August 2, 200718 yr Guys, stop showing off your calculators. This kid is going to MIDDLE SCHOOL. 1. He does not need a ti-89. 2. He will [bleep] it up by the end of 3 years. 3. He said hes staying scientific, not graphing. When i went to middle school, i went to staples and bought the scientific calculator with the most buttons. Casio is good. But you should NEVER exceed $20 on a calculator for middle school
August 2, 200718 yr Impretty sure u barely need a complicated calculator until like grade 8... In grade 6 i used my head the whole year, it wasnt to hard... --Quit--(As of December 22th, 2007)

August 2, 200718 yr A calculator isn't an alternative to basic Mental Maths. However, if you insist on a calculator, then I'd just get a scientific one. I dunno what age bracket "middle-School" is, but you can use it later on, so it saves money. :P | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
August 2, 200718 yr Err, I was in advanced math and the school provided all of our calculators, and our school districts pretty poor, actually .. Really good calculators, too. I think the T-19 or whatever a couple posts up? me and kashi are running for president in '08.
August 2, 200718 yr TI-89 I'm pretty sure that's what it's called. EDIT: a calculator pulled out of my backpack was enough to score a whole math semester... :| you should use basic ones for your early years and the scientific ones for your late years.
August 2, 200718 yr Dude..it's a calculator. If you put in 2+2 and you get 4 it's good enough. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
August 2, 200718 yr yeah..who really cares about what type of calculator you have :P btw i have a casio fx-83MS....whatever that means :P Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements
August 2, 200718 yr The most advance function you might learn in middle school is square rooting (maybe squaring at the most). Just get a normal scientific calculator, and if you keep it in good condition, you can keep it for high school. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! August 2, 200718 yr All you need for middle school is a calculator that can do sines, cosines and tangents, (technically that's all you need, because those are the only things that you can't do yourself). A bracket feature is very useful, provided you know how to use it, but not necessary. EDIT: square roots too #-o , but you don't deal with very difficult ones, just things like square root of 9. August 2, 200718 yr Was I the only one that noticed he is most likely underage to be on forums or runescape? Anyways if you have failed numerous times which I would not doubt from your typing, I would recommend a standard calculator, and anything with a spell checker. August 2, 200718 yr Did you really have to make a new thread instead of just editing your old one? And I use a 30xa, it worked like a charm. Until I lost it -.- . I got a new one, forgot the model. I reccomend going with whatever your teachers tell you to use. Otherwise, when learning new operations on calculators, you might have trouble trying to figure out how to do it on your own calculator. We were learning radical expressions this year (im in seventh grade so it seems pretty late to be learning, but hey were in private school.). Took me 10 minutes to figure out to press the radical button first then the number, while on 30xa you put the number in first. When it comes to math class, don't be a rebel :D [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Why the hell are you in a rush? What, is the cookie monster going to reap your immortal soul if you don't finish each post in 5 seconds? Aaaannnnyyyywaayyys... I'd get a TI-83 if I were you. It has multiple lines, so it's easier to see the whole equation, it has lots of useful functions, doesn't cost as much as a car (like some calculators... how much is the Ti-89 again o_O? $400?), and you're definitely going to use it in high school. Plus, it's the most durable thing I've ever seen. I've literally dropped it from the second story in middle school (accidentally, mind you), and, 5 years later, it still works perfectly :XD: . You can shoot an bullet through it and it'll still work. It's crazy. So, TI-83 is my reccommendation. August 2, 200718 yr Trust me, the TI-30XA is going to be FINE for middle school. I used that calculator for part of middle school and it more than served its purpose. (infact there's one in my desk drawer) It's not until high school that you need to start using a graphing calculator. (I use a Ti-84 Plus) However, if you want people to think you're cool because you have a pimped out calculator, get the TI-30X IIS. It's only $5 more than the Ti-30XA and it has arrows which you can use for scrolling between entered equations. It also has a 2 line display and a solar panel. http://education.ti.com/educationportal ... x_iis.html
August 2, 200718 yr [bleep] lol. Are you serious? Just buy the calculator they advice, I can guarantee if you buy a TI 89 or w/e people are saying here you will have a reputation from day 1. Enjoy your holiday, and don't worry about calculators. :
August 2, 200718 yr Isn't there already a topic about you going to middle school? You could have posted this in that topic instead of filling up the board with every minor issue regarding you going to middle school.
