From a time-efficiency point of view camping abyssals is one of the dumbest things you can do. Including whips it's like 300k/hour, which is about the profit attainable from level 50 runecrafting. Abyssals definitely have above average defense, they are slow melee xp even with a slayer helm. I've never killed them off task so I don't really want to think about without it. The charms are completely mediocre, you can get more from just slaying. To put things in perspective, you'd max out much faster by camping black demons, and making up for the lower profit by monster hunting or whatever. That said it's a game and you can do whatever you want to, I agree it's silly to say people with 85 slayer aren't allowed to kill abyssals. It's just a waste of time.

For those of you who don't know what that is, you fly a low altitude prop aircraft over the tundra, and shoot wolves with shotguns. If you can't hit a wolf, you chase it until it collapses with exhaustion, land by it, and then shoot it. She also had the state offer $150 for the front paw of any wolves killed in this manner. There's tons of awful stuff out there, I just found this particularly terrible.

Runecrafting is generally 20-30k xp/hour while making runes normally, 40k or so/hour with ouriana. Melee skills max at about 100k/hour individually, or 33k/hour if you train them collectively, meaning if you camped zombie monkies you could get 91 melees a bit faster than 91 runecrafting. This doesn't take into account how absurdly slow melee skills are to start with though. Nor does it take into account the time needed for the prayer/ranged/summoning levels needed for GWD (Ok I know that no GWD boss needs melee and ranged, but if you want to do all of them you will need both). Also you will be making profit the whole time you are runecrafting, while at zombie monkies you lose a minuscule amount of money. Of course to fix that one could train slayer with a cannon which is somewhat profitable and gives charms, but that is also considerably slower. I think the dependence upon luck of monster hunting gives an advantage to skilling, which is absolute and certain. You can spend 50 hours soloing GWD without getting a hilt (like I did :P), but 50 hours of 91 rc natures will always give you 50m. I agree that adding some luck into the equation would make things more interesting though.

Interesting article, but I disagree that combat is ridiculously overpowered and skilling is weak and puny. For the last year, GWD was extraordinarily fast money - following mathematical averages over 2M/hour in some cases. However, taking into account the recent drop in prices of hilts the highest gp/hour I've calculated as currently being possible is about 1.2M/hour by soloing bandos or saradomin (I'm not sure about armadyl as I don't know the kills/trip or time/kill, but I know that you take a lot more damage than saradomin and I don't imagine kills are much faster). I think it's fair to say that the skilling equipvalent of GWD is 91 runecrafting natures, which takes about an equally long time to get as truly good GWD stats (the ones necessary to get the 1.2M/hour described in the previous paragraph), and despite what people have said, it is not ruined for money. Although the profit per essence crafted has dropped considerably, the amount of essences possible to craft/hour has risen proportionally, meaning it is still about 1M/hour. This modern way of nature runecrafting (primarily the horned graahk) also has the bonus of giving more xp/hour than the old way. This does have the advantage over GWD in that it is guaranteed and steady, instead of hilts which are both very rare and unstable in price, plus it's a bit safer lol. So what do I think has changed? Combat temporarily gained an extraordinary advantage over skilling and then lost most of it. I have heard people saying that they can get over 1M/hour by hunting the Dagganoth Kings, but I am dubious of both whether this was ever possible, and even more so whether it is now with DK loot dropping very badly so I discounted this. I also ignored the Corporeal Beast since currently we don't know enough about it so give an average gp/hour... especially since most people who hunt it use lootshare in order to avoid placing the improperly priced sigils on the grand exchange, meaning you would have to do a truly absurd amount of Beast killing in order to get at the real money.

I might have gotten high A's in classes where I got borderline A's, but I always choose social events and such over runescape when presented with a choice so I don't think it's greatly impacted me there. Technically it's just "a time filler," but we all know that all fun time fillers tend to become more than that, especially when the alternative is something you don't want to do, like homework lol.

missed 94 attack by an even greater margin :P I'm taking a bit of a break from slayer now to enjoy my pack yak lol. After doing some math I discovered that solo bandos is now as profitable as solo sara. :wall: Since it's less of a time commitment, and safer (economically and physically) I decided to try and make some money there. Was a good idea. :P was from a mini as well, uber rare lol. for now I think I'll keep soloing, maybe branch out into some other monster hunting if I have time fyi I can get 3-4 kills/trip usually :D

I think that although it is amazing cool, it doesn't offer that great of an advantage since you don't really need to have such a wide angle of view... the minimap tells you everything you need to know (in the caves example, it's easy to figure out what dot is what by looking at what you can see)

cool quest but the zombie army was kind of pitiful/easily vanquished I'm beginning to suspect that the UBERQUEST will have to do with all the mahjarrats that are heading north and the stone of jas... as other people have pointed out, many clues have been released about the stone jas recently, which lucien is known to have followers searching for. Lucien was mentioned in this quest along with something about a ritual, and again about heading north... coincidence? I think not.

Since when is pathetic having foresight that the SGS was going to drop drastically after JaGex announcing more powerful weapsons? Sorry he was smart enough to wait and not spend so much money on a single item. OT: I had no idea SGS dropped so much, I might buy one myself since it is rather useful. Seen as the sgs started dropping before that was stated, and since those weapons haven't even came out yet, I doubt he had the foresight. I'm pretty sure he just bought a weapon at 60m below what it should be and then posted it thinking it was an achievement, it's not. Gtfo. Actually the SGS is closer to its "proper" price now than ever before. When Jagex released the Grand Exchange, they messed up incredibly in pricing the SGS/AGS. They both jumped tens of millions from their correct street price in November/December. Since then, the market has slowly been correcting itself, as more and more saradomin godswords have been traded through the GE, almost all of them at minimum price because it has not yet reached the price at which the "body" of rs would seriously be willing to buy one. Admittedly it's hard on GWDers, as well as those who bought it for more, but that's to be expected. Honestly who expected godswords to rise, as more and more of them are created every day?

Silly iron titan puts def ahead lol, so I'll get stuck with a dragon scimitar for a small amount of xp. :P I soloed bandos with the yak, failed so badly I only got 2 kills lol. I got that many last time I soloed with a terrobird. :wall: No pictures taken. I'll have to find another use for it :P
