jcfc
Pixel-hogging. One of those insults that insult your real life too. But ever since my day alching today, I've become really confused about what it REALLY is. First, let me tell you my story. I was alching at barrows (as you do :P) and someone else was with me in what happened to be dharoks crypt. Now, while we were alching, a level 124 turned up, and clicked on the crypt. It seemed, however, that he was confident, as he hadn't put prayer on. However, he got hit a couple of high-hits, and was dead. I looted what I could (karil top, 800 deaths, 360 nats) while the other guy got the rest (the rest of karils, 2.8k minds, super restores, glory, dds). However, because this guys name was a misspelling, I didn't catch it to give back. Chatting to another barrower, I found that they were a friend of the guy that died. Admittedly, it start with "at least most people have more sense... some guy just died by not praying vs dharok". Then he said "Do you mean [PLAYER]?" I replied, "Yes". He told me that he was his friend, and he had just logged off because he was a bit peeved (as i'm sure you would be) as it was lagged that caused his death. So, I waited in his friends clan chat waiting for him to come on. Simple at the moment, right? Well here is where it gets confusing. The other guy that had looted came back (he went to bank) and I told him that I knew the guy that died. I asked him whether he would give back. He told me, rather bluntly, no. I asked him why. It was along the lines of: He says: He died, I got the loot, its mine now. Me: But he lagged out... Him: Oh well, I still got it. Me: But surely thats pixel hogging? Him: Well, no, surely he is pixel hogging as he wants his stuff back. Me: But think of how hard hes worked for that money... thik about how you got your 15mil. Him: Oh yeah, sitting on your backside is a lot of work. Anyway, I looted 10m of it. I stood there, not sure how to reply. Who really was the pixelhogger? Heck, is there such thing as pixelhogging? Why do people pixelhog, if at all? What would you do if you were in this situation? Discuss. PS, I gave him his stuff back. Would you? x_bow80
If some one dies isnt it their fault? It dosent matter if their lagging, they should have got a better internet connetion before they went and played. Rainy_Day
I don't really know the meaning of it, but I've seen it thrown around some times. Granted it's their fault that they died (No matter what) - but I'd still give them back. I'd feel bad if I didn't and kept it. :P ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)RIP Michaelangelopolous
Misaka_WORST
As soon items hit the ground, they are owned by the person who picks it up, if he dies its his fault, you don't have to give back his items. Unless he's a friend, but thats a different story.
0ne_time
He didn't give a friend his stuff back? It seems to me that HE is the pixel hog :x. I know most people say they would give all the stuff back, but would they? I wouldn't. I would give about three-fourths of it back, not because I'm trying to hog pixels, but because it's his fault he died. And it teaches him a lesson :D. But anyways, good decision on giving all the stuff back. My respect for you there. Platinum_Myr
I don't think it's necessary to give back stuff when people die, but I don't mind people asking. If I think they are "demanding" that I do, I probably wont, where as if I think they are being nice about it, and stuff I probably will. I've made some good friends by giving people there stuff back, and I've seen people lose friendships because they didn't. splatmster24
sorry, i would have kept it. i am not the kind of person to give that much money back to. Say what you mean and mean what you say because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.
tewas
Well i would add that person in my friend list to see if i can reach him. If no then sorry, i will keep loot. Also it depends from person how he acts with me. Anyone demanding their stuff will be ignored, but nice people will get it back. Dharockslayer
I would keep it. Like I would keep my guthix cloak looted off of someone dying in marim dungeun. He was being a usual rs player saying that my outfit was weak, and that I could better use (insert expensive item here). So from the start I didnt like him. Well he turned back to human from his monkey state ( litterally, he had a talisman ). And forgot to put on his prayer. I quickly looted the cape and some prayer pots. So whoever you are again, thanks for the guthix cloak, it really helped me getting 94 ranged and probably onward to 99  Interrested in joining the cabbagy madness? Moonshadow
Well, it would really depend if the person was nice and likable. If they were just plain rude to me, I would just take the stuff and I would have a nice present that day. If they were nice, I would give everything back. highlanders
Ok so what your asking is; is the person who lost the items and want them back is the pixel hugger, or is it the person who looted the items? Hmm.. The person who kept the items instead of giving it back values the pixel money over the person, that's pixel hugging. The person who wants his items back, even though he made an error and died fully aware of the dangers of barrows, and has no right to expect that people give him his items back, well, I would call that attachment to what once was his own, but not pixel hugging since pixel hugging is valueing money over players in my book. 2480+ total

Stilev
rofl this is so randoum you dont have to give his stuff back like the guy said, it was his fault, you die you die, no reason to give it back of course like you, if you wanna be a nice guy you can give it back just kuz you want people to do that to you. personally i'll just give like half the stuff back pixelhugging = your a jackass with no life so you made up a word to tick me off, calling him one, or him calling you one, it applys to you both that also goes with "its just pixels" "prayer noob" "str noob" etc
fat_klutz
If everybody gave stuff back this game would be stupider than it already is. You could go to barrows with crappy food and take the chance that you will die but why does it matter. You just get it back. I would have kept it. I don't care if you lag out, I've lagged out and I'm not crying... Made0f12une
I said pixel hogging is when someone is quitting runescape, sells everything, buys as many rares as they can and either A. Gets banned or B. never plays ever again. Why would you take those rares from other people like that? It's just stupid. ^^ClicK^^"I backed my car into a cop car the other dayWell he just drove off sometimes life's ok...Alright already we'll all float onAlright don't worry we'll all float on" - Isaac BrockDays Hunting:4 - Kingly Imps Caught:2Money Earned: 4.5-5m
robgrout
it depends on what the items were and what the person was like - if there nice then ill give back most things (if they drop a whip or guth spear or dfireshild its mine muahha - unless i know them) or if they were rude id keep but if it was mostly cheap but anyoing stuff to get then i would give it back as i hope most people would for me if i die dhing 1day (with item prayer on)
Icingdeath
I would have given his stuff back if I could find him. It's a good opportunity to make a new friend. :) I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.

Smapla
You can not hog pixels. You can not hog 'meters'. Pixels are not a physical thing. They are a unit of measure.
berbatovsky
Half the responses display a lack of empathy, i'm almost certain i'd give all the stuff back if someone i'd been talking to died through lag or bad luck or even stupidity. I actually got a nice death pile at the animated armour place in the ...fighters guild(?) in taverly, but i didnt talk to the guy or remember his name. qeltar
It's not about pixels. It's about time and effort. That said, usually the people who use stupid insults like "pixel hugger" are the ones who are most guilty of obsessing over RS items and money themselves. ~q Qeltar, aka Charles KozierokWebmaster, RuneScoop - Premium RuneScape Information for Expert Players -- Now Free!Featuring the Ultimate Guide to Dungeoneering -- everything you need to know to get the most of the new skill!
