Tips on faking accents?

Featured Replies

The story: My Biology teacher is pregnant, and is leaving soon, on the day that we meet our subsitute (current teacher will be there to) we have a plan to have a good part of the class fake different accents, to mess with the sub. :D

So, any tips out there?

Any ideas for funny accents?

My current Ideas

British

Pirate

French

Australian

German

Italian

Irish

Scottish

No offense to anyone, but I make fun of the Australian accent all the time. My teacher yell at me for doing it though. Tell her you're a foreign exchange student or whatever, hah. :P

Get the sub with a nice, HEAVY accent. I'd say either indian or Northern-Englandish :P

The fun part is, everyone who's going to have these accents, will look nothing like the actual nationality. :XD:

You should speak nothing but Lithuanian, and then try very very very broken English. Tell her you're an exchange student from Lithuania who just came over a few days ago.

Viktor, the worst thing about that is, I sometimes say whole sentances in lithuanian during first period, and then I realize I wasn't speaking english.

"I av a tik-ET fa YURR."

Nigerian accents.

"Wat ah yoooo doin' dutty raggamuffin ah"

Or Ghanaian.

Damn, my friends do the best bush accents. Never fails to crack everyone up. Kinda difficult to even type out phonetically, the tones and that are vital for accuracy.

I love the idea, it's just too bad you're planning on having so many kids do such varying over the top accents that she'd obviously figure it out. I'd try to have only 3-5 kids involved and make sure those involved are great at their accents and wouldn't slip on em if you really want to trick the teacher.

with the irish add "m'laddy" as often as you can ::'

i use a new account now "knex2"

"Allo, is dees der bye-oh-lugy clahs?" I'm not sure what sort of accent this would be, but it (and wot-wot-old-bean type British) is what I'm best at. Make sure to say "me" instead of I, and be very gramatically incorrect, such as "Oh me sorry. Me hang up now goodbye."

Eastern European and Middle Eastern seem to scare some Subs... lol, and its also good to say a fake name, my class did that to a teacher and then when he talked to the rest of the teachers using our names they were like ???

Sweedish accents are fun to do

If she happens to ask if you speak English...

"Oh, they yes! I speak the English very goodly!"

or if she asks you any question...

"Vat?"

And when introducing yourself...

"I am the [NAME] of [RANDOM COUNTRY]. It is the great pleasurement to meet you."

And acting confused will confuse subs.

Talk like a pirate, definitely. How could you even consider anything else?

well im aussie so i can give you tips on faking my accent, basically just make sure all the lower vowels come out longer and lower then usually and talk really relaxed

With regard to British accents people always make the mistake of going too posh and talking in Received Pronunciation which just isnt the way people speak.

Homosexual accent. Funniest one in my opinion.

How do you define an accent then? By that you mean there's a particular "stereotypical" way in which gays decide to talk but its not an accent? :?
