I'm normally very positive about Jagex and their improvements, although the stake limit didn't dam the river but change its course: There's still the wilderness.

Summoning being confirmed, other reasons?
Sharane replied to One Too Far's topic in General Discussion
I don't think THIS is the big surprise Jagex will give us in January... It's a HUGE update, yes, but I have a gut feeling there's more to it than the almighty summoning skill. Then again, summoning a genie or something to carry my stuff during smithing trips would be handy. ^^ -
The very same thing happened with pures back when RS changed engine to become RS2. Runescape's still here, and so are pures.

Lumberjacks in Miscellania will be extremely happy to hear they're working for their own pocket money. ^^

Carpe diem. Why do people watch television and waste a good two hours watching a film? It serves no purpose in life knowing . Videogame-wise, nearly all RPGs and similar are based on clicking or keypresses; yes, how DOES a keypress differ than a mouseclick? All you do in WoW is tap your number keys and use the mouse to turn around to click the other icons on your hotkeys. :-k

Back when construction was released, they had us believe for the whole month we were going to be able to just make chairs. Moral: Never anticipate anything.

Related, but I'm missing a single achievement to access that bank. #-o

It didn't surprise me people voted for the max-hit the most... They don't care about using an awesome ANCHOR to fight with if a whip has less dps but single-handed. :-k

Must be a bummer trying to sign up on fansites with your RSN. :-k

You don't get it. There were only pures at the duel arena around the 50 levels. Everywhere past you got people with insane attack and defense levels fighting it out. Then you get the higher hundreds and most people had quite balanced skills. I don't know why you bring up RSC magic and ranging, but it is quite irrelevant because we are talking about RS2 and STAKING in RS2 at this CURRENT DATE. The fact is, this update doesn't ruin pures, they still got the wilderness. The fact is, this update ruined the people in the middle, the people that made new accounts to get the edge in winning money. The fact is, EVERYONE who staked before got hit, they lost a source of fun, a source of income. And now we got some horrible tournament crap-ola that looks like a grade four designed it. It's funny how you say Sharane doesn't get it, while you are the one who is totally missing the point. It isn't about the pures, it's just a comparison. If say (totally made up numbers) 5% of all accounts became obsolete thanks to the release of rs2 (pures that became obsolete thanks to the change to range and magic) and jagex didn't change it back, why do you think they would change the duel arena update if it made 2% of all accounts obsolete. Note. I am not saying I agree with it, I don't really have an opinion on it, I'm just trying to clarify what I believe Sharane was trying to say... That's exactly what I meant ray. :P

Satiric, but the wording used is just the same Jagex uses to assert players in believing their intentions and accepting them. :P
-
It doesn't stop pures...There were FAR more pures in RSC than there are staking accounts now (percentage-wise) and RS2 made them all obsolete. Did Jagex revert magic and ranged as secondary combat skills because of this? No.

That's fatigue. :P
-
Fatigue is the forefather of random events today albeit being more powerful to the extent words were randomly generated hence made very difficult to crack down with your average bot. Chinese farmers on the other hand became more prominent when RS2 was released and would have had it harder to do their "job" with fatigue. However it made things more tedious for everyone since even fighting took out fatigue with people having already-limited inventories forced to bring a sleeping bag and walk away from monsters when their fatigue was full. --- If not fatigue, then the slew of all the filler and "make things easier" updates they've released for the last three years are the worst updates ever released, and this includes Pest Control, childification of UI, simplicity of quests and thinking with their wallets than their minds and hearts as videogamers. Older players mostly like RSC not from nostalgia alone but the challenge it brought from doing a lot of activities, such as the Legends Quest where it killed off anyone whom nowadays would be whining the new quest stinks because he doesn't have the skills for them or the rune essence update which he cannot exploit anymore, irrelevant if the player is of high-level with the best equipment or not. Another off-topic point: Following a guide does not make a quest easy. \

While I rarely, if ever, duel and let alone gamble my wealth this does look like a very stupid move on Jagex's part. Instead of a 3k per 15 minute limit why didn't they set it so the staked items on both parties are betting items of identical or nearly identical value such as a 5-10% difference? First the random events, then the essence splitting, the shop update and now this? Jagex, please... :-s
-
Silly newbies... Fatigue was the worst updates in Runescape. It was also removed immediately when RS2 was released (even during beta). :P
-
That is a bummer... Though as I understood it, considering tourneys have the 2 player minimum can't stakers use it instead? :-k

I want to be a dwarf so their clothes actually fit me... What? :anxious:

There are no laws in the Wilderness; Anything goes. It's always been like that, but it's the loud minority that hits the majority's ears now. If you want regulated PvP, go to the duel arena. I don't see anybody complaining twenty players attack them at once during Castle Wars so what makes the Wilderness any different than when dozens of green blobs are fired at you? :-k You're talking how bad it is now, but go back to the first months of Runescape where anywhere beyond a town was free-for-all PvP and banks didn't exist yet. :-s

The Blast Furnace. [World 129 for teaming up]
Sharane replied to scoobypatch's topic in General Discussion
The topic is ancient... Way to necropost. :o -
Go play WoW for a while. Every time something changes everyone [bleep] about it, no matter what it is. Its a pain in the [wagon] let me tell you. actually with WoW theres Nearly half the players complaining about the new patch every time it comes out (mostly because it will nerf the overpowered class) Wasn't it the other way around and making particular classes totally unplayable due to constant nerfs to appease those invincible classes already? I've yet to see a retribution paladin beat anyone with the easiness a warlock has and they seemed so promising...

Try waiting a whole three months on other games for updates that just add a dungeon, a town, a handful of items and minor class changes that completely destroy game balance (That's you, Ragnarok Online) then come telling me additional updates to an ongoing online game are bad. Sure they may be crappy updates for you now, but for a player who would just begin playing today will be overwhelmed with things to do and the variety the game offers.

F2P? P2P? P2C? [Acdcfantony breaks 1000+ Views]
Sharane replied to Sinless_Hero's topic in General Discussion
I pay to not play for a long time now. While I seldomly play the game these days Jagex don't take donations in any way other than memberships and since I admire their work and what they do... You could say people like me are the exact opposite of the intended topic target. :-k Those people think it's the "in" thing to whine and complain about something that has absolutely no reason to be criticised for (like the assist system) to try and alleviate their social outcast levels. I don't pay them much attention. -
MechScape- Is a new MMORPG a good idea for JaGex?
Sharane replied to HyperViper's topic in General Discussion
What I assume MechScape will be is an action MMORPG where your character has a fully-customisable mech like on Front Mission games (Square Enix) in which different weapons actually show their different effects. Then again, until we do get some news about this game it's all speculation... FEAR MY DRILL-HEADED NUCLEAR MISSILES! -
Ironically I began playing this game when I was thirteen (six years ago) and looking back, I was more or less a big newbie when it came to online games and socialising with strangers online. With experience I've matured through that phase and some people actually took me as an example! This is the problem with Runescape today: People don't give a chance to other people anymore. It's a criminal attitude and should change immediately. :-k
