  1. Most of them I've been introduced to by other people. My french teacher is rather old and has had us watch many of the older ones (Jean de Florette, Le retour de Martin Guerre, La Gloire de mon père, Au revoir les enfants, Les diaboliques). For a project on French New Wave cinema for my film class we had to watch: Les quatre cents coups, À bout de souffle, and Week End. Some of them I know because of the unit for film we did on Palme d'Or winners: Entre les murs (2008), La symphonie pastorale (1946), also Persepolis won the Jury Prize in 2007. La pianiste and Belle de jour I watched for a documentary I had to write on sex and nudity in cinema :???: . Amélie and Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (screened as I've Loved You So Long in English countries) are recent movies that did well in American theaters too, if I remember correctly. Many of them are slightly obscure, artsy things that people who aren't film snobs wouldn't necessarily be drawn to, but my film teacher is super picky. Also, I don't watch many Québécois movies because I find the accent hard to understand, having learned very traditional Académie française French. We have one substitute who sometimes subs for our French teacher who is from Montreal and I basically can't understand a thing she says in French or English.
  2. Never thought about recommending movies. Here are some that are really good, although some are kinda old, also note that French cinema is often very sad: Jean de Florette Manon des sources Les quatre cents coups À bout de souffle Week End (by Godard, there are several films with similar titles) Ma vie en rose (very bizarre, it's about a young transgender boy) Persepolis Il y a longtemps que je t'aime La pianiste (very graphic and sexual) Amélie La passion de Jeanne d'Arc Le retour de Martin Guerre Belle de jour (extremely sexual) La Gloire de mon père Le château de ma mère Au revoir les enfants Les diaboliques La Symphonie Pastorale Un homme et une femme Entre les murs Wow, didn't think I would come up with a list that long. Anyways, most of them I've watched for my French or Film classes. You also might want to look them up before watching them, some are rather sexual (although I noted the worst offenders), but I don't know if that's a problem for you. Edit: Oh, forgot to mention, although most of these are available with English subtitles, I highly recommend watching them with either French or no subtitles. If you need to look up a synopsis first to get and idea of what's going to happen, the try to immerse yourself in the French.
  3. I'm currently in French 5B at my High School (as part of the IB program, don't worry if you have no idea what that is), our teacher taught us two exercises which really helped with our listening comprehension: Dictations: pick a French text on the level that you read and have someone read it one sentence at a time and try to write it yourself, skip lines and after you're through use a red pen to re-write the words you didn't pick out correctly, it'll develop you're ear for words that sound similar and give you a better understanding of complex sentence constructions Listen to music: you can also try to listen to some French pop music, read the lyrics a couple of times, then listen and eventually try to sing along or pause and repeat what they just sang. Some fast Yelle or Carla Bruni music should do fine, but you can try anything you want that's at least moderately fast Besides practicing listening or using some of these exercises, I can't really come up with anything else for you. The only way to do better is to practice.
  4. But it doesn't mention that in the item list at the top. If you don't read the guides through once before you start, you'll already be in the desert before you realize you need to switch and travel back.
  5. Amazing guide, the way you apply the lighting is really good. About Banding, I can tell from the image what it is, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean by angles aligned with other angles.
  6. Just going back to what I said in my original post (about the User Agent Switcher addon). You've said above that you believe it will make FireFox "unstable", which is blatantly not true. But from this it sounds like you're using an outdated version of FireFox, because loading bookmarks/history in the sidebar is no longer the default action (it's an overlay now). Is that the case?
  7. When doing the quest yesterday I noticed that not all of their directions are in order and some are repeated, it got awfully confusing realizing that you have to skip several directions because you're already at another spot. The part with the cloths line is particularly out of order.
  8. I got interested in the Tribes franchise when InstantAction bought it (only to sell it back later when they went bankrupt). I played Fallen Empire: Legions (it's called Legions: Overdrive now) a bit and like it. When this comes out of beta I'll take a look and see how much Legions was really inspired by Tribes.
  9. I did Darkness of Hallowvale just yesterday, and I can attest to the fact that navigating the course the first time was confusing, I had to use a combination of Tip.it's guide and the guide on the RuneScape wikia just to figure out some of the directions. It would make it much easier if the directions were formatted in a list with one step per item. There should also be a note right after the directions that after the first time it's much, much faster to get caught by the Vyrewatch, mine the ore, and run south, then go through the last few steps of the maze to get back to the hideout. Another important note is to buy the Vyrewatch clothing, since it reduces the chance of getting caught by the Vyrewatch, but if you want to get caught and go to the mines you really need to take it off. I know it would be a lot of work, but a guide for navigating the maze using the shortcut key could be nice too. Also, about this line: You need to talk to him once, end the conversation, and talk to him again before he'll offer to take you back through.
  10. If this is a personal issue, my recommendation would be to try FireFox with the User Agent Switcher extension installed. Then you can simply change your user agent to a mobile browser (mobile Safari works just fine) and view sites using their mobile designs whenever you want.
  11. Just for the record, you don't need to complete As a First Resort... to cut eucalyptus logs. They're east of Mobilizing Armies and you can bank there or use the spirit tree to travel to the Grand Exchange.
  12. "A missing wall in a tower in Lumbridge has been replaced. "
  13. I've noticed that the images on some pages aren't floating correctly, for example: [spoiler=Skill Planners] But correctly on other pages: [spoiler=Special Calculators] Before you ask, I'm using FireFox Beta 9.0
  14. The graphics were great and the plot was actually interesting (in comparison to the boring Murder Mystery quest that I could have cared less about the story). Loved the voice acting too, it made it much more realistic and dramatic. Edit: Can anyone think of a good use for the robes, like a musician that's close to a good training area that could use prayer?
  15. I just wish they wouldn't post none-update crap on the homepage so I wouldn't get all excited when I see a new post and then realize it's about some YouTube videos.
  16. I brought it up because if both are malfunctioning then the issue has to deal with the indexing of new content.
  17. This sounds like a complete overhaul of the combat system, which could be good, but I'm also apprehensive that it will mess everything up and be a mess and we'll have to relearn the whole game.
  18. When I go to "View New Content" I'm also getting an error saying that there's none, which is obviously incorrect, the "View My Content" feature looks like it's broken too, it's stopped updated about the same time that "View New Content" stopped working.
  19. You can use a sacred clay hammer for the cannon repair portion of the Artisans workshop.
  20. This is an incorrect statement, Equilibrium does not affect the rate at which you successfully hit (which is determined by your attack level), it only affects possible damage range on successful hits.
  21. This has bothered me for a long time, some things we know for sure are RDT drops and not the monster's real drops and they should either have their own page, or be separated out on each monster's page.
  22. Not true most anti cheat mechanism detect repeating strings of data or modified actions. Ever heard of nProtect GameGuard? It's the anti-cheating software bundled with Aion, Lineage II, and dozens of other Asian produced MMORPGs. Wikipedia describes what it does as: I'll admit that it's mostly the Asian games that use this kind of software, but American and European publishing companies have been quick to accept it's use as necessary. Spyware in the name of game security isn't new.
  23. RuneScape's F2p content still pales in comparison to LoL, so even if people chose not to vote because of bots, LoL still deserves the win.
  24. I got the crate expectations event the first time, it's not based on skill at all, just luck. I lost and exp reward was pitiful.
