  1. The idea would be I use it after Dharok before Karil, to top off my prayer and speed up the kill. In any case it probably wouldn't be that great, not only do you lose hp but precious defence levels. Assuming you do barrows the efficient method that nearly never requires prayer pots, meaning you no pray Verac, Torag and Guthan, you'd get killed straight after at Verac, because when Veracs hit through armour the only thing protecting you is your defence level. Very important to keep that up high. If you want, try it out but a sup set without the def potion is probably what you're looking for (as long as you can take down both Kharil and Guthan without potting prayer). Not very sure on if it restores rayer or not though, probably doesn't, seeing as sara doesn't give or take you any.
  2. If you have a demon butler (which I assume you do) then I find him much faster getting him to run there and back then you having to do the whole process yourself. Also depends if you're willing to spend a bit more cash for the cutting into planks stage, I find it a fair trade to use him though. Same thing with the larders, just get your butler to cut them and as soon as you get them back use them to make your larders, or whatever else you choose to make.
  3. It's very much so possible, and it is very effective. Many people will tell you that it isn't that great, or the prayer method is so much better. After experimenting with both methods I can tell you that most that say that are likely to have only tried their own way, and are getting a little proud and protective when people claim to have found a method equally or better effective then theirs, not aimed at anyone specific. I've made alot of money using the guthaning method. Try this: bring the typical setup but isntead of a black d'hide body, bring guthan body. To compensate for the range bonus loss it's smart to bring a MSB instead. Also, I recommend bringing the following: Armydyl pendant, a Saradomin cape and Zammorak bracer, and if you can afford it, Bandos boots. When you get down and need to guthan you should heal on either the goblins and hobgoblins (watch out for the lvl 107 orcs) or on vampires and werewolves that are already attacking something else, that way they don't even attack you back :P I'll try get a picture of my setup when I'm done killing dusties  .
  4. He said invest, therefore he wants to put money into something and get it back or something back in the long run. Lest he changed the title at some time. Personally I'd invest some of that on barrows, you'd get mage and a bit of range and melle exp that way. But seeing as most don't like the low exp per hour in that method, not the risks, I'd say fletching and alchs would be a popular and effective alternative.
  5. Hey, I've been putting off getting a fighter torso for way too long considering how much more I melle then any other skill in RS, so I think I've got the basics of it, but I have no idea how long getting points take. Does anyone have any idea how long it might take me to get a fighter torso if I spend a decent ammount of time on it? Could it be done in a weekend? Also, is the queen really that hard to kill? And is it hard to find a team that can kill her? Thanks :)
  6. No one's really pushing anyone's method onto anyone, it's their choice. I could care less if I see someone praying down there, but it's always good to have more then one way to go about something, and here we have our two, both with some extent of "sub-guides" that are just methods people have taken up to see what's best for themselves. I know that there are alot of people who can't use, can't afford or aren't willing to buy guthans, but I also know that for those who can afford the items and have gotten their defence levels up this is a great stragedy, something to definetly consider using instead, but no doubt the prayer method suits many people better then this method and all the similar ones that we've found. I may have misunderstood what you were trying to say in that post, but there you have it, it all comes down to what you can and can't do, and preferences.
  7. For those that don't mind spending an extra buck on some pricier ammo, I found an extremely effective setup similar to this one that'll I'll just quickly mention here. The following is what you wear: Guthan helm Armydyl pendant Guthan plate Guthan skirt Any boots, frog leather (from the dorgushan city, not mine) is alright for people with low ammounts of money to risk from dieing. ROL Zammy bracers (Glove spot) Sara cape MSB Best arrows you're willing to use out here, steel works great, haven't tried anything else. In invent, Guthan spear along with teles, alchs for rune daggers and possibly some backup food (don't clog up your invent with food though, else you'll be dropping them for rannars  ). It's extremely effective, despite that you have no body or leg range armour. You'll end up with aprox +60 range attack and +276 range defence, both of which work great. When you're on low hp, heal with guthans, works best on vampires. Also, if you see a zammy mosnter attacking a sara one, attack either and they will ignore you, making healing easy, despite lack of metal boots, barrow gloves etc. For this method using the MSB to work anywhere near it's full potential you MUST have zammy bracers, or you're going to get killed by the zammy troops. The arrows being subbed for bone bolts are well worth it, they do more damage per hour on low defence then bone bolts (which aviansies have), and when you're training on mosnters that average you 3.2k or so GP per kill, I think the added cost of a steel arrow should be near impossible to even notice in your budget when you're finished selling of all your addy bars. My setup is based of this one, so decided to post here :) (To anyone who's wondering, it is very much possible to stay there forever using Guthans and not have to spend a dime on P pots. Haven't tried bones to peaches there yet, probably won't). Grats on that trip kemikalkadet, looks like you got a huge profit from all that :P
  8. Say you're out PKing and find yourself in a 1 on 1. The opponent uses the typical DDS + main weapon, and gets you poisoned. You happen to have a life ring, and get saved by it's teleport. Now that it's updated, when it teleports you (and therefore turns into dust or whatever the chat box says) it will rid you of your poison, therefore actually saving your life instead of post poning your death in that kind of scenario. Very helpful, I almost died after a TT mage got me to low hp and poisoned me after getting teleported by my ROL, and then realising the poison was still hitting (that was quite a while ago, had 3M of gear on me :P ). (The poison will only be cured when the ROL automaticly activates, which is where it had you confused I think  )
  9. True that they're a pain to train and get, lest you have many chaos you don't mind wasting (lest you're aiming for a onyx). However, In the experience per hour guide in the PMG you can see that when using the beserker necklace that obby swords can earn you better strenght experience per hour then dragon long swords and scimitars, so if you can afford a beserker necklace and like to train str, it's something you should consider. (beserker necklace boosts your max hit by 20%, eg. You hit 20, you will hit 24 with beserker.)
  10. I used to hunt dust devils, and at any given time I'd have probably 30-50k+ fires. Though I was there for quite a while, it's still GREAT exp and one of the top ways to obtain fire runes aswell.
  11. The assist system only works with a 20(ish?) square radius around you, so if you were in cammy and he was out all the way at the mind altar, there was no way you could have been in range to help him. At least I think that's what you're problem is?
  12. I find it very hard to believe the average IQ of users in RSOF dropped at all. Since I can remember RSOF has always been the most brain dead dicussion infestest forum I've seen, and it's only gone from worst to worst, a whole lot of nowhere  .
  13. Think it out before you do it, or even ask. Why are bone bolts used? overall for their low cost. Bone bolts hit decently aswell, there's no denieing that. But there's also no denieing that addy-rune bolts hit much nicer on high leveld monsters. Now, in fight caves you'll be praying near constantly when it gets to the later end of the mini game. Of course, to pray you need pray pots and super restores constantly. So, if it takes you longer to kill the mosnter (which it will) with bone bolts you'll be using more prayer potions, which can carry quite a heft price tag in bulk. In the end, you'll use more pray potions using bone bolts, which will cost you more, negating the most likely reason you choose to use them. If you use bone bolts without 90+ (i'm guessing around there) range you're doing yourself no favour, you may even end up spending nearly as much then as if you'd use the mith-rune bolt method. You should always try a trial run with your setup though (stopping when p pots are really needed), jsut to see how well you're going to do.
  14. Well, you gave him the idea originally #-o (sarcasm or not) Buying runescape gold with real life money is illega illegal, and Jagex have methods of detection to see if you have done it. If you buy it, you will get banned from RuneScape. In any case, this type of thread would belong in Help & advice. For you, I would recommend buying newt eyes from the store south of falador and selling those to members. If not that, you could try fishing lobsters (if you don't mind watching autoers speed up the process of moving fishing spots..) or cutting yews (similar problems to fishing). Don't know if you can get in the mining guild, but if you can you could try mining coal.
  15. It's about as good of a task you're going to get when you don't own a cannon. They should be one of you're main sources of slayer exp, so yes definetly always do them (if you're not cannoning I personally find the spot north of the Trollhelm teleport the best, the one north of burthope can be really crowded and have cannon users there.
  16. Don't take my word on this, but I think salve doesn't work on slayer monsters, I may be wrong, something worth looking into if you're killing them long term. If you going to be praying, and salve doesn't worth, sub out the salve for a holy symbol or even better, a stole. You should consider a rune defender, the attack bonuses are worth sacrificing prayer bonuses in many cases. Last thing I can think of is a god cloak (cape), but they have a 800k price tag last I checked so you might not be able to afford one, or want to. However, I highly advise using d hide or Kharil's, without prayer. They really aren't as bad as some people make out, perhaps they walked by them in metal armour and got hammered? In any case it's very proffitable to use d'hide, as you get mountain loads of prayer pots when you're finished there.
  17. Out of interest, how did Omali suggest he was a supporter? From the looks of it, he disagrees.. ------------------------------------------------------ I'm going to have to disagree with this aswell. I always gave high levels that I trusted my gems for them to cut, though I did it the wreckless way, that only proves the point of this update being a good thing. I by no means feel cheated or anything similar because of this, as far as cutting gems for low levels, I think I get the better side of things, I prefer the Exp over a gem, as I also did when I was a low level. Remember not every update has to be "your" update, there are so many catagories of players in Runescape that it's litterally impossible to make a perfect update for everyone. When this happens just wait for next weeks update, chances are it'll probably be a bit more for you, if not that's just tough luck, there are countless things to do in RuneScape and if you want to quit or are angry from not having an update for a fornight, then perhaps you should have already quit.
  18. Love the new icons, especially firemaking, RC, HP, STR, cooking and woodcutting but slayer, hunter, mining and agility could be better. Overall much better though. Too bad assist probably won't be that great for me, as I never really need or get asked to help people with gems and such, a great update for many nevertheless, no complaints from me.
  19. thanks for your reply, however, it says that it is 100% accurate. Oh? Edit: Arg! Omali got it first :P
  20. Tip it does not claim perfection on that calculator, so I don't see what's the problem. It's a rough but accurate to a nice ammount estimation. If you know the exact formula for max hits, please sure, though I doubt you have it, if anyone does. This belongs in website corrections, though it is very difficult to correct with the help of Jagex. However, you should never put complete trust in any site for every aspect of a game. The most reliable information you will ever find is that you personally find.
  21. I tried this method when I saw you post it in the first Avansie guide (Forgot the guide's/Author's name :P ) and decided to try it out, seeing as the day before I was seeking a non prayer method to killing them, and wasn't sure if a similar setup to what you have would work. I ended up with 120 kills, BUT I occasionally attacked the lvl 131 Avansie, who really does hit many times harder. I would bet that if you stuck with level 69-87 (can't remember exact levels) you could stay there for a good 200+, simply with monks. However I also found something else, though my proof on this is far from solid. In my time there by the first 50 Avansies I had killed I noticed that my rate of addy bars to Avansies kill was FAR below 1:1 like I had seen on so many prayer method pictures. Infact, I hardly had 20 by the time I killed 50. So I decided to make a small test and start occasionally killing the lvl 131 who I would probably only kill frequently using the prayer method and I ended up getting many more addy bars, infact by 100 kills I had 60 ish addy bars, my numbers here are off by a small ammount so I won't bother calculating ratios and such, but it's something to keep in mind that the higher level Avansies probably drop more addy bars then the lower ones. However, This is still a great method for people that are broke, have no prayer boost equipment, low prayer etc. Lastly, bones to peaches is a great use here when fighting the lower levels HOWEVER it will NOT do for the level 131's, which might be good to add to your guide, along with subbing the duel ring for a life  .
  22. Not bad spot you found, but (I may have misread) are you sure they drop adamant boots? Can anyone else confirm they have gotton adamant boots here? Seems very strange that Jagex would give them that drop with the whole Slayer monsters dropping metal boots theme that's going on, especially seeing as the frogs aren't hard to kill.
  23. Thanks for the help everyone, just would like to post back incase someone was wondering what I was, as I've tried killing them prayerless. As long as you have an armadyl pendant, sara and zammy item killing them prayerless is a cake walk. However along with those god items you must wear a leg and helm piece of barrows melle armour, you're range bonus still remains good. 13th page :P I advise all avansie hunters to try his method, it's very effective and cost efficient.
  24. 77 range is enough, though it wouldn't be smart going in there with anything below mith bolts. To the people saying that enchanted diamond bolts and all that pricy stuff is a complete must, that's rubbish. I've melled over 300 there, maged a similar ammount to what I've melled from excess chaos runes from barrows and ranged well over 500. Here's a setup I use and can tell you it works great, no fancy & pricy enchanted bolts involved  I HIGHLY recommend using mith-addy bolts, no more, no less. Why? Enchanted bolts speed up your kills, no doubt. But the ammount they cost simply does NOT compensate for the speed you kill the dragons. Also, do not use anything less then mith, you can try steel if you want, but it really won't go anywhere near as well. The reason is, if you use bronze or iron you will take a long time to kill a dragon, which means you use more anti-fires per dragon, in the end if you are using the supposed cheap way (using iron bolts) to kill a certain ammount of dragons may even cost you more. As for that picture, I just finished using 2k mith bolts there and only had 400-something left. If you were to use all the anti fire's that I use in a normal trip (8-10, that's a very long time), you'll need aprox 800+ miths. Also you can take out the alchs I have there, but you can stay very long ammounts of time there as a ranger so you will be forced to bank earlier or waste valueable drops. Good luck, try to stick with irons for your first few kills so you can get the hang of it before you start tackling the high defence of steels :) Edit: Forgot to mention, your ava acumaltor will get you steel arrows, so it's nice to have a spot open for them when you can. At certain times I've came out with a bonus 30-50+ steel arrows just for wearing my accumalator. If you don't have one, don't bring any steel arrows at all.
  25. HIGHLY advised to burthope them, they have terrible drops, exp isn't that great, can be hard to find a good spot for them and you have to sacrifice some armour for god items so you aren't slaughtered by all the monsters there. But, if you enjoy the task and don't mind the bad drops and those various set backs guthaning works nicely on them, they don't really hit hard but from memory neither do they drop bones so you can't use bones to peaches. If you choose to do them I highly advise melle, using just whip and guthans should more then sufice, by no means should you pray lest you choose to kill some of the spirit mages (if you can), simply because you'd be wasting ALOT of money for nothing.
