The point is, china is not true communism, it's not even close. It fails most of the characteristics of a communism, and there isn't a country in the world that is truly communistic, Cuba is the closest one, and it still a good way off.

OKIE thats good if its not Cuz i love <3: my motherland....(cant offend 1.3 billion people)

The reason true communism can not exist is quite simple. Simply put, dividing everything equally is not possible, as each person needs a different amount of something to survive. Lets take food for an example. While I need to eat 2 large meals a day (Lunch and dinner), my grandma needs to eat 3 medium meals a day, at the same time each day. How can we divide the food we both need equally then? We can't, and that is why communism can never fully work. The same goes for capitalism. No one country can be 100% capitalism or communism, and neither will ever be achieved.

For those that don't know, capitalism and communism are basic governmental opposites. While capitalism is total free trade, communism is civilian control of all the factors of production (land, labor, capital/goods, and enterprise).

I think that is enough of a lesson in government today, hay kids? :-k

Er, Communism is "each according to his need" so your Grandma ideally would get the 3 meals a day she needs. So thats not why it fails, and i don't see how that can also be attributed to capitalisms failure either, as capitalism never preaches equality in goods, only equality in oppurtunity.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

There is a 50% probability that two players (of either side) in any given football match have the same birthday.

With a couple dozen footballers and over 350 dates? Wow.

Yep its to do wityh the Birthday paradox which states that "given a group of 23 (or more) randomly chosen people, the probability is more than 50% that some pair of them will have the same birthday. For 57 or more people, the probability is greater than 99%, although it cannot be exactly 100% unless there are at least 367 people"

Wow, it's actually rather obvious if you look past basic probabilty assumption.

Communism fails because of human weaknesses. It would be impossible for everyone to share in an exact common ideal with no manipulation or corruption with our current morals.

It still wouldn't work because of the value that is placed on natural rights. After the supposed abolition of the law and the inevitable failure of the economy how do these natural rights become protected? If natural rights are not protected they are useless. Not to mention the fact natural rights are not innate, not agreed upon and not followed willingly by everyone. After that comes starvation, poverty, rioting, bloodshed, violence and the collapse of the state. The only possible way communism can work in a true form is in small sectors of land. Like african villages who have a shared goal and incentive to work to sustain their lives. Regionally, nationally or globally controlled communism will never work in this day and age. We'd first have to return to a state of nature and start the whole of civilization again. Communism is a pre-capitalist era of rule, unlike what Marx suggested it was (an anti-thesis to Capitalism). Marx was aiming for utopia and thats where his whole idea and logic unravels so easily.

Communism is purley just a method of return to the state of nature. It's reliance on innate natural rights is an excuse for the law to no longer be needed as Marx saw the law as an uneccessary evil.

Continuing with facism;

Unit 731 was a unit of the Japanese Army that performed human experimentation during the Sino-Japanese War and World War II.

What they did - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731#Activities

I've got the horrible film made about that; Men Behind the Sun. Said to be one of the most disturbing films ever. They have autopsy footage of a real boy in it, along with a cat being killed by hundreds of rats.

I read about it in the movies/television board but I haven't seen it either (nor do I want to if I'm being honest). Infact thats how I first came across the horrors of what they did. Hooray for tip.it expanding my knowledge for a change :D .

You know what I find hilarious?

If the world were ever to go into like, Nuclear Winter/New Stone Age mode, the new kings and leaders would be the crazy wilderness/survivalist nuts because they'd be the only damn people these days who would know how to actually fend for yourself. Everyone would have to bow down to them or they'd die.

You shall have your day, crazy wilderness man. You shall have your day.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

I dont know..I dont suppose this has been posted

Did you know post it notes were actually made by mistake

The Post-it note was invented in 1968, in a town called Deschamps, by Dr Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M in the United States who stumbled upon a glue that was not sticky enough. In 1974, a colleague of his, Arthur Fry, was singing in a church choir and frustrated that his bookmarks kept falling out of his hymnal. He applied some of Silver's glue to his markers. 3M launched the product in 1977 but it failed as consumers had not tried the product. A year later 3M swamped Boise, Idaho with samples. 90% of people who tried them said that they would buy the product. By 1980 the product was sold nationwide in the US and a year later they were launched in Canada and Europe. The only 3M plant that makes them is in Cynthiana,KY.[1] [2]

It probably will work in the future, once humans develop technology so advanced, that humans will no longer even be necessary for work, and just sit back and let the machines to do everything. It would be a pretty boring world though :-k

Some more random psych babble facts

Fathers interrupt their children more than mothers do (Greif, 1980)

Cultural taboos (Devito, 2001):

Eye contact is considered aggressive in many Asian and African countries, also gender taboos

Blinking your eyes is considered impolite in Taiwan

Folding your arms over your chest is considered disrespectful in Fiji

Putting your hands in your pockets is considered impolite in Malaysia

Waving your hand is insulting in Nigeria and Greece

Beckoning with palm facing up is considered disrespectful and rude in north and east Africa

Pointing (by an adult) is considered childlike and rude by an adult in many Middle Eastern, Asian and African countries

Pointing with index finger is considered impolite in many Middle Eastern countries, China and Indonesia

Bowing to a lesser degree than your host implies that you're superior in Japan

Using your left hand to eat or shake hands considered impolite in a wide variety of cultures, e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia North Africa and Arab countries.

Pointing at someone with your index and third fingers means you're wishing evil on the person in some African countries

Wearing shoes indoors is impolite and rude in many countries - infers that you think the house is not clean.

Some factors implicated in Obesity - For all those who think people suffering obesity have themselves to blame for lack of exercise or eating the wrong food groups.

Genetics account for on average 40% of the aetiology of obesity and up to 70%: Researchers have already isolated at least 200 genes likely to contribute to normal and abnormal weight (Yager, 2000).

Obese people have more fat cells and their cells are larger; fat cells never disappear, they only shrink.

Leptin (hormone) regulates body weight (set point) but it appears resistant in those who are obese and is not produced enough in those who can not put weight on.

If obese people stop the diet they conditioned themselves to, they will actually increase their weight.

Keith, Redden et al., 2006 explored scientific evidence for causes of obesity other than food and exercise which they claim have no scientific evidence as a causal factor (international journal of obesity)

Found evidence for at least 10 factors including:

Lack of sleep (produces endocrine changes)

Reduction in fluctuations of ambient temperature

Decreased smoking (nicotine thermogenic & appetite - smoking changes the cell structure, it's not the giving up of the smoking itself).

Pharmaceuticals including psychotropic & contraception

Intrauterine & intergenerational effects

Higher BMI related to reproductive fitness

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
