  1. OT: It's not hard to find friendly players if you are on p2p servers with the right people. But in f2p it is very very just ugh... Rarest thing in rs : Toy sailboat Rarest Discontinued: Halfwine or cracker, probably cracker. Rarest non-discontinued: Untrimmed slayer/Dungeoneering cape Rarest non-discontinued tradeable: 3a melee or divine sp shield.
  2. Well, I've been thinking about this in the back of my head for a while (even though im p2p), but here are some of the things I see in p2p that should be available to f2p. -Yew Bows, useless in p2p. Would balance out the level 40 cap of everything in f2p. -Pure ess, would certainly make this resource a bit more abundant and at the same time lower cost of runes. -Wave spells, seriously maxxing 16 with mage in f2p is pathetic -Snare, bind does absolutely nothing -Range and magic potions, you have str pots. Balance that triangle. -KBD, the first boss ever to rs is now a laughing stock of boss monsters. Would give f2p a very good challenge however. Also actually give f2p lootshare an actual use. -Allow f2p to rc chaos runes. Throw them a bone. All they're living off of is water runes atm.
  3. It's been proven that 10 minutes of actual data provides more info on a software/program compared to an entire year of closed beta testing. I say yes, would certainly reduce the numbers bugs and help tone the updates to become way better. How it should be conducted though would be a question considering its a trade-off between quality of product vs the surprise and anticipation of a new update.
  4. D plate is about as useful as a short sword. Bandos plate.
  5. Prayer Is NOT a money sink. It is just a wealth transfer as GP from your account is transferred to others. Construction and Summon are money sink skills because the gp goes to an npc and dissappears from the game. Barrows and Dungeoneering items are similar. As are CS since a portion of the drop from cs is taken out as the item gets sold mid on ge but distributed at min. Other money sinks includes every time you use an in game shop instead of the ge, death, and these kinds of similiar activities.
  6. As a merchant I would have thought you would know what supply and demand means. Supply will stay the same, how is it going to drop? If anything, it's growing slightly because of people obtaining yaks, and using it to bank their bones from metal dragons etc. 2ndly, in order for bones to rise, demand should rise, not stay the same. I think he meant supply will drop because there are idiots who purchased bonecrusher and will use them on dragons. Demand will only rise though as more and more people become rich and goes after 95/99 prayer.
  7. Back in my day, Elvarg was lvl 113. Back in my day, r2h was the best wep in rs Back in my day, mages wore full rune. Back in my day, Fletching was the elite skill. Back in my day, Front page top scores actually talked.
  8. Inflation isn't a bad thing in every way. In fact, it is a basic macroeconomic law that higher inflation means lower unemployment (in the real world). In RS, this translates to higher inflation more methods to make money. The only way inflation becomes bad is if it increase to a hyper inflation where it becomes like Zimbabwe in the real world where inflation occurs at a rate of near 1000% per month. And that is only because inflation becomes extremely unpredictable and erratic. The way I see it right now, inflation is way less than what it is suppose to be. Prices for most items in rs should be way higher than what they are right now honestly.
  9. -1 month later- Skiller back down to rank 500-1000 because everyone else has caught up to 99 dungeon and has more total xp. At least he got his 1 month of RS fame.
  10. Don't forget though that you are paying an extra 200k/h. (might even be more if it degrades faster because of bandos ranged attacks and the specs kicking in), probably on top of 200k/h for your CLS. That's already 400k an h more than just whip + divine/ely. Exactly why I think Spectral > Eagle Eye. Chaotic and Mage's Shield are arguable, though. Stack Chaotic with a steel titan, and you have over +100 melee defense just for the shield slot. Full tank gear you have about 475 melee defense :ohnoes: For PvM/MH, the weapons are definitely worth it because they speed up kills, but the shields aren't because at the cost of 200K/hr you should just be using overloads and brews, which should be enough. For me the main point of the chaotic shields is safe PvP. Otherwise a DFS/spec seems to do the job without such a big cost. Actually, on the contrary, I used my chaotic kite and longsword at castle wars for 3 rounds, (Around 1 hour of full combat) and they are still at 99% I'm almost 100% certain they last longer than the advertised 10 hours.
  11. To be 100% honest, the people who are training RC are usually the people not at 99 yet. I know I have Graahk'd a total of 5 minutes since I've obtained 99. It's an extremely tiring activity and the money is about the same as semi afking in a 3-4 people Bandos or Sara team. The people who aren't 99 RC may RC for a goal, and this might give them an additional incentive to train. We already know a huge proportion of the rs population loves grinding out skills/activities we dislike in order to obtain an item. I know I've done it before and I'm not proud of it but it is the ugly truth.
  12. D bones will only rise so much to the point where training with D bones is no longer the most effective method. If you ask me that isn't so far away. D bones - 24.5gp/xp Dagganoth - 30.6gp/xp Ourg - 35.3gp/xp GP/xp on bones is getting very close, and seeing as using Ourg bones is nearly 2x the xp of D bones, perhaps even now D bones are no longer the best way to train Prayer. Training from 70-99 Prayer now costs: 258.7m D bones 290.2m Fayrg Bones 311.6m Raurg bones 376.6m Dagganoth 434.1m Ourg So now the question is, are buying D bones even worth it, or will the Zorge activities actually become more active now (Along with Dks and Bandos Solos, P.S. If you are a bandos/dks hunter, now might be a good time to consider a yak or even start bringing imp boxes with you on trips)
  13. Well I just did it with whip, kc dropped all the way to 92 :( Although that 160 kc was pretty lucky considering every other minion dropped taters for me lol. I'd say definately upgraded from dfs, around same as ely, doesn't have much on divine though.
  14. I'm in an empty bandos world right now lol. Anyways we should get back on topic. Even if the Chaotic Kite can not outperform the Ely, it'll still effect the price simply because its so much easier to obtain. If you have the means to obtain an ely or a divine, 80 dung is a cake walk for you. That'll be interesting to see how it affect ely's prices.
  15. Talking solo bandos, not teams. And I'll try out whip + Chaotic just to see how well it'll work.
  16. I got a feeling Ely is going to crash pretty soon. Tested out a CLS + Chaotic Kite at Bandos solo. Definitely outperforms Ely with whip. Got 160 kc easily with claws + CLS + C Kite. P.S. Not sure how eagle eye will fare against ely at arma though. So maybe not now that I thought twice about it. We'll see.
  17. Cheaper Nats, Death, Blood, and Laws. Higher priced ess. F2P rc would get killed. F2P would probably get more motivation to mine ess. Elemental rune prices would rise. Other than that I don't really see a lot else.
  18. PvP: 1. Strength 2. Mage 3. Attack 4. HP 5. Prayer 6. Range 7. Def 8. Dungeon 9. Summon 10. Herblore PvM: 1. Range 2. Def 3. HP 4. Pray 5. Attack 6. Strength 7. Summon 8. Herblore 9. Dungeon 10. Mage Corp (Yes it deserves a seperate one >:)) 1. Melee Combat Stats (without at least 95+ in all melee and HP you're basically kicking corp) 2. Herblore 3. Mage 4. Pray (Overloads are way more useful than turmoil at Corp 5. Range 6. Summon 7. Dungeon
  19. Honestly, is inflation that bad? Lets look at the D bones example (using this because it's convenient as some other topic was talking about it's continuous rise). D bones started out at 1k each long long long long ago. Back then, a good income average would be around 200-300k/hr, back when people were still into gathering skills such as cutting yews or magics, mining coal, or fishing lobsters/swords/sharks. So the basically back then, you earn 200-300 D bones/hr. Move on to the age of rcing, at this point double nats was still uncommon, rcing was the best skiller option to make money still however, averaging around 600k/hr with double cosmics using abyss. D bones rose to around 2k each. This was also when Green drag hunting became a popular method to making money. You still earn around 200-300 d bones/hr. Now to the release of gwd and then the automation of G altars. Income skyrocketed to 1m/hr. D bones became 2.5-3k each (I just bought 99 prayer at this point, so I'm pretty certain of the prices). Hourly income: 300-333 D bones/hr. (Keep in mind Gilded altar by this time is getting common so if we include that multiplier of 3.5x in, hourly d bones income is 3.5*300 to 3.5*333, in otherwords, d bones got "cheaper") Now comes the time of the pvp statues update, by this time gwd makes a moderate 1.5-2m/hr, Green drags 1m/hr, Tds 2.5-3m/hr. D bones began it's rise to around 3.5-4k each. Hourly income using gwd to make money: 500 d bones/hr. Finally we come to the release of curses and present day. Tds, Dks, Bandos, and Arma solos all bring in an estimated 3m/hr. D bones prices is now 5k each and rising. Hourly income: 600 d bones/hr. My point is, as long as someone is keeping up with the times and using the most effective way to train/make money. Inflation is nothing to be worried about. In fact, income has practically doubled with a constant price level in the D bones market. Of course I only looked at one sector of the entire RS market but I reckon popular commodities markets are around the same. (Herb, Fish, Mining, Woodcut) In a certain way, inflation is not be such a major concern. Some other data from the time period of 04-10: Yew 250-470 (1.88x) Magics 900-1400 (1.55x) Coal 100-270 (2.7x) Iron Ore 100-240 (2.4x) Iron Bar 250-400 (1.6x) Sharks 900-1700 (1.88x) Popular GP gathering method rate: 300k/hr-1m/hr (3.3x) (Very Conservative estimate seeing as 1m/hr means green drag hunting which is next to effortless) Sorry if I made any mistakes with these data. I'm going by memory here. Please feel free to correct me if you find sources. Either way I'm sure my point is getting across. Inflation isn't nearly as bad as it is suppose to be. P.S. The reason I used these particular items to illustrate my point is because they are still to this day the medium items. Ex. Fletching is still trained by Yew log which is still obtained mainly by cutting yews. It is not like an item such as Rannar which had evolved from monster drop to farming to the popularity of herblore etc etc. D bones only suffered from one exogenous event which shook it's price in the release of curses.
  20. This post just described the price history of yew/mage logs, D bones, Mith/Addy/Rune bars/ores, and basically every raw material in rs. In the long rune, it's honestly inevitable that raw materials will rise. However, they will not rise at the speed of discontinued or other things simply because people refuse to pay the price now due to low expectations. (Sharks are a small exception due to the release of Saradomin brews, Monks, Rocktails, and Cavefishs over the years)
  21. Honestly, most 5:5 teams I've been on are pretty good. Its fun to talk with others and socialize while going through the dungeon. If I was soloing (like I did from 1-60) I felt like it was a chore and grind. In 5:5 larges, it tends to be more challenging and fun. I usually do the keys since I can maintain a relatively fast pace while not stressing the team out as well. My average time doing a floor is like 45 minutes now and usually the team are all pretty happy by the time we are done. Faster xp and funner dungeon = win win for me.
  22. Thok's brother is Marmaros AKA the reward trader. The metal Marmaros is named after him and the fabric Bryll is named after their mutral sister. Info of this can be found in M. and Thok's letters 1-6 as well as conversing with the reward trader. Marmaros was injured by Stomp and most likely suffered some kind of mental breakdown.
  23. Just to add a few newer ones - Villandra, Zarfot, Gertjaars, Phoenix Odin. I'd say these 4 done enough to earn the same rank as our old school tops by now. P.S. Lilyuffie88 + The Old Nite please?
  24. I think the key into determining the Dungeon xp rate is the question: "Will there be a 2nd batch of updates similar to summon". I find it odd that the final floor/boss at the moment is unlocked at level 65 when Jagex has been concentrating so much on filling the gap from final skill advantage to 99 gap with all the other skills. I assume if there is a new batch up update to this skill the xp rate might rise faster. P.S. RC - 55k/hr? Fastest I've done with ZMI was at 40k~ each hour. Although I am pretty easily distracted so I never hit the max xp/hr potential. Either way the 30-35k/hr rate is the accepted rate for majority of rc'ers (Graahking with 2x Nats) Also 70k/hr with Agil needs penance horn right? Factor in the time it takes to fill up (4-5hr for max horn) and I'm pretty sure the xp rate falls down again.
  25. You can't eat against a 1 hit ko. The 1 hit KO hits (Super high hits, ex. the giant eyeball's 600 hit on meleers) can all be avoided if you simply pay attention. All the bosses are similar to the Nomad fight, as long as you pay attention they won't max over a 400 on you. The max any of these bosses has hit on me when I've done everything right was a 330, and highest i seen people get hit is like a 350. Well problem for example with the "firerain" is: if I eat/ drink antidote, and at the same time the rain starts I can't move for the first 3 drops: 91 + 131 + 436, making a guaranteed 650 hit. Also, I have seen moments, when soloing rammeraut (and getting unlucky with a 240-something boss), where rammeraut simply stuns me.. And again.. and again.. Me being unable to do anythhing apart from eating for 5-6 hits. (sure with max food I could eat up to that, but still...) Ah well for me the boss fun stopped actually after the GWD, newer bosses I simply can't do/dislike thanks to their hits and me lagging. Cure Self/Venge + Eat and you can still move. The antidote in dungeon isn't worth it to be use in combat as it does not give immunity. Firerain - Signal is obvious the guy literally yells it out, if you can't dodge that I can't help you Rammeraut - Venging at the right time here can literally win the battle for you. I've been on teams where we venge each other during the charge/stun attacks while purposely getting hit and bringing its health down by around 1/10. If you are low on food, you can also dodge all of it's stun attacks (Charge/Spin) The key is just to pay attention to the patterns. They're all pretty easy in the end if you pay attention and know what to do. @Morionic Gatestone Teleport is the best thing to have ever happend to rs since the release of the whip :) Shame you can't use it outside of dungeon.
