  1. The sig feature hasn't been brought up but I liked the idea but for entirely personal reasons. It's easier to check the content if I have to remove them. :P Best to make that into its own topic as Phil mentioned with the things not specifically listed in the first post. They'll get lost in the shuffle if you ask about them here. I mod Gen P2P if I happen to see something that needs to be taken care of but our mods there get everything before I ever see it. They're ninja fast. I just happened to be taking note of active topics on the boards at the time.
  2. Hey RAHK, glad to see you're back and have some more free time now. I hate to be the bad guy and commit forum suicide but I have to lock the post. I think it was changed after you left but all leaving and returning posts have their own sticky over in Gen F2P. I must say yours is better than the usual ones but we have to be fair with everyone no matter how much we like ya. I'll gladly split the topic and put the initial post on the other board if you want since it was so indepth. Again, good to see you back. :)
  3. I'll gladly mod the board but as I showed it will be nearly empty and not exactly deserving of its own spot on the index. If anything it would then only merit being a sub-forum of the General board. If you want to blame crap in General P2P, blame your fellow users who produce crap topics then the other users who bump it up constantly. I can't understand the mindset that if I don't like it it shouldn't be there. I don't complain about the topics because I'm not taking initiative to make my own topics that will spur discussion. If as many users would do that as complain I doubt it would be an issue. Creating new boards for every fad topic is why we have so many random boards... and people complain. If we start locking, being choosy, and treating a board with an iron fist.... people complain. I'm sure everyone can see the common link here. I think your assertion that the garbage topics are now somehow worse is completely untrue. I can remember mentioning more than once about how trashy I found both Generals back when I was first modded a year ago. People love to romanticize how things were while overlooking the reality of the situation. No reason to blame them for doing it, it happens.
  4. Even though some things aren't listed in these proposed changes doesn't mean they aren't still in discussion. Now on to a few random things without diverting this topic too far off the things mentioned. We're currently working on that. Trust me, it's involved and will take a little while. There have been a few mentions of self-locking and deletion. Short answer: it will not happen. Even Mods and Admins don't go deleting posts (we remove them from view) so you can bet we won't be letting users do this. It boils down to users locking their topic when they are out debated. The deletion won't happen because we'll have people delete their rule-breaking post before we see it. Regarding the General merge, I don't think people realize how much overlap there is in both. In a staff discussion a while back, I tried to make a point about all the Non-P2P threads in General P2P. At the time I did a count there were 25 topics I could have moved to General F2P out of the 100 on the first 2 pages. My only reason for not doing a mass move was I didn't want to hear the complaining that would have happened. As it is at this moment, posts on Gen P2P over a 24 hour period don't even span the first page. There are 46 topics on the first page of Gen P2P minus the stickies. 5 of the topics of locked. Another 5 are shadows of moved topics. Now here's the best one: There are currently 15 topics additional in General P2P that I should move to General F2P. So to recap, 25 out of 46 available topic positions could be removed from General P2P and even with them the first page still has topics that are 36 hours from the last post. F2P currently includes 5 locks and 4 shadows and has posts on the first page over 60 hours old (2.5 days). Can someone explain how this is so active that a merge will make the board run too fast? Edited for spelling errors
  5. Search for Author: Use * as a wildcard for partial matches You can find that field^ right below the search for keywords. There's also this http://forum.tip.it/search.php?search_author=Eelspremiers. You can find via the memberlist at the top then going to the user's profile.
  6. Troll General was added when the topic Cruiser mentioned was active. Through what I assume is a limitation of the forum software (or my own ineptitude :P) you can't set ranks with post counts over 10k so it's set for 9999 posts. Neglecting to add it to the post count sticky at the top was a slight oversight. #-o *goes to add it in*
  7. Bubsa, I only ever see the same people complaining about these topics when they're harming nothing. 10 people (or whatever arbitrary number) do not make a forum majority. ---------- There are plenty of things on this forum and this board in particular that have no point (this is assuming room for discussion is a must). I was under the impression the forum was here for entertainment, fun, and the general enjoyment of the users. This thread is obviously causing serious harm if it's left open so I have no clue what I was thinking. I find it rather funny that someone not being lock happy is a problem. If you want to discuss it further go make a topic in forum suggestions if for nothing more than courtesy to the topic creator. Their thread doesn't need an offshoot conversation to help keep it bumped or to drive it further off course.
  8. Wow people, get over yourselves. If you don't like it stop bumping this up and it would be dead by now. I'm sure post counts and egos can live strong without yet more replies aimed at making people feel stupid. Don't like it, stop posting on it. Amazingly simple.
  9. Just a little update that Saidin asked me to post. He's currently on vacation so if you haven't seen him around in a while he's doing ok. :
  10. The fact I was able to get through the last page of posts is amazing to me considering how much bickering is going on. Arguing a point just to be right serves no purpose on either side. Everyone needs to grow up and realize that complaining for its own sake only makes people not want to listen. Being more pushy doesn't mean you're more right or what you have to say will get done any faster. I set up a private board yesterday for the CTET, those vocal about this, any prominent clan community members, and clan leaders here and their staff. I haven't given access to anyone yet since I'm in the middle of contacting them. Does this means I'm going to decide who is allowed to join and no others? No. If people think someone is excluded that needs to be then they can be added. I frankly don't want to hear the whining that would happen otherwise. The point of this private board is for discussion on what's wrong here with solutions. No one is going to get their way 100% so this requires people to think beyond the end of their nose and learn to listen to others. These issues can be specific ideas to improve and change what the CTET is doing, ways to change the set up and layout of the clan boards, or how to get the conclave idea off the ground. Please don't confuse this idea with the conclave because this isn't its intent. This is just a place where those with a vested interest can talk this out without having to save face publicly or be more right due to egos. I don't plan on having it closely moderated because I think that's counterproductive to the purpose. Keeping that in mind, this requires people to act mature and not resort to petty flaming and other counterproductive means to express their ideas. I'll be adding people and contacting others throughout the coming day or two. If by chance you get added and don't want to participate then feel free to remove yourself from the usergroup, which can be done at the top of the page. It will hardly be a matter to complain about since it will take 10 seconds of your time to do it if you don't want the opportunity.
  11. Got a report on this topic hence my replying. People posting on topics when they have no interest in them is what keeps them bumped. People obviously want to post on them if they continually surface on page one. And for the topic starter, Ellis the tanner. He always moves behind the table and it annoys me to no end.

Moving to H&A. Once again, please post your topics in the proper boards.
  13. *chimes in* Ok, I'm sure some of you have no clue who I am and the rest I've probably rubbed wrong at some point, so barring past discussions I want to bring up some points here and explain my position and thoughts on a few things. For better or worse (and considering my limited clan background I'm sure some will think worse) I'm the Admin currently overseeing the Clan boards. I'm also now the Admin that is overseeing the CTET. The good part is I want to see TIF thrive in general and this, by extension, means the Clan Boards too. In the last week I have been trying to catch up on all the problems that seem to plague these boards and the CTET, all while working on the issues. The vast majority of this has been done on private boards and some in communication with people who have been involved in these matters. I still have more people I'm trying to contact about various things. I have spent literally hours and hours since I've assumed this role trying to work on things. I can assure you it is no small task and you know well how much needs to be done. I firmly believe the whole point of TIF is to have fun and for enjoyment. If something is happening that is counterproductive or completely killing the atmosphere and fun then it needs to be looked at. The forum is here for the user's benefit and not the other way around. Bear in mind it doesn't mean we can cater to mob mentality, but there is obviously something amiss in the Clan boards otherwise there wouldn't be such strong desire to see change. As Bufoman has mention, he has brought up having a private subforum set up for clans leaders, CTET, knowledgeable Clan board users etc. to come together and discuss what to do in a slightly more private setting if that's what everyone would wish. I honestly have no problem with this and you would be allowed to have an open discussion about the issues that are bothering you. I want to see these boards function to the best of their ability and am willing to go to great lengths to see this happen even if it means a massive overhaul of how these boards are set up and how CTET functions. If CTET events are not catering to clans then we will have to do something about it. The events are not made to give an events team something to do (they're a lot of work and time-consuming to put together). They are made so users will attend them and enjoy themselves. Realize that the CTET makes an honest effort with these events and it's disheartening to have them not go over well with people. We're willing to listen so keep the discussion coming. Bufoman has been fighting for changes to happen here quite hard and I want to applaud him for his effort. I don't think people know how much posting and how many pms he's done trying to improve things around here. I'm also trying my best to fix what I can as fast as I can. -Tallest

  15. My house is the only thing that makes it possible for me to stay on Lunars. The most useful parts all involve teleporting: two portal rooms, a mounted glory and an eagle lectern. Toss in a costume room and I'm set. 8-)

  17. Moving this over to RS Suggestions.
  18. Captainkidd covered nearly everything. Next time just use a private message if you're that curious. I'm sure you can manage to come across as that rude privately. -.-
  19. I haven't seen anyone mention it but this just seems like a way for Jagex to counteract the fact that 1 million ranks on the highscores aren't enough anymore. Here's what 1 millionth ranked is for the following: att lvl 61, str lvl 62, def lvl 54 and hp lvl 61. It's kind of weird that you can't even tell if someone can wield dragon weapons anymore via the highscores. This spell was an interesting way to work around that.
  20. I'll agree with the comments given about the comparison of this to superheating. This doesn't speed up the process like super heat does for smelting rune but my point was not all udates/spells make things significantly easier and they're not always incredibly useful. You can find a specific great use for nearly any spell if you look hard enough and limit your scope. I think the following quote pretty much sums it all up nicely: Precisely. They err on the side of caution a lot from since they've gotten bitten from many updates that created situations they didn't anticipate. One thing I can't get is why the rune costs are so high for this spell set in general. 3 law runes to teleport to Catherby is a bit high. This really kills most reasons for using it. I don't see how me getting to farming patches quickly justifies 3 law teleports. -.-
  21. I haven't checked out the RSOF topic you linked to but I have a comment about the usefulness. Super heating. There are some minor differences between the two but when was the last time you made 20k iron bars with superheat? That's right you don't. Same thing with this planking spell. Use it for those times you want to make a plank without having to go to Varrock and leave it at that. It's probably only useful for those random mahogany planks you need. Same logic with superheating for me. I only use it to make rune bars or addy when I have a few lying around.
  22. I like the point raised here. Now here's a question for everyone. If Jagex made a quest req of 115 combat would that be considered fair? These players who have decided their class is solely mage or range won't be able to get that level without significant help from melee skills (thus defeating the point of combat classes). So are they playing a limited game when Jagex, by the way the game is set up, gave us combat classes and also set up the way the combat level is decided?
  23. Seems Zoid just can't let it go. Anyways... I was obviously a fix because people expected it to be changed and very soon. If I didn't expect Jagex to change something I wouldn't go out and buy up thousands of runes then O.D. on training that one spell. The way people rushed out and used it while they could illustrates they knew it would be changed. No, they weren't abusing it at all.
  24. No offense to Mod Ash, as he's quite a cool guy, but that comment would hold more weight if they decided to make these reqs something hard besides combat. I'm not being unreasonable when I say that of all the things I consider high leveled, 85 combat does not really rank up there. Give me one with 85 defense, 80 herblore, 90 mining, or anything else that would actually provide a little more effort to get. I hardly call 85 combat a dedicated player as someone else said. I like that Jagex is raising the bar from these updates for lvl 40s but it's always combat based when anything gets done. If it weren't for the fact that quest reqs are so inherently non-combat weak I wouldn't care nearly as much. Lastly I want to say that I'm merely annoyed with the update. I'd still rather have "higher level" updates like these than all the endless mediocre ones with pointless new items. Jagex is going in the right direction, they just need to step up and make some decent non-combat reqs in the future.
  25. Few comments about this, no particular order and I'm not quoting since most of my posts don't get read due to being 'long'. To those who said no complaining about noncombat skill related reqs: You must be playing a different game than me. I can't tell you how much groaning and whining I heard about getting 65 smithing or, God forbid, that pathetic crafting req for Lunar Diplomacy. Now for the rest. People who are on this tangent about how only truly deserving people can wear this cape annoy me. How is a lvl 80 with a skill total above 1700 a lower level than a level 110 with the bare minimum of skills (~1200 - 1300 total) to get the quest cape. Sorry to break it to you but the 110 is the lower level IMO and the one that plays a less balanced game. I'd go with that lvl 80 any day. I don't see how PCing your way to lvl 85 makes you any more deserving of a quest cape. This is technically the highest total xp req they've instituted to date but it's combat based. Don't go playing the martyr here that this is something hard to accomplish. Have this be 2M worth of xp in, hmm let's say Herblore and see how people would react. You would never see whining as great as that. The simple fact is they didn't have to put any req if this is as hard as they say. It would have kinda worked itself out with lower combat people not being able to do it. What I find unbelievable is that this quest has a combat req when it's for a skill based spell book. Even if you want to act like it's combat based, it's only so in a backup kind of way. There should be reqs like this for DT, not lunars. Oh, and before any comments get made: As with every quest that has come out for the last 20 months, I can do this one without having to do any leveling whatsoever. I'm not complaining because I can't do it. I'm complaining because it doesn't make sense and I consider this to be a poor excuse for high leveled updates. Give me a mining update that's high leveled. Yeah, I'll start waiting on that....
