Recksash
Let's say you compliment a fellow scaper. They say, "ty" (or thank you, or thanks, but they show gratitude verbally some way), is it appropriate to answer, "no problem"? I've wondered about this for a while and decided to ask the tip.it community :D So tell me what you think. And sorry if this is the wrong thread :( edit1 Lol, it seems that no one really cares either way  Yes It Is Ok --------- -Skully_Sc -sanno7 -Ryuuka No It's Not Ok -------------- -Behind_you0 -RabidChipmunk -Nick_6464 -evil_eye_70 -[bleep]egamer Doesn't Matter ------------------ -infam0us911 -Darkpoop0 -rareghoul1 -Itsjustagame -armadillo48 -no_way2go -oreocookie987 -darkblob0 Politics,n. Behind_you0
I feel deceived when I'm doing a fair trade, and I thank the other one and he says NP. Like he's doing me a favour. So it's NOT ok. RabidChipmunk
If you really, really, really want to disect and look deep into the heart of this "matter", I believe it's rude to say "np" unless you either ripped yourself off intentionally or gave somone something or did something for free. Giordano
I get what I mean, and hate it. It's like you were forced to say the compliment. Here's a example: A: Woot 99 fishing! B: Congratz A: Thanks B: Np The 'Np' was unessacary, it makes damn sense for it to be there. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." rareghoul1
does it really matter? seriously if you're bugged by that then everything else in runescape must bug you. when i trade, i usually say "ty" at the same time as the other person. well... i suppose we all have our pet peaves but this is getting ridiculous... :-s did this really deserve a topic? with all these l33t speakers and those kids going around cursing at everyone for no reason... why one time i was buying 800 crumble undead runes from a friend, and this kid comes up for no reason and drops the f-bomb at us. i doubt if you had that happen to you you would actually care about people saying "np"

Skully
To be honest, nothing should be in general... we put in in General P2P because we are members.. General is so stupid and full of F2P-ers. -.- Sorry, just thought i'd share my frustration. I feel deceived when I'm doing a fair trade, and I thank the other one and he says NP. Like he's doing me a favour. So it's NOT ok. He is doing you a favour by buying what you were selling, or selling what you wanted, it is helping you, so therefore it is a favour. Without him, you wouldn't have that item(s).

SanNo1
it depends on the occasion. in your example with a compliment it is apropriate to say no problem IMO. but not after a normal trade. There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth.
anonymouse_
It's polite, but not really necessary in this case.

Ryuuka
these thread are what is called "post count powerups" they are only made to get the thread makers post count or and/or the person want to make some kind of thread and can't make an appropriate topic. on topic, yes you are 110% allowed to say "no problem" you are after all helping a person. spikegamer
I say a mix of no problem to your welcome. SO would saying your welcome also be inappropriate? The way I see it the person saying thank you is acting like the trade was a favor so it would be appropriate to acknowledge their politeness with a "np" or "yw"

Arambul
Honestly, it's just a response most people use when someone else says "Ty." It's not like they're being rude and saying it for the sole purpose to try to hurt your feelings in some kind of way. And anyways, who cares about this random topic? rareghoul1
you should make a don't care list, that will actually have people on it :XD: anyway this thread is dead to me now. (sorry, had to say that, an old funny quote.)
