  1. Killing iron dragons is ALL about how quick you can kill them, to get the max ammount per your anti fire pots. Bone bolts are good because they are cheap, but they cost you MANY anti fire pots if you use them over say mith bolts, which takes their cost benefit away. I've been experimenting on irons and recommend mith or addy arrows. If you have enchanted bolts use them on MITH dragons or anything else stronger eg KQ or something. You can try rune bolts, but it's highly likely you'll be losing money, and it's not really worth risking the lose alot of money or get a dragon drop when you compared to mith/addy prices. Remember to bring accumalators too, because sadly enough now that it's so much more popular down there I've seen a decent ammount of arrow stealing which can cost you in the long run.
  2. [/hide] You only forget one thing: One of the strong part of MMO's are the constant updates to the game, there is always something new. A lot of people would quit if there weren't any updates. But there are only a limited kind of updates: Totally new content (new skills, mini games, bosses, etc.) Quests Graphical and sound improvement, basically anything which has nothing to do with the game play it self (this can be argued, I know) Updating of the old content You can't live with only the first three, there has to become new updates improving the way to train a skill. Could you imagine RS without it? Getting all your xp at the same speed as in early RSC. Would you like it? I would hate it I think. So does a lot of the community. There will always be new and faster ways to train a certain skill, and that's exactly one of the strong points of an MMO. By no means do I argue that an update is a bad thing, Jagex do amazing ammounts of work to keep the updates coming week after week. However what I argue is the magnitude of the update, which in this case is huge. If you run over to the PMG boards you'll find a very usefull topic about combat training, which basicly covers the most popular methods of training, and even shows us what weapon is best for strength (though I forgot the name of the topic just then). If you look at the experience rates, you can clearly see that 50k-60k per hour is you're average exp rate at pretty much any popular training monster. Now scroll down a tad and you'll see the PC exp rates, from memory it was around 90k, almost double of you're average training. Now, to add a new aspect to a skill that lets you have more experience per hour is a very nice thing to have, as we can see the bone bolts are a great success and people are power training all over with them. I can't say how much more exp it gives then iron arrows or bolts, but it is quite a nice twist to have when you choose how you want to get you're range levels. Perhaps they're not even faster, but they sure as hell are cheaper, even if you compare their power leveling cost rate per hour to iron arrow cost efficient training per hour (basicly, picking you're arrows up). However, to double the rate for ANY skill is taking things too far. Additionally, when the skill has been released 5-6 years ago and they wait for people to train for that long and then realise this new double-the-exp type of training, that's just cruel in it's own right to the "old school" players (I don't claim to be one). However what really makes this update litterally too good is because there is nearly no down-side to it. Money? You are rewarded mountain loads for picking this method, which can easily be done for as long as you like without spending a coin by using melle and initiate. Does it drain prayer? On the contrary, it awards you a reload on prayer each time a game has been completed. Food consumption? Hardly required, you don't even lose items so dieing is a completely sound option. Boredom? If you know what you're doing and how to do it optimally it shouldn't be as boring as what all you are claiming. Sometimes something that may seem to be purely physical is done mostly with you're mind. Think, and you'll realise you can overcome boredom by joining PC groups, chatting in clan chat, inviting friends over etc. Last comment on the people claiming how "boring" PC is, you forget your oppisiton's arguement. EVERYTHING in Runescape will become boring, even mini-games specified to be made purely fun with no gain (argueably CW, as combat exp found in there is very low). Do you honestly think sitting in a dungeon full with dust devils while killing tens of thousands is fun? Think again bud. A very nice idea, a daily or weekly cap on exp would at least force people to get out and get the knowledge of Runescape that can only be achieved through those hours of beating down each monster the old-fashoned way  For the last 4-5 months I quit Runescape (yes before I quit being a mod, incase someone thought I was just exagerating) so I could spend more time on school and more time in the gym. Now that I've came back it really is disturbing how many more high levels I see, and how much respect I've lost for so many of them because of the disturbing ammount of less knowledge so many of them have about the game. A very nice debate-like thread this is becoming :P
  3. Monkfish aren't very good experience, and burn a good bit (cooking gaunts don't work on them, only the 3 fish you use in the quest where you obtain them). You should stick to cost efficient lobs or go all the way with the fast exp of sharks, monks were made for amazing fishing exp and healing ammounts, cooking exp was put low to try to even them out and not make them almost dominate the fishing market.
  4. You really need to give us some numbers if you want optimal responses, but I'll try to figure out how many you're looking at if you power train. Since you haven't said what you're average hit is (write down 50 hits in a row, including 0's, add all 50 up and divide that number by 50) I'm going to assume 5 would be an average hit at level 60 range with typical setups (as I recall blue dragons have decent defence versus ~60 range). Now assuming that you're average hit is exactly 5 (which is highly likely not exact) it will take exactly 25 bolts on average to take down a blue dragon. So simply, we divide you're ammount of bolts by 25, which equals to 4000. So, if you power range blue dragons by not picking a single bolt up and 5 is around you're average which it probably will be then you will have aprox 4k blue dragon kills under you when you are finished. As for normal training, I can't say. I haven't trained with bone bolts anywhere near enough to know how many bone bolts break per use or how many a accumalator will pick up and miss.
  5. By far, it would be just north-west of the barbarian minigame place (one you can tele to using a game necklace). Just weild your axe, chop down the willows there and bank in barbarian outpost. There's a bank type item in there for depositing but no withdrawing so remember to come ready.
  6. I don't much care for either side of this arguement, for I'm as able to do what they are. But I do favour a side. Imagine this, you've just spent 3 years training to level 120 or another similar combat level, you're unbelievably proud of what is a great achievment. Just as you hit you're peak of what you've achieved, Pest control comes out, and within 3 months there are people equal to your level that before could have been a level 60 in rune and a d long 3 months ago. Now just imagine, wouldn't you be frustrated with people casting shadow over what you've done when they have done so little themselves? Of course, you never had the oportunity to PC. Of course, all's fair in love and war, and one should be as oportunistic as possible if they want to acheive the peak of what they are doing. As for pures, I have nothing against the ideas of pures enough so for me to dislike the people that make them. If people want to spend hundreds of hours to get a slight advantage over me in just one small part of the game, I'm not going to go out of my way to show them how pointless they're efforts are, because you really do need those hundreds of hours of training to actually make anywhere near decent money PKing, which is one of the bigger reasons you're average will PK. But of course the fun factor justifies that for quite a few people. The reason I lose respect for vast majority of pures is the average attitude I see. I know that there are reasonible people with a IQ that's human (unlike the usual IQ of what I'd find from a cardboard box) in thw wilderness, but they are far to few to make me respect pures in general. If even 25% of pures learn to grow up, I won't say another word about them in negative. Guess we've got quite the storm to wether before the negative look on pures is gone.
  7. I believe the name is Waterbirth dungeon or something similar (haven't gone there for quite a few months), had me confused with the lighthouse when I saw the title. You can't deny the lack of team-requiring boss monsters. Jagex have repeatably attempted to make a boss that MUST require a team to take it down, and thus the team gets a amazing reward. Perhaps they have acheived their goal with the GWD but I see people soloing some of the bosses, so they haven't really. I guess they admitted to the fact that they would nearly never be able to realisticly impement such a boss into the game, due to the respawning system that makes risk taking just not worth it, and accordingly made a system that required a team for the ammount of people, not ammount of combat levels added up. RuneScape is one of the best MMORPGS out there for monster soloing IMO, one measily boss that doesn't even require a team when in there is hardly "Killing monster soloing", or anything near doing so.
  8. I get it good ammount on world 99 (not that it annoys me :P ). Back when I was a global I even started getting random PM's from both p2p and f2p worlds (though not often), which was quite amusing from what people thought I had from being a global (from extra riches to being given pmod automaticly just from being mod on a fansite forum) but I can see how high ranked players can get sick of all that. Despite all that, I personally feel the Tip.iters declining in world 99, which is probably from the official worlds that Jagex recently released.
  9. I was told by a friend, put it of for a while because I didn't believe that a java game could be as amazingly addictive and fun as they described. Turns out that doubt cost me my scythe, and now that I have the grim reaper hood, I'm hating myself for doing so :(
  10. The reason that it seems they get defence out of nowhere is simple. Say you kill a monster, be it what it is, and this inconvinience doesn't occur, what do you think? Nothing is the right answer. You'll pick up your reward from the monster and keep on training, and you never really put a thought to it (lest you just got a visage), you won't think about the fact that you just killed it in the next second. However, Say this (and I'll just call it this to make it easier) "bug" happened and it takes you a good 10 shots to hit a lowsy 3 damage to get the kill. You're going to be very frustrated if you've been training there for awhile. You're going to think about it afterwards, even if it won't be long. Now say this bad luck (which is what it is) happens straight after. You're going to come under the illusion that the monsters you just killed have been changed to annoy you at low hp, because you don't think about all those monsters you killed prior without getting this problem. Or of course you could follow the full-of-fun-facts theory that Jagex are "uber hax0rs" trying to annoy us into quitting their game that keeps their food on the table.
  11. read the site updates more :-w they released this a few months ago. LOL woops  I've only returned to Tip.It for a week or two, so I never saw the update, and must have over looked it on the list. :P However, the list would largely benefit from a large-scaled correction on prices, as I think that everything was increased in price, not just some (*hopes he's finally right* ). Though I can fully understand why the crew would not like to repeat a tedious task like gather shop price info again.
  12. I thought that as well, but I hear from a crew member that they're same as mith :-s
  13. Assuming they haven't been changed since I did MM, which is very much so possible from the ammount of time, there are three major set backs that I can see about these. Firstly, back when I did MM (and I remember it becausly it nearly costed me a d long I earnt by picking flax  ) I used choc bombs for healing, and when I ate them there was a second or two delay between the eat and the heal. For this reason this isn't exactly what you'd want to take to DK's, PKing, KQ and so on. However it still remains a good training food. This part I'm not so sure, but it may take some time to actually buy these from the shop. They are unstackable and therefore that means running there and back 27 choc bombs at a time. Doesn't really appeal, and the richer players out there should just buy monks if their going for a 99 with minimal fuss about it. Lastly, the "free" method obtaining these is very slow experience and very slow production, this makes buying them premade the only effecient option, lest you enjoy running around in the trees hours on end to make a few hundred training-only foods. Lets take monks for example, or any other fish. Say you want 5k monks to train your stats up in general, we can go about it multiple ways, we could buy 4k, fish 1k, buy half raw, half cooked, buy them all or fish all but those that you can afford. With choc bombs there's one way you could go about it, buy all of them pre-made. For those interested in fishing and/or cooking exp this is something you should consider when choosing between the two. Nevertheless for many people this remains a great source of training food, there's no denieing that (well, Jagex can deny it with a nerf  ). Just wanted people to know that they aren't perfect and that their not going to overthrow the fishing economy (or anything like that), though they may dent it.
  14. Hey, Having come back to Runescape (minimally playing so far though  ) I have really wanted to try out the new god gear, so I bought the Zammy spear for a mil and tried it out. I already knew it was worse then whip/defender but it just seemed fun to have :P Now that I'm done with it in cw using it's special in the dungeon I was wondering if anyone knew where the spear is more usefull then the whip? For example, a monster that might have huge slash defence but low crush/stab making the spear more efficient then a whip. I know there are quests like that however I've long finished all the quests. Thanks for the help
  15. Free world is 7, members is 99. Hasn't changed for quite a few months I believe.
  16. Nothing to debate here, and even if there was this would belong in an admins inbox or possible in the forum suggestions board. We are currently trying to clean up these ads, however as much as you may not think so it is a tedious and never ending job doing so, however I can assure you that we ARE blocking these ads, we just can't catch ever last one of them in a day and keep new ones from coming up, it just isn't humanly possible. ~Philip
  17. If you're trying to get links to specific parts of a post on the forums I'm afraid that isn't possible. However it IS possible to do so on Tip.It's guides. To do this find the page you want to link to and scroll all the way up, even that isn't the section of the guide you want to link to. Now you'll see links that go to the same page you're on, but different sections of it (for example in the fishing guide it will have introduction, basic tools, member fishing locations, etc.). Now simply click on that link and copy the address that is now in the top bar (the only thing that will change will be this added to the address: '#[text here]') I'm not entirely sure and I'm not able to check however 10,000 sounds about right. There are no plans to increase this amount that I know of due to the reason that you can simply reserve posts if needed and continue there on (don't make too many reserves though  ). Of course, you could always make this a suggestion in the forum suggestions board. :) When you make a new post you will notice a test box that is name "subject", just below this are a bunch of buttons (can't think of what to call them so buttons will do :P ) which say B I U Quote Code List Img URL and Hide. Simply click on hide, type in what you want and press hide again, here is an example of what happens when I type the following in: [hide]Example[/hide] [hide]Example[/hide] I'm not entirely understanding what you mean, you have to press the link in the box to see the text in it if that's what you mean, or you could just have BBCode disabled. To enable it firstly look in your profile and there will be an option saying 'Disable BBCode", untick that. If it isn't ticked already then just stop pressing Disable BBCode option under the text box when you're making a new post :P Hope that helped :)
  18. Locked on request, should you ever feel that you're up to the challenge of getting 99 fire making or any other goal again then feel free to PM any mod to unlock this so it can continue :) .
  19. Dude151515, do not make quote pyramids, that is regarded as spam and will be dealt with accordingly. Your posts have been edited and I advise you leave them that way. 20. Nameing names is indeed not allowed however if you want to share your story then you are welcome to post it in the Almost Got Scammed? Want To Tell Your Story? Post It Here! sticky in the General board, however without the name of the supposed scammer.
  21. Congratulations, your guide is now in the Archive of Wisdom :) ~Philip
  22. Buying RuneScape gold is indeed illegal by Jagex's rules and not permitted by them or us, having said that I'm locking this post. I'll let this of with a quick warning as this was a unintentional mistake. ~Philip
  23. Question answered, in the future please remember that RS related questions go to the Help & Advice forum. ~Philip
