A Quest Drought?

I was looking through the Runewiki list of Quests and their release dates and noticed this year so far has been slightly less than previous years. Including the upcoming goblin quest, we've had 14 so far this year, and I imagine we'll only be getting one or two more in December. Comparatively, in 2006 we received 21 quests; and in 2005 24. In 2006 we also received Hunter and Construction. In August this year, we had the first month ever when no quest was released since April 2004 (at which time RS2 was being worked on).

 

 

 

Focus:

 

What are your thoughts on all of this? Do we need more quests? Have the other updates Jagex have provided instead of quests being sufficient, or have the quality of updates in general declined? Do we have enough quests - should they instead focus on improving skills and adding minigames? What should be done?

A quest every once in a while doesn't hurt. I think 12/year would be ok. I want deeper storylines with more mature themes like vengeance, betrayal, passion, destiny, etc. Doesn't have to be outrageous.. just something deeper.

theres already so many skills, and even lots of members quests, so i think a few hard f2p quest would be kinda spiffy, even if most people prob wouldn't do um.

I require hugs. Seriously, just give them to me, and youll see your little turtle again.

There has been less quests but there was also the creation of two achievement diaries this year. Also they could have been working on something grand. *hopes*

One question:Why does this matter????

Playing for 4 years with only 3 drag drops. most amount of cash ever had: 15m :P

Something tells me im not very good at this game...

That's true, I forgot about the achievement diaries. It just seems that they've been working on a few more technical/communicative/system things lately, like the clan chat system, new shop system, better examine descriptions, new interfaces and all that jazz. Those things are okay, but not when they're all clumped into one month update, or when their implementation postpones other practical/quest/minigame content. I do wonder what this new thing is, and I hope it meets its hype.

 

 

 

One question:Why does this matter????

 

 

 

Because I'm interested in people's thoughts towards quests and update content, as Jagex appear to be catering to the suggestions of players slightly more.

We couldn't part from you without mentioning something very, very big on the horizon. The new year brings a stunning new update, and we are so happy with it that we are going to let a few hints trickle out over the next few weeks...

 

 

 

Well, if GWD wasn't big, this'll make up for our few quests.

Around February, they churned out half-baked quests like there was no tomorrow. It was sickening, to be honest. I am glad they toned it down.

 

 

 

+1. Until I got my first Skill Cape in April, I had to keep up with every one of those stupid quests :x. Fremminik Isles was ownage though, one of my favorite quests ever. Some of the recent quests like Grim Tales, Path of Glouphire, and Back To My Roots are pretty high level. However "high level" to Jagex is like 71 WC and 95 combat :roll:.

They are doing good for quests, not much barely any storyline or reward quests this year. Quest requirements are increasing and that's a good thing.

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Timewarp back more years when they released about 10 every year then tell me they've been slowing down on quests. :-k

They are doing good for quests, not much barely any storyline or reward quests this year. Quest requirements are increasing and that's a good thing.

Jagex have been working on content to improve the game this year more so than other years. Quests are little things with alot of coding that keeps u players busy while they work on a piece of content.

 

 

 

I prefer JaGex improving the graphics of the game and all the other things before they add new things.

So what? Those aren't levels that just everyone has - they can take a fair amount of time. A quest aimed at level 110s would be pretty damn limited. Similarly, they're going to have to build up the quest requirements slowly if they do ever reach a point that will satisfy the 100+ or 110+ bracket.

Farming is an awesome skill you know.. :roll: Too bad so far the current high requirement focus is on wc.

Jagex has maybe gone out of ideas, and that's why they haven't added as much quests this year as they used to do. Myself I would like more deep and long quests, but not neccessarilly new areas. And I think that F2P should get some new quests too.

Honestly, a quest that required you to be level 110 combat to start it would make the Quest Cape actually somewhat honorable to wear. You forget how many people achieved 110+ during the PC Era.
