  1. Half wines are in the same boat as crackers. There are too few in the game (at least in the open market) to be able to nail down a definite street price. I have seen offers range from 1B all the way to 3B. Also in regards to the PVP statute question. They have the exact same value on the street as in trade and trading to the NPC on PVP or BH worlds. Why would they have high street value when they are not rare, and have a definite, fixed price ingame? Why would I pay 1.1M for something that will NEVER rise over 1M? A 1M statute has the exact same value as 1M GP on the street.
  2. If you are planning on slayer, then I would say buy a DFS. The extra defence it gives is quite usefull. Or you could just drop a bunch into skills.
  3. What is this sound? The only Grand Exchange sound that I am aware of occurs when my personal orders change (like when I buy or sell something). Is there a specific sound when the GE as a whole updates? I think he's talking about the thing he uses to know when the ge updates(not something in game) Yes, the sound I was referencing is the sound that URLy Warning makes when the GrandExchange Beta updates its price. It is quite a unique sound. Depending on the notifier you use there will be different methods of notifying you. Some use visuals, some e-mail or text you but the best thing is a sound effect to tell you seeing as you are going to be focusing on the GE.
  4. This sounds like a good update for players that don't play 100+ hours a week. If you play say 10 hours a week then the extra 1 hour (see that math a page or 2 back) worth of charms gives you arround 10% more charms per week. And that's saying that you spend all that time collecting charms. That's usefull if you ask me. But those of you who play 50+ hours per week, it only gives you 2% more charms if you spend all your time gathering charms. So pretty much I don't see this as beneficial to lower leveled players but rather players who don't spend excessive amount of time playing.
  5. They are random, but as Master Smither said, they are always between 12-36 hours. The website geupdate.com has the times of the last 5 updates on the main page, also the time since the last update. Usually if it updated after 36 hours, it doesn't take that long for the next update, and vice versa. I personally use URLy Warning for my monitor. You can set it to check as often as every 1 minute. It only checks one URL at a time so if you set 4-5 items into it it essentially checks every 15 seconds so it's pretty good for the lower rares. A lot of people also use private, home made checkers which typicly are better but you'll be hard pressed to find someone who will give that away. All you need to do it sit at the GE with the interface open and when you hear the sound, just start puting in offers at max for what you want and hope the item you are offering for is the one that is updated.
  6. Now that the market has 'settled' down from the shock of the mint cake nerf, could someone post an overview of all of the rares prices? In regards to the crash of lower rares; My belief is that there will be some aspect of the skill that will require money, whether its buying supplies like picks or axes for mining and wc, or some new items created for the skill. As of now, a lot of people are doing what Punitive D is doing, sticking GP into rares and when they get enough for another, buying 1 more. So these people often don't carry lots of GP in their bank. When the skill hits there will be a mad rush for these items. Even if they are not as much as say godswords, they will still require GP. People will need some GP but not massive amounts. So they will sell 1-2 of their lower rares like santas or masks that have pretty much the same street as GE price. So pretty much what I'm saying is that I think there will be a small crash in the lower rares when the new skill comes out. But the higher rares will be more then secure. Also, does someone wanna quit and sell me a half wine for med price? :^_^:
  7. agree Can't remember why they even put it in atm Jagex said in their last Q&A that they were not planning on removing the timer because it helps slow down people trying to steal all of the resources like rune ore. As for more worlds, there are enough training spots and resources in the map to support the populations that they usually have (800-1400). The only problem is that everyone wants to be in that one, best spot.
  8. Yes, it was changed. It was called the 'Personalized Shop Update'. Now, what I sell to the general store, no one else can see. It was just another way RWTers were transfering GP that ruined it for the rest of us. There are also very reduced numbers of items. For future reference, there is a forum called Help and Advise for questions of this nature. Oh, and welcome back to Runescape
  9. I highly doubt it because: a) They have no reason to. B) I have been cutting off and on for several weeks and only got 2 egg nests (and none from mtk) c) with anything in this game, if you get 2 in a row it's rare but not unheard of. (I just saw a Adventurers Log where a guy got 2 Divine Sigils in 2 hours in FFA.)
  10. To be honest, they can't ban you for playing on different computers. ^ This Jagex made runescape compatible for a web based browser for a reason, to play on ANY computer. They just give the warnings about unsecured computers because they hate it when we [bleep] about getting hacked. You will not get banned for playing rs at your friends house. You will get banned for auto-mining at your friends house. Understand teh difference Unless of course your friend happens to live thousands of miles away, there is no reason to fear.
  11. It's an ICE monster which requires a FIRE cape to kill. It's how it should be. I don't see people complaining about the need for ice gloves to pick up firebird feathers in the heros quest.....
  12. Ok, this is a question that is most likely stupid, but it's been bugging me for some time. If I got it right, setting an offer just after an update means you are paying more, so you got a higher chance of getting the item, right? But why does it buy? Who is selling them, and why didn't it sell before the update? For items that are usually sold in small amounts like rares, the GE uses pretty much a queue. That is, to say that first come, first serve. So the sooner you get your offer in, the higher up you are on that list. The GE prices will not update until a specific amount of items have sold. So if this number is 5 of an item, as long as you are one of the first 5 people to put in an offer, you will get it. Of course we are not POSITIVE this is how it works, but it seems to work that way the majority of the time.
  13. I'm assuming that if you get the offer in under 30 sec you have a chance. As for the purple, I'm pretty sure I've seen someone accepting egg + cash for purple so anything over that would be overkill.
  14. That's not true. All jagex has said is that all will be revieled in due time. Also, didn't a J mod also say that it was NOT an earthquake? I seem to remember reasing that somewhere but that could just be my mind messing with me.
  15. Right click the summoning button beside the minimap then click Follower Details. There is a Help and Advice forum for things like this. Next time use that.
  16. Oh dear! A zamorakian symbol on his chest and a Zarosian symbol on his forehead! SPOILER ALERT! Next quest Zeros and Zamorak both possess the same person and take over the world!
  17. The only problem that I have with the nerf of mints is that a large portion of the 'smaller' merchants will be too scared to move onto a new item like a hook because of fear of another nerf. So they may try getting into normal item hoarding. I am fine if a noob wants to sink 15M into a useless cake. But stay away from my raw materials!
  18. I've played since day 2 of the Beta. It's just one of those things that you do once or twice per day to start a new construction project and then leave it. Even though I know it's a lot like the other games like it and there are tons of them, I have never really bothered to join them. But since this is Jagex I figured I would give it a shot and so far it's not bad. At least they aren't advertising with half naked women
  19. Yeah, sorry, for some reason I was thinking that he would try to snipe it off the GE thus making yellow the better money making option. Reading back it looks more like he'll be trading egg + cash / items for the phat so I agree with you now, green is the better choice.
  20. EDIT: I found out that eggs are 210-230M but Punitive D already posted below me. As for the Phat: Greens seem to be rarer from what we see (there could be a hoarder with a few hundred but chances are they won't release them into the economy). But the natural demand for yellows is higher because more people like how it looks compares to green. That extra little demand pushed yellow to be more expensive then green. Then since it's more expensive street for pretty much the same GE price, more people try to snipe one off the GE thus pushing demand up even higher. That keeps snowballing until you reach where we're at now, where green is rarer but yellow is more expensive. If you are buying a phat for looks: get the one you think looks better. If you are buying it for money making: Yellows in my opinion will always be higher then green Beware though: In event of a crash, since there are more yellows out there, they will crash faster and harder.
  21. When I first got p2p back a friend of mine borrowed me his as a novelty for a few days. I got absolutely hooked. It is VERY usefull for slayer tasks. After the initial slaying I started back up on skilling so I haven't slayed in a while but I just bought a SGS last night and I plan on using it on most tasks that I can. My DFS may feel a bit lonely, but maybe I'll pull him out for a few tasks here and there. PS -> I paid 73,000,001 GP for it and got it over night. (like 800k under med)
  22. You're around a day late, they were selling max GE till people finally realised it was trash Yeah, when I first saw that they were increasing the rates of mint rewards I thought, 'OK maybe 1 every delivery, that will drop the street but not below a few M' So I stuck an offer in the GE for a bunch thinking I could snag some for a few M profit. As soon as I saw that pic on Page100 of getting 10 in 1 trip I knew it was a legit nerf and quickly removed my offer. Have any rares been effected in price because of this? It stands to reason that people will start moving their GP into other items IE: rares.
  23. This should have been put in help and advice. It is February, so technicly 1 month would give you 28 days. It seems like a mean thing for jagex to do though.
  24. Mint cakes were nerfed before I could even get my free one :( Oh well at least it makes those stupid greedy hoarders lose alot. The bad thing is that the people who can afford to, will just move on to another.
  25. You don't know if the new skill comes out in february... so deciding what to do based on some rumours isn't really clever. Just do what you like because it's still a game and a game is meant to be fun. Exactly, what reliable piece of information do we have that the skill is coming out in Feb (unless you claim the strange power was a clue)? A Jagex Mod said that the new skill would be coming out in a month with 28 days. People take this as saying that it's coming out in February. What they fail to realize is that ALL months have 28 days...It's an old joke.
