I can also type "buying" or "selling" with my back to the keyboard \ They should make you play RS in elementary school to learn how to touchtype. 1/2 the world would be able to type like 80 words per minute. :mrgreen:

I would say yes, 40 wpm to 90 wpm and 100 wpm when I try really hard is a vast improvement as far as I'm concerned. :)

Runescape didn't help me with typing, but the internet itself did. I started on the net in 92 or 93 with AOL and Prodigy. Staying on those really helped me develope typing skills.

Yes, 5 years ago i could type English, but it was horrible, now it has improved so much, so yeah, rs has it good sides :P.

i typed 16 wpm b4 i played rs :oops: now i can type about 60 if i really try :mrgreen:

Heh, I remember a while ago realizing how fast I could type, and realized it had a great deal to do with runescape. It's also made me incredibly intolerant of bad spelling, grammar, and illogical statements :?

we have enough little kids ruining the game, dont need anymore.

Runescape is really the only reason that I can type as fast as I do. Without Runescape, I'd still be typing at about 25 words per minute. :-w

I can type my passwords in about a tenth of a second nowadays, but my typing speed in general hasn't improved all that much :| .

I was a slow typer, but now i can type anything along the lines of my username, password, buying, selling, anything rs related.

You shoulda seen me when I started... I was like speaking full grammer REAL slowly, but now I can do assignments faster that anone else :D

Well, I did have some 50-60 wpm-ish before I started playing. It improved somewhat.

I actually learned english from the RS and the related forums. Ofcourse I've had english class, but that's so fake. I learned grammer and translations in class, but I think that's equal to the amount I learned on the internet. But what internet it really thaught me is the linguistic feeling (sp?), because I actually used it here I can really speak and write english now, opposite to French and German. I wouldn't even know how to write this simple piece of text in those languages. It also really helped me on my vacations, I still go with my parents, but now I can at least communicate normal with foreigners!

This is indeed kinda off topic, so to answer your question: yes, it helped me type faster, but only in english though, I'm still terrible slow in Ducth (my first language)! :lol:

well, yea. I practice my typing a lot on runescape, but I'm trying to start using correct capitalization and better grammar on runescape. I learned how to type a year before I started RuneScape, so starting runescape wasn't that big of a deal towards typing.

Hasn't really helped my typing all that much. I tend to not use the apostophe in the game because I hit the enter key by accident too many times when I try. And since they were doing that thing where only the first letter of the sentence was capitalized I don't really use any capital letters in the game. I have to put in more effort to type properly now.

Yeah I guess it has at least kept my skills up if not improved them a little.

 

One word of adivce though. Don't try and I.M. and merchant at the same time. I accidently typed buying cow hides a few times to someone before noticeing.
