How would your heaven/paradise look like?

great topic...part of would like my heaven to be like nothing on earth...an etheral space which fills you with a euproric feeling. Another part of me wants a replication of the most beautiful nature areas of earth. I must say I never felt more close to God (or whatever your version of a higher beings is...if you have one) than out in nature well away from the "rat race".

However, with both these ideas, I tend to think that I would get bored (I mean this is for eternity afterall!). Could it really be heaven without the things on earth which I love? Therefore, my family, pets, favorite sports, computer, truck, DVD collection, and so on and so forth would need to be there. So, I guess what i really want is a heaven that contains all the positive things I have and experience here on earth, without all the things that piss me off. In addition, freedom to do as I please would definitely be an important part (if I wanted to play on my computer for 40,000 years without stopping, that would be my prerogative).

How I'd like it to be?

Somehow, non-repetitive, yet eternal...

as of right now i think my paradise would be a futuristic world, but still has many of modern day problems. if you've ever seen ghost in the shell, maybe a world similar to that.

I have. Love it. Both parts. Cyberpunk ftw =)

God, a world with that many ethical dilemmas? No thanks.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

My paradise would probably just be an ultimate darkness within which I can rest.

Im athiest so I would say that my "paradise" would have the fountain of youth, and I can't think of anything else(if you drink from the fountain of youth you become immortal and never aging), and the world is turned into the world of Bleach and Harry Potter combined.(I don't like harry potter but doing magic would be awsome) Oh, for anyone who doesn't know if you die then you go to the soul society as a soul(duh) and if you die there you are reincarnated as a new person(without your memories) It's sort of the "circle of life" thing.

When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!"

Nope, live in the Midwest of the US, I get plenty of rain. Something about an overcast and stormy weather just puts a smile on my face :) .

Maybe the dubbed version hasn't really portrayed this as well as the rest of the series (currently at 136 episodes I believe if you watch subbed), but the Soul Society kind of sucks. It's basically a terrible, quickly formed government based on Soul Reapers/Shinigami having the power (limited power, mind you. Few are actually any good at maintaining order in the spiritual world, or at least only a handful actually have the power for that) and everyone else living in ghettos and slums. Soul Reapers live mindless lives exorcising people&hollows and running around doing nothing, while the rest of the spirits just suffer.

Basically, if you read into the story (or at least somewhat between the lines) you can see that the "Soul Society" is either completely illogical (it is at least somewhat, with people being born there after all), or a pathetic example of a possible afterlife. Seriously, the guy who rules the place is only like a thousand years old, and he made the Soul Society and the method of forming zanpaku-to's (which shows that it was formed long after the human race came into being, that, or there are some wrong time references in the manga/anime). If the Soul Society is the pinnacle of life in the afterlife, let's hope it isn't real :uhh: .

[/100th anime tangent this week]

Also, how the heck can you fuse that with Harry Potter o_O?

I'd honestly say I do not know what my paradise would be. To tell the truth, if I can help people, I don't care where it is. The big problem for me is that I really don't have the means or physical strength to help anyone really. If I can gain access to a place where I can train and compete (friendly competition) with other people and use helping people on the physical world as a "day job", I'd be completely fine with that.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

I'm going to have to disagree with people that would like a continual party or a peaceful forest. I'd get tired of both very quickly. This is eternity we're talking about, after all. With that said, I'd rather eternity be some sort of sleep, except blessed by God somehow...

Then again this is paradise. So you might be in a state of mind, where things just don't get boring.

woot - arcades everywhere, no pain, no death, no illnesses - unless you want them - no school - already knowing things ftw, and erm - thousands of pretty and hot and smart girls, good cars, war without pain or death whenever i want - respawning like castlewars ftw.

yep the perfect paradise.

but after death the heaven/paradise is probably just a figament of images that was in the brain when it worked in my opinion.

A cloudy day with light snow, and a never ending mountain to snowboard. Mmm. :D
