That, unfortunetely, does have its bad puns. :( I think Jagex maybe need to broaden the homourous side of the game. I can't remember what quest it's in, but there's cutscene where it talks about the average life span of a Falador Guard only being about 10 seconds or something like that, and then some player comes along and kills them. That was funny. Or when they comment on the actual behaviour of players in-game. I've seen a few tongue-in-cheek jokes. I want a bit more satire. The puns get very old, very fast. :-$
  2. Actually, they stopped the tradeable holiday drops because of the "Selling santa 100k" on the VERY DAY THEY WERE DROPPED. People purposely misunderstood Jagex's holiday spirit for greedy purposes and that was the consequence. Other than that, I agree with everything.
  3. The only skill that will really benefit from this is the farming skill due to the time factor and people unwilling to risk their precious seeds for someone else to grow them as they might die.
  4. One of the first Runescape players as well as long-time supporter of tip.it, the first Runescape fansite. It's nice to see these people are still remembered as it brings good memories of a tightly-knit community. I may not be as popular as they are but I'm proud just the same to be their contemporary of that player generation. ^^
  5. I can raise my annoying skills without ever touching materials, why is that... Oh, right. But think of it this way: If I can't do something, get someone to do it for me. It fits the update perfectly.
  6. Honest people refuse generous gifts such as that, and the way I usually know I can trust people since they don't accept some valuable over me (I offer some people my one party hat and they refuse it). Having your own MOTHER die is the saddest thing that can happen in a lifetime... He wasn't telling the truth even if Runescape was his life. If my mom died I wouldn't be near anyone or anything else. Of course, it's also the ultimate scapegoat used by people to avoid further insults and getting away with things (I remember this back from my school days a lot, with others picking fights on me then they start crying when I lose my temper and have no control over my tongue). In the end, you were gullible to a pretty childish trick.
  7. Anyone who whines has never worked in their life before. Ever. Nor doesn't know the times those two skipped holidays just for the game. -.-
  8. The first thing I thought when I saw this was "Woohoo, a new MMO to waste my free time on!" The first thing I thought when I saw this was "Wait... Runescape 40k? Didn't Warcraft do that with Starcraft already?" Priority or not, it'll be nice to see Jagex moving on than with just Runescape. Jagex isn't Runescape as Warcraft isn't Blizzard nor Final Fantasy is Square Enix. \
  9. Has anyone done the second part of the HAM questline, where you fight off the villain who keeps using prayer depending on your attack style? That, only with a monster much stronger than the ones in the God Wars Dungeon, preferrably under the banner of Guthix such as a giant serpent or an elf crystal creature that is immune to his target's attack style. It could also go another way and have it immune to any singular or dual attack styles and only be harmed when attacked by the three styles at the same time. I have no particular names for it but that would definetly force players to work in teams to kill the boss.
  10. I agree with the guide part fully. People constantly commented on how easy the Legends Quest and Desert Treasure are for master quests when their first instinct is to read a guide? Please. On one we have a quest where a player can proceed in various ways with varying difficulty (get the obsidian dagger or use the holy blast scroll?) and the other involves fighting four of the most dangerous enemies in the game due to terrain and difficulty of said enemies. I died on Kamil TWICE before discovering the trick to beat him. This comes to another point: Whenever a new quest is released, the very first posts you see are "How do you get over this?" "Where do I get this?" "What am I supposed to do in this part?"... By Guthix people, Jagex even provided you with a quest journal and you can't do a quest without help from others? #-o
  11. Considering Scapeboard/Tip was the first and largest Runescape fansite and base made by the pioneers who started playing the game as well as having the very founders of Jagex visit here would naturally make an official fansite. If tip.it is filtered, it's because Jagex has a rule against advertising websites. It's even in the reportable offences in-game.
  12. Dupe Day happened years before RuneScape was on Miniclip. On Runescape Classic even. The community always had its share of bad apples but as an old friend put it, "the essence of humanity is the absence of blame". People couldn't take it upon themselves to try and ostracise the bad seeds so when Jagex made the move to officially advertise on a different site people began blaming Miniclip for the influx of new players as them all being bad. For the record, I've joined years before that has happened so I can tell what the community was like, how small and compact people were when less than 10k players were playing at a time on the 1-6 servers and by the time the game grew the percentage of idiots grew as did the community. I've grown playing Runescape as my pass-time and I wouldn't have become the patient, tolerant and hardworking person I am now. :-$
  13. You misunderstood my first point marker for a grammar mistake and it's not even related to the topic. Besides, I simply made a correction since people begin inventing words which ruin their English essays (I DID see friends using leetspeak, replacing "you" with "u") such as safers, prayerers, ers, etc. Okay, I won't spam anymore so I'll just say I am a merchant myself though I usually begin by selling something of high value I made on my own, like a gross of 3-dose prayer potions (A gross = 144 units). My type of merchant will really benefit from this future update since the selling of handmade products will be eased whereas rare items can still be sold in the old fashioned way.
  14. People do that in other games, including me. However like on other games this will most likely be timed to around 24 hours which then sends the item back to your bank if not bought.
  15. I'll try building a scenario: A, B, C sell coal for 100 each and all have a stock of 1k, D sells coal for 200 each and has a stock of roughly 20k, People will EAT UP the cheap 3k coal, leaving D as the only seller left which people will buy from and eventually run him out of stock. ----------------- Think outside the box when it comes to global trade: People buy and sell things continuously, and buying the cheapest items will result in their stock running out very very quickly, raising the price of the lowest cost item.
  16. One, merchanting is not a word; You either say merchandising or simply active trading. Two, many people seem to glorify merchandising and its ease when there are a lot of flaws in how it works out. Also, something popular is eventually flooded breaking the system and wild price changes begin to happen due to the flood of products in the market. I've seen it happen with Deviate fish and Primal Elements in World of Warcraft among some things, MvP loot in Ragnarok Online, and heck even the Doctor/Heavy combo in Team Fortress 2! Three, the Grand Exchange will not damage merchandising but IMPROVE it. Sellers will have the commodity of selling their wares amongst all the worlds which for regular items such as hides, ore, essence and potions with stable price ranges being processed with ease whereas higher-value items will introduce some much needed healthy competition between aggressive merchants selling the wares and perhaps even out prices to eliminate the wild variations people invent to take advantage of others. I personally don't hate merchants, but I do hate those acting as if a great update like this will ruin their role in Runescape. Anybody who does think it's a bad update is most likely a scammer in all cases.
  17. I can get my videogames from two sources: Online shops and local. Normally, a typical game from Play.com costs me around 19.99, the same game from Game.net costs me 23.99 while locally it costs 34.99. It's the same product though for various reasons each distributor may sell it for different prices (locally includes shipping costs and VAT). It doesn't make them scammers since the product is legitimate and they don't hide any information about the product in case it is faulty. Don't forget, the basis of scams are: *Take advantage of victim, *Lie about the product, *Sell it for a price much higher than it would be normally sold for. Travelling salesmen are scammers. :-$
  18. Blaming the Miniclip advert alone cannot justify how the community has grown into, since some of my closer friends now CAME from Miniclip and a big percentage of the idiots were in the game before the ad appeared on their website. I always wanted Make X for smithing. Do you know how tedious it is to have your all-time favourite skill become obsolete and shelved away by Jagex?
  19. Timewarp back more years when they released about 10 every year then tell me they've been slowing down on quests. :-k
  20. Last time something like this happened, we got Barbarian Assault as the first big update of the year. Everyone knows how players reacted to that minigame.
  21. People are forgetting one major factor to this: Trade scams are destroyed since you cannot trick the system into changing prices or items as you would in the traditional trading system. Who here hasn't almost fallen victim of somebody selling you 1k iron ore with coal prices, or remove a zero from the whip you just sold?
  22. I got called a noob by someone about to be "free trimming" scam. Go figure. #-o
  23. The release of the Legends Guild (back on classic) was the peak of Runescape. I'm not quite sure what started the "downfall" but it had to be around a year after the engine change or so (Runescape 2's beginning). I've been around since 2001 playing on and off and I have to say the game always shifted between rises and downfalls but never went as low as to make me lose interest so quickly when I log on. Yes, there were a lot of idiots back on classic as well but for the most part making new friends was easy, even with high-level players as well as the newbies. Nowadays, new players are either bots, Chinese farmers, gold diggers, underage players or nuisances; genuine nice new players are extremely rare.
  24. I've got one thing to say to this: Die world 1 die!
  25. ROFFLEZ! Its amazing no one call spell that right. OT: Noob is a word that people use loosely without knowing the true meaning. I used to call it Karamaja for years.
