  1. That's like asking if you and your best friend or any family member won't have anything to talk about anymore. Granted none of us have that kind of relationship with each other, but it's the quantity of all of our ideas and everything that we just won't ever run out of things to talk about.
  2. tell that to my 10 billion net worth and swarm of people around me whenever i log in Playing devil's advocate here, what's that have to do with respectability?
  3. It will make it so merchants can't profit like they used to, but it'll save everyone time, and time's money, so I think it's a greater good. It really seems jagex doesn't see merchanting as part of the game anymore. I think it will help merchanting big rares though. I'd love to drop a party hat in there, set an asking price on my own terms, and whatever amount of time later it takes for that to become the price I'll be happy with.
  4. I'll occasionally play the SNES. A lot of those games are still really fun. I play it more than my N64 for some reason. Right now although I have a wii at home I'm at college and I mostly (when i have the chance) play my gamecube I brought up here. Figured I'd be nice and let my brother have the wii (and so I won't get too distracted here).
  5. Hope you stick around on the forums. There's always room for you in off-topic. :)
  6. Good luck with your goals and your advertising. Surprising for as long as you've been around on other sites you registered here so short ago.
  7. Your whole argument is based off your idea that runescape's community is declining, but you haven't even backed up that premise. Care to do so?
  8. If it is agreed that the best move is to do what the majority of what the community wants, should we just have a vote to keep or remove specific stickies like hello/goodbye stickies, etc? That way people won't complain afterwards because it represents what the community wants.
  9. Well it's the same in that it's a post-apocalyptic scenario. 28 Days Later is more of a zombie movie, and this one is more of a last man on earth movie. And they're using music from "The last man" soundtrack from Clint Mansell too. I know you know about that song.
  10. Ard as well as a lot of other people, you've been mentioning that it's the responsibility of the members of this forum to bring change through attitude/behavior. I'm disagreeing that there is a problem in the first place, but I'd just like to say that I don't think that's the right approach to take in changing things (although again I don't see any changes needed). This board does have a city feel now. It's had it for a few years. These people aren't complaining about scapeboard vs. now, they're complaining that their random questionnaire spam threads are getting contained. Trying to get the community to change by asking them won't work. It's not that they're against it. It's just that the community changes every month. Over a year the faces here change so much you can tell the community one thing now and it'll be a complete new one after. The only real way to effect the community is by changing the board's entire atmosphere, descriptions of boards, rules, etc. And I think it's already set up optimally for that. People just behave this way regardless when you have large forums. It's great we're having open discussion about this but as long as we have a large forum things are just going to be the way they are. People don't really know what's going on, they think things have changed but they haven't. If I made a "things are really going great here at tip it! Here's an example!" thread, I would get just as many positive agreeing replies as agreeing replies in this thread. It's so easy to convince people that a trend is going on with one example in regards to communities. So again I just don't see much we can do, and I think things are fine as they are now.
  11. I've been here for years now and nothing seems different to me. Is it really fair to make an assumption this fast? I mean if you compare one day to another at the other extreme, you can have a huge difference. Get readjusted to here and you'll find everything's fine.
  12. What's this talk of 99hp limitations and stuff have to do with anything? Member growth has to do with how many people load up and play rs for the time, and of those who do, who jagex retains. Sure there's a .001% of rs who leaves because they've reached 99hp and there's nothing left to do, but that's nothing compared to the real growth factors that happen on f2p.
  13. Nice work. Especially useful for the occasion where someone puts up a legitimate link, lets the thread grow a few pages, then replaces it with a bad one.
  14. I would say for the majority of people, because there aren't any better options at the time.
  15. For old stuff on tip it you can go to archive.org and use the waybackmachine to find a ton of old stuff dating pretty far back. I have a ton of pictures from beta of bugs and random things, I might get around to posting them later.
  16. And friends tell friends to ditch RS and go to WOW too. And friends tell friends to stop playing RS because it's a nerdy game. There's two sides to that coin. Granted word of mouth is probably one of the main contributors to the game's growth, I do think the rate of people playing and joining has dropped a lot. I read some numbers awhile ago backing this up but forgot what they were. It's pretty obvious though, since peak numbers have stopped raising for a long time now.
  17. Don't you think that could have been solely as a result of your meditative state though? I do think that is very likely, but I would like to put emphasis on the fact that I was very tired at the time. I think that if you were tired that would only make it easier for you to relax into a trancelike state, unless you were agreeing with me. edit: I did some reading, and it seems like the main effect these have, if any, is that they match up with your own brain waves you would have at other times. If you're sleeping or very alert, your brain waves may differ (omega, gamma, etc) compared to a regular state. These frequencies you listen to supposively alter your own brain waves to synch with the frequency of the music. I'll give it that, but in no way can these mimic drugs like alcohol or LSD. It took a doctor to create a compound for LSD - those hallucinations you guys were mentioning were probably just floaters or after images from lights. Same goes for alcohol, marijuana, etc. These can effect your alertness, focus you, relax you, etc, but they're just not going to have the same effects as drugs do. There isn't enough of a spectrum of frequencies to have that kind of a variety of effects on the brain. You might feel relaxed from something and might associate that with marijuana, but that's really where it ends.
  18. It can be sometimes hard to find stuff if you aren't exactly sure what you are looking for, but overall it is a good site. Free and legal books/movies/music/ect... is always good :D . EDIT: Forgot what I was going to post Here is a list of 38 replacements for TV-Links. I still prefer just to get the shows from torrent sites, but whatever floats your boat. You're the faster digger. :( I loaded this about to post that same link. Alluc.org seems to be a big one, but it doesn't have as many new links.
  19. Don't you think that could have been solely as a result of your meditative state though?
  20. I was pretty bummed out when I heard this. They had so many links to great shows and movies.
  21. I think it's just self induced hypnosis. In your mind you set expectations for how a drug effects your mind. Then when you're already in a somewhat meditative state, you go into a trance where you're susceptible to suggestion. Since you're looking for effects, anything that you think might be an effect from the music you blow out of proportion, intensify yourself, focus on, and make yourself think is an effect from the music. If you don't believe this kind of hypnosis is possible, watch what Derren Brown does to people without music or anything: I think it would be awesome if this was legitimate, but it just isn't. A lot of people here probably tried torrenting these, and the only replies to this thread were from those who it worked for. That's why it seems like it worked so well on people. It just worked best on those who easily can trick themselves into thinking something's going on that isn't.
  22. Interesting question. What I'm wondering is if it's direct or indirect. Let's say there's a thunderstorm going on. Do people indirectly get energetic because they're excited by all the chaos and change going on outside? Or is it more biologically direct?
  23. It's great that we have these kind of members, but it's not like they're emerging suddenly now. They've always been around. They haven't started suddenly exponentially increasing in the game. If this thread is just about giving praise to them fine, but I don't get why you think out of nowhere there became an influx of these kind of members.
  24. Things like this have always been around. What exactly has changed? There have always been a group of people on any site who make contributions to the community.
  25. I remember seeing that checkbox on a lot of standardized fill in the bubble tests before college. I can't see much justification, but as a race I guess they're still healing from how they've been wronged and with constant affirmative action because the rest of the world apparently is unable to treat them equally so we have extreme cases like this.
