Of course it works sitting in your closet. Without use, there's nothing to break. I've had problems with both iPods I've had. The screens aren't really durable, and the hard drive failure rate is around 10-20% (stats from 2005, found on Wikipedia). Plus, the screen scratches incredibly easily, as I quickly found out with both of mine. I would go with the Zune if I had to pick. It's about the same price as the iPod (at least for the 120GB model), but it's more durable, looks nicer, and can do more (FM radio anyone?). So the UI isn't perfect, it's still easy to use and get to what you want. I would much prefer a Zune over a new iPod I've had two Zunes, the first ones lcd failed upon opening it from the box, the 2nd's hard drive failed after around 6 months.

When I was in 7th grade, there was a hobo vandalizing our school every night for about a week. Finally it got so bad that they had to shut down school for a day because he totally smashed a couple windows and other stuff. The police eventually captured and identified him. That day we missed school is known as hobo-day by all the people who it affected. Another very set of strange events happened at my school about 2 weeks ago. About 2 weeks ago a freshman passed out of some migraine condition. The next day a freshman passed out due to a medicine allergy. The next day a sophomore passed out from anxiety (i think). The next day a sophomore passed out of lightheadedness from sickness. The next day a freshman passed out of sickness again. So in total there were all unrelated cases of passing out. People started getting paranoid, thinking we had carbon monoxide poisoning, so the school ordered an environmentalist scientist to test for any airborne poisons - not finding any. It turns out all of these were actually unrelated and coincidentally consecutive. I've never heard of anyone passing out at my school, but then all of a sudden like 6 people do in a row. Probably the biggest coincidence I've ever witnessed.

Just wanted to take a small part out... In any public debate/sharing of opinions I'm almost instantly hated for saying anything positive about Bush, and labeled with some of the above things. It's frustrating to have to withhold the entirety of my opinion merely to avoid the enormous amount of hate aimed at me. Of course, the Democrats do it also. But it is pretty obvious, given you know the real facts, that most of the statements in this article are the very attacks John McCain used against Obama, most being overblown or just plain false. As for people blindly invalidating your opinions because you say positive things about Bush, well those people probably don't know [poop] about politics and are just another talking sheep in the heard, listening to overblown claims as shown above. Regardless, in my opinion, Bush was an absolute horrible president and I have absolutely zero respect for him; and I'm not even very Democrat. But yes, Bush has done some good things. If you are against the overblown and hatred-derived statements and facts about Bush, then why can't you see that that is exactly what this article is doing to Obama?

Well, each computer has a custom beep-error message according to a specific problem. I know on my computer 2-beeps means a memory error. Search beep error messages for your computer and just make sure its the keyboard. If you have already done that, and are using standard optical keyboard, try plugging in a usb keyboard. Most motherboards won't let you boot-up unless you have a working keyboard attached. If the usb keyboard doesn't work then sadly it is your motherboard, or your keyboard itself (unlikely). Only way to fix would be to get a new motherboard if that is the case.

From experience, I've had alot of trouble with non-ipod music players, while my 1st gen ipod mini has been just fine for years collecting dust in my closet. Get the ipod.

People in general use programs, then exit them. They don't need them constantly running. Thats the reason why startup programs are mostly useless, with exception to people who need antivirus shields or instant messager. Laura, its a solution, not a panacea. The only way it wouldn't be permanent is if you then went out of your way and re-enabled all of those programs at start up. Don't tell me it is nominal because I work at a computer shop and unneeded memory usage is one of the most basic and common problems I deal with - It is not nominal and it does help, especially in the case of the OP, having waaay to many processes.

No, actually deleting your startups would be a permanent solution. If you absolutely needed to have a program running at all times such as msn, sure, don't turn it off from startup. But otherwise it'll save a huge amount of memory, fixing the problem forever.

Don't assume that. There are lots of other possible malware things that could be causing them, and not even ad-aware might be able to find them. Anyway, a full HJT log is needed before you do anything else. No there is not, think about the intentions and obvious motives of the malware, think about what its doing. Its obvious spyware.
