  1. How do you know how few new players are joining the game? Are you privvy to information that noone else in this thread is? If not then you are just speculating.
  2. I'm pretty sure the new ClusterFlutterer would stop any injection based client from scraping the hiscores
  3. I'd love a turkey hat but I don't see myself getting another 90 day card for it. Was only last month that I got the green skin. At the rate Jagex are releasing these vanity items via mem cards people will be accumulating more members than they will ever use... perhaps that's the point?
  4. Lets hope so or else Jagex will have just killed all calculators and tracking websites for f2p. I suppose on a slightly positive note this could be an opportunity for dedicated f2p highscore websites being created by fans?
  5. They should just add an extra variable to the scores of p2p or f2p. By default it only shows p2p but you can set your highscorse preferences to display p2p only, f2p only or p2p+f2p.
  6. I'm all for gambling in RuneScape as long as like Nuke says it has no or little economic impact. Players should never be the "house".
  7. Just saw a post on RSOF from someone asking to add in an in-game casino and my first thought was that it might be a fun thing... but the people who are hosting dice scams games don't really want casinos to be added into the game they want to BE the casino! The house ALWAYS wins in the long run. lol
  8. Good riddance. I'll probably get flamed for this, and I admit I'm generalising so tuff titty, but pretty much all the dicing "companies" were taking the gp paid to them by the hosts and selling them RWT for irl cash. It's a shame the dice had to be removed (they have legitimite uses) but it had to be done. Can we now assume that any gambling outside of the official avenues (dueling, conquest, rat pits etc) is now against the rules? Can I now report the people who are probably as I type playing "flower game", "guess the egg colour", "what seal will I be", "dungeon cape game" etc for breaking the rules?
  9. Not quite true... I was at that session. They said that Jagex have overcome one of the aspects about mounts specifically about having your character outside of the square. However there are still technical limitations with the engine when it comes to moving faster. Apparently something to do with jumping around the screen instead of moving smoothly but swiftly. Basically, no mounts. The 64x64 boss referred to was part of the "things you'll never see in runescape" session so no its not coming out really, it was just a fun little thing. As for the other bits, hotbar, xp counters etc. Thats true.
  10. Edit: Oops thought this was a different forum
  11. It's the most amount of dungeoneering i've ever done in a weekend! lol I'm not really a big fan of the minigame skill and the "pro" players can be very rude if you are a slowpoke and dont really know what to do. This weekend brought out a lot of mid-level dungeoneers (65-80) which allowed us to group together and take things at a pace which was comfortable to us. Went from level 67-73 so I'm happy with that :) My preference for these bonus things is the hati paws though, so you can do it at your own pace and it has a set amount of bonus. With dungeoneering they could give you a special aura that goes in that slot so it doesnt disrupt any dungeoneering items
  12. The coke "holidays are coming" advert was on TV earlier which means its now officially xmas season :P
  13. When I was in school (which wasn't long ago) I was told the two minutes silence was a time for quiet and personal reflection on what happened but now it just seems to be 2 minutes of not speaking which is a bit sad really. When the place I was at was observing the 2 minutes silence people were still texting, browsing the internet, writing emails etc.
  14. Most of those 400 are player support staff, then there are dozens of developers, engine coders, artists, musicians etc. Only a small percentage of jagex staff are "community". RuneScape has LONG had a large Dutch community but staff aren't cheap and I guess its hard to justify spending £15-20k to do a few ingame events with the dutch players.
  15. Your own research is rubbish. The claim filed by Impulse against Jagex found in favour of Jagex
  16. I'm sure i've said this before but i'll say it again. Jagex need to capitalise on the Facebook/Google+ casual gamers. I don't want to hear rants and moan about how secure Facebook is or lame or whatever but no one can deny that the potential for growth here is HUGE. CityVille has 76m players, SimsSocial has 66m players. By comparison RuneScape claims to have about 15m accounts (active). Jagex need simply shove a SD version of the game into a Facebook frame (with a link to load in resizeable perhaps?) and just create highscores pages within Facebook for your rank of all Facebook players (including those who have linked to Facebook but still play on runeScape.com or the client etc) and your rank among your real life friends. Then it can shove messages (if you allow it) into your timeline which would basicly be anything that goes to your adventures log. As proven by the toolbar Jagex are able to tell you if your friends are online or what the status of your grand exchange offers are without you logging into the game. Anything which can be shown on the toolbar could be shown within a Facebook app also. There are a lot of haters of Facebook but its got 800m+ users, thats a huge base to tap into, and at the end of the day it would be completely optional and someone who just wants to register and play through the rs.com site can and will continue to be able to do so without any loss in game play. When it comes to encouraging play, Jagex have done a good job in removing grind at higher levels but I think they need to go a bit further in making some more lower levelled but high reward quests for free players to hook them into the game.
  17. Do you seriously expect Jagex to have a jmod that speaks fluently in every language just incase someone insults the other? What about a mod that understands Africaans, what about Georgian or Ometo?
  18. Jagex could give him some consultancy work without him being an actual fulltime Jagex employee.
  19. lol Tripsis you cropped me out the shot :P
  20. I would say yes. As would trading a prize such as lifetime membership for ingame items or rl money.
  21. If.. and its a big if... Jacmob got a bot client working properly for more than an hour or two then its highly likely he broke some of Jagex's patented technologies to do so and would be ins serious legal troubles had he released it.
  22. Jacmob was at RuneFest. I can only assume there were some detailed discussions in private about it.
  23. It's not the only bot though... how long til the others give up?
  24. That was so that the refund period passed and people can't chargeback ;) Cunning move. Epic win from Jagex :D
  25. It's the boss at the top of the tower ;)
