The perfect job?

Do you think its possible to get a job that is perfect for you? By that I mean that you don't dread going to work and are clock watching when you get there. You have enough to do without being bored with repetitive work that you loathe.

I think I might have my perfect job. I managed to get a job a few weeks ago at my local opticians. After one week of work experience, I was offered a Saturday job there. My boss is great. I worked for one Saturday - he let me off one hour early - and was on holiday the next Saturday. When I returned the Saturday after my holiday, I was paid for the day I worked and the day I didn't work! A week later, I was given a 50% pay rise to ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3.75 an hour. (I was working for below minimum wage previously, but being able to say I worked at an opticians on my university application was worth selling myself short) Every second week, I am allowed to go home an hour early because it's not very busy and all my paperwork is finished. The other weeks I'm cutting, marking up and framing lenses and repairing glasses.

Yesterday, I cycled up and asked if there was any work available over the summer holidays and was told that I could work for a week for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã130. My boss doesn't mind if I'm a wee bit late and if its not very busy, I get 90 minutes for lunch. I'm really pleased with this job and I know that it's only a Saturday job but I'm very happy at my work and this makes me happier working towards my grades for university.

I was wondering if anyone else has their perfect job and if you believe that such a thing exists.

I believe it's possible, I guess if you're self employed doing something you enjoy doing.

Self-employed councillor, that would be very rewarding and you'd be self-employed working the hours you can fit around.

As long as its something you love, it can be perfect. My dream job is to be a teacher. I view it as such a critical position in today's society, therefore it is my dream to fulfill a very important job such as teaching.

The Perfect Job for Nerds:

Watching meters at ethanol plants. I mean serious, you get payed 18.50 per hour for sitting on your butt watching meters. How cool is that?

That in dollars? Cus if it is then that's pretty crap.

I got a very good job for a teenager.

I work at a photo/video editing company (versus most other teens that work at fast food), my job is simply scanning photos, and slides. Gets a bit repetitive but it's ok. Here are the good parts: I get paid $8 hour (good), i work in a nice cool office, on 2 computers at once, I can leave and come whenever i want (as long as I get work done), I get free lunch, I can skip whenever i want, and it's an uber friendly environment. I also can do whatever I want while waiting for the scanning to finish, such as read tipit...Hey I'm doing that right now!

Beeing a professional Photographer.

Seriously, your boss sends you to the greatest places on earth, Africa, Asia, South Pole, everything. And you have to go there (ofcourse your boss pays the costs) and you make photos with your expensive equipment. And after 2 weeks, you go back home with great photos and your payment.

I dont think it works out that way in most cases, but that would be my perfect job. :)

Honestly I feel like being the host of Extreme Makeover House Edition has to be the best job out there right now. You help people, your semi-famous (not too famous), and you make a lot of money, and its easy.

I just want a well paying job that has some obstacles and is exiciting, thus makes the day pass by fast.

I think its a bit sad most of you just want to play rs :anxious: .

It'd be cool to be a self-employed video game designer; you get to make games, sell them, make money, work for yourself. In reality, though, you end up not making much unless you work for a big-buck game company like Blizzard, and wasting away on your nerdy butt at home staying up till 2 Am to tweak some Python code you'll never manage to sell anyway. Call me a cynic.

I think I may go into amateur aerospace. Lots of new opportunities in that field. It's one of those emerging things, private space flight/space tourism, and I'm good at the skills it involves (Engineering, Design, Mechanics, Math, Geometry, etc). Plus I've always wanted to go to space.

Of course, there's quite a future for the innovator in the field of alternate energy, and you're helping the environment.
