  1. Maybe you should read my posts and realise I wasn't talking to you. It becomes particularly evident when you notice that I was quoting blue107 and that he was quoting me.

    Oh yes, I misread.

Hardcore can mean many things in music. Hardcore punk is just called hardcore by its fans. Happy hardcore is often just called hardcore by its fans.

No, you aren't guaranteed the prize.
  5. There are MSN troubles right now. My fiancee and I both use Trillian and we're getting booted off every 5 minutes. Our friends who use MSN report the same problems as you.
  6. The Simpsons, the one where Krusty reinvents himself as a down-to-earth comedian who won't sell out.
  7. Is there a way to make chatzilla a tab within firefox?
  8. Mine too. Alongside tailgaters and ditzy women drivers. People who commute into London because they already can't afford to live there.
  9. I'm pretty certain american 'SUVs' are bigger than European ones. Just about every american car I've set eyes on in person has been bigger than European cars.
  10. I wonder if the cost will apply to the hybrid 4x4s? As it stands there is a charge for driving in London anyway (̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã8 daily I think) and it doesn't apply to hybrid cars such as the Toyota Prius.
  11. Yeah, good advice. Sit and watch until you're sure you'll be outnumbered then hop in and get beaten to a pulp with them. Unless it was just you and him, your waiting to see if they are outnumbered before you jump in won't save them from being outnumbered.
  12. Don't go. Why on earth would you want to go to a fight? If they want to fight, fine. Why would they expect you to?
  13. Grammar. Runescape is Java, not Javascript - there is a difference. As far as I know, J2ME is not just a way of running normal Java applets on mobile devices. The J2ME applets have to be specifically programmed for J2ME. I have an HTC Universal running Windows Mobile 5.0 and Opera 8.6 for PocketPC (also tried running it in IE) and I tried running runescape as an experiment a while ago. It did not load the applet, and this Java capabilities better than J2ME. I'm almost there, 640x480 on mine :D If you think 800x600 runescape would be bad on a PocketPC screen, think about when I used VNC to control my main machine from my last PocketPC - controlling 3200x1200 on a QVGA (240x320) screen...
  14. Some don't understand the concept of the burden of proof though. They think it is 'because I asked first, you have to provide proof' that what is true at face value actually is.
  15. No, you shouldn't start arguments for the sake of it when you don't know what you're talking about. If you don't know the incidents that I'm referring to, why are you trying to start an argument about them? It's very simple: if you don't know what's going on, don't stick your nose into other peoples business.
  16. And for some people it is hopeless anyway, they are so happy believing what they do that, when faced with glaring evidence to the contrary, they don't hesitate to ignore it. That was not directed at the 'normal' religion arguments.
  17. If someone posts an offensive google video punish that person (though I believe google has much more stringent rules about content than youtube does, ironically). There is much more chance of someone posting an offensive html page, yet that is not censored. Oh wait, I did go in favour of uncensoring google. That was simply for reason's sake though, it doesn't actually affect me.

It isn't mine, it is an actual situation on an actual gameshow that actually happened. There was uproar amongst people who didn't understand why it was 2/3. I remember Mercifull posting on the last thread about it, perhaps he could explain more. The fact is the probability isn't the one you expect it to be. Academics got in slanging matches about it in the media and then it was eventually accepted that it is indeed 2/3 - though on first glance it seems it shouldn't be. What's more, the statistics on the gameshow of who won backed this up. I can't find the wikipedia page on it though.

I think you're drawing a parallel with this: On a game show there are three curtains. Behind two of the curtains are goats. Behind the other curtain is a Ferrari. The contestant has to choose one of the curtains to open, and he gets whatever is behind that curtain. So Bob the contestant picks a curtain to open. Before it is opened, however, Pat the host opens another curtain, showing the goat behind it. He then gives Bob the opportunity to switch curtains. Should Bob switch? And this is generally where the instructor gets to condemn anyone who says it doesn't matter. When Bob picked the first curtain, there was a 1/3 chance that the Ferrari was behind it, and a 2/3 chance that it was behind another curtain. So it is obvious that if he stays with the curtain he is at there will only be a 1/3 chance of winning the Ferrari. But if he switches, he will have a 2/3 chance. Copied and pasted from another site.
  20. http://video.google.com http://www.youtube.com Can you guess the point of my post? Since there is a sticky on the subject of youtube videos in off topic I'd assume that they have been considered okay by the staff. If you still haven't guessed the point of my post: Either neither should be censored or both should be, surely? I'm not campaigning either way, just pointing out an inconsistency.

Because it is trendy to have chocolate coloured things. The problem is the Zune isn't chocolate coloured - it is swamp water coloured.

Brown Zune looks like it's made of swamp-water gello.

Hooray for well-reasoned posts with no hint of fanboyism. I think it won't usurp the iPod's position simply because people are used to iPods and aren't willing to stick their necks out for a new product.
  24. The problem is when the wrong people start thread after thread trying to debunk X then ignoring all arguments against them. Fortunately the previous 2 topics of that sort have been locked because of this. They went away because someone banned them. That is true. Providing a well-reasoned counter is nothing like sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la la la la" as a certain someone does.
