bored they are. They're such a small population though that I just doubt it'll be as bad as everyone claims. Only long term effect I see is with the market of Addy boots and Rune boots since now they are the best for pkers to get for return sets.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
Lol, I never bother with Climbing boots. But I deal with addy boots since its only a 1 str difference and way easier to get. This update should be good for me since addy boot prices will be affected now ;) Hurray for pk return sets.

Upcoming Combat Triangle Rebalance
Combat triangle is not unbalanced, if you feel it is then you're just a bad hybrid. As for PvM, what do people use to kill DKs/Ice Wyrms again?

Does anyone actually LIKE every minute of getting a 99?
Slayer and Dungeoneering for me are fun. Runecrafting is a skill I doubt I'll seriously train ever again. Woodcutting was fun back when I was still innocent and carefree. Cooking/Fletching was too fast to be boring. Combat = slayer = fun. Prayer and Summoning was also fun just seeing the xp rates. Herblore I like my overloads so yeah it's pretty fun also. Woodcutting was definitely the funnest being my first 99, back before RS was a race to 99, and back when people at Lletya magic trees were generally very friendly so I met quite a few interesting people there.

140,228 people currently playing online worldwide!
I agree with this completely. That is the whole point of Runescape and business in general. You don't make a game that has already been done 100 times. Way too many barriers to entry. Just in server cost, advertising cost, and development cost alone you'd need a multimillion dollar company prepared to suffer through at least a year of losses before tiny amount of profits starts coming in. WoW is still an indirect competitor so whoever tries to go against RS/WoW will have to deal with 2 giants. It's like if someone tries to join in the Apple v Microsoft war. Too many cons for anyone to consider joining in.

Merch Clans
I think what everyone here is forgetting to consider is the people who can't afford to have an inventory of supplies in their banks. Sure it is easy for me to make 500 overloads each month and just leave them there. But to an average player it might be quite expensive. Manipulation clans may not affect much in the long run but in the short run (which can be anywhere from a day to 3 month or even longer) they can cause massive inconvenience in the market. The ideas and methods used to counter these manipulation clans should focus only on them. No point in hunting down a termite infestation if your plan to attack is by leveling the house. In other words, punish only the main perpetrators but not affect the entire economy. A more fluid update system can accomplish this by making buyouts far shorter, record far more accurate prices, and make it much more inconvenient to run a manipulation clan.

Tip.It Times - 20th June 2010
No comment on first article, some like it others don't. Just a matter of opinion. Second article. It was an even WORSE analysis than Racheya's article for castle wars before. #1 Profound armor is one of the best updates CW recieved. 25% increase to all damage is an absolute dream for the pk defs on a team not to mention allows hard working players to show off their achievements in the minigame they love. #2 Balance the teams midgame? So you're saying someone can score 5/6 scores for Saradomin and then because of the incompetency of the Zammy team that person can be switched to Zammy and not receive his win? #3 The flag holding advantage comes with heavy penalties. It's both an advantage and a disadvantage, your defense lowers massively due to the lack of a shield along with castle war brace's bonus for attackers to hunt you down. I've tried tanking meleers in maxxed tank gears and run out of bandages incredibly fast. It no longer needs to be fixed, if you really can't get the flag back in those conditions your team is just horrible. What I basically saw from the CW article was a person who does not want to put in the work others did to achieve their rewards. Just because something is hard doesn't mean you should make it easier. It is the most popular minigame in RS for 6 years for a reason. Instead of trying to find a bunch of shortcuts just so you can make the achievement worthless, you should actually learn the game and play it to gain your rewards. Pointless updates like the ones you've proposed are just a waste of time.

Luck Streaks
A 5.1k drop log at corp including probably about 1k unlogged kills I had 2 spectral sigils. Then a week ago I missed a Divine, then Ely, then another Ely in a span of 5 days. That has to be my biggest luck streak as of now. I just find it funny that I can have 2 Ely sniped away from me in a week though. LSP wasn't bad either as now I'm making about 6m/hr at corp in 6 man ls teams. I guess I'm a big believer in the Buldge Theory since it's happend so many times to me in RS.

14-Jun-2010 - Castle Wars Kill Streak Competition Result
It was only held in world 15 (Aussie world, lag for EU/North America) and 166 (Low population) so basically only someone from aussie could have had any chance to win at it legit. Kind of a shame :/ I managed to get 69 as my max on 166 but since the population was so low it didn't matter much either way, still was a fun weekend. PS - For all those who think the kill was too low, you had to go 20 minutes straight without dieing. That plays a great factor in limiting your kills.
