As long as I don't die directly, i'm good!

What do you guys think about all the things to do out there that will not kill you directly, like poision, but will kill you indirectly or over a long period of time such as smoking and Dr. Pepper?

Why consider taking up smoking?

Well, smoke tastest good obviously.. MMM just like hamburgers indeed.

Why consider drinking Dr. Pepper or Cola?

Well obviously because it looks black. Anything black is defiantly healthy for you and a small side benifiet of tasting great.

So I have decided to do a experiment.

Plants need water to grow and live as humans do, so I will have 2 plants, one I will put in water, the other I will put in Dr. Pepper.

On another one, plants need air, so I will have 1 for air, and the other plant constantly filled in a smokey room.

Its obvious for 1 to know the results.

So ask yourself, if this is not in anyway healthy for a plant and stunts its ability to grow and bring forth life. Why would humans even consider drinking Dr.Pepper or smoking?

Which is quite hypocritical of me.. seeing as i'm drinking a dr.pepper RIGHT NOW as I write this.

The great human mentality: Do what feels good now, worry about it later.

Dr. Pepper tastes good, and most people will continue drinking it untill they find out they need to watch their blood sugar, or intestinal lining or whatever has been messed up.

Smoking or drinking Dr. pepper is personal choice, same as taking drugs. Not everyone assumes that something is healthy if it dosen't directly harm them.

wait... why is dr pepper bad for you? (beside the obvious blood sugar/diabetes etc.)

We all could just eat vegetables and live at home and do nothing and stay as safe as possible, 'cause that's definitely the way to live longest. Yep, just sit there, do nothing, completely safe.

We do things we enjoy, even if it's technically detrimental to our health. I may not agree entirely on smoking, but why not enjoy life and do the things you love? (or drink the things you love, in the case of Coke).

Of course everything still requires a cost-benefit analysis- every action we do should be both analyzed in the case of how much better it makes our lives, and how detrimental it is to our health. I mean, I can have a can of Coke, sure it's "bad" for me, but I do enough exercise and whatnot that the cost for drinking it is nowhere near the benefit (good taste, the energy to finish my homework  ) I get from it :-w .

Why not make the process more interesting?

I don't see how getting a diesaese and breathing hard would be considered "intresting", but "painful" and "regretful".

Meh, I don't drink pop and I will never smoke in my life. As you said, I don't find drinking opaque, black liquids appetizing. And smoking is just disgusting for many obvious reasons.

And that has made all the difference.

As long as you don't drink too much of it, you are fine.

Smoking and Dr Pepper can't be compared with each other. Smoking is addictive, Dr Pepper isn't. Comparing Dr Pepper and smoking is like comparing aspirin with cocaine. Pointless :anxious:

Actually at 1 point in time, coca cola did put cocaine in their drinks, making people addictive to it.

Also, I believe caffiene has some addictive element too it as well.

Coca Cola put cocaine in their drink as a trademark. It put barely any, so I doubt you couldn't be addicted to it. I think it was about 1/10,000 or less.

Edit: changed caffine to cocaine.

------

Well DURR, Dr Pepper is acidic. Human stomachs can handle it but not plant roots.

And on the air one, well DURR. Do you think smokers are constantly exposed to smoke?

Yeah, that plant in water/drpepper idea is flawed. It's like formulating the following experiment and getting the following conclusion:

culture bacteria on plates- one with penicillin, one without.

The one with penecillin kills the bacteria, SO IT BE BAD 4 PPLZ!!!!!!!!! DUN TUCH IT!

*ahem* =)

Hah.

You do realise that putting a plant in a smoky room won't deprive it of air at all? Do you think there is no air in smoky bars? How do you think people survive more than 10 minutes in a smoky bar without dying from lack of oxygen?

There is almost as much air there as a smoke-free room. The difference in the amount of air is the mass of the smoke particles suspended in the air - which is negligible. Less than one cubic centimetre.

Smoke is just smoke particles suspended in, you guessed it, air.

Your experiment is a failure. You cannot compare the biology of a plant to a human. You may have better success by growing a mushroom for your experiment but I doubt it.

I think it may be any light but photosynthesis happens at a faster rate in blue due to it's higher frequency.

Why would we choose to do it? Well because smoking is relaxing and tastes nice.

Dr. Pepper i don't much like but if we go to drinking then again because it's relaxing and tastes nice.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Id rather push my eyesin than drink Dr Pepper or smoke tbh.

actually pusing my eyes in is actually really fun. yay pretty colours :D
