German and Deutsch worlds, pointless?

Featured Replies

I tried logging onto a German/Deutsch world today, and all I found was pures. Pures killing monsters in areas that are usually very crowded in english worlds. I searched around, and still only found pures and people doing the same. I asked about everyone I saw if they actually spoke German or Deustch, and they all said no.

I feel sorry for Jagex, they worked so hard changing everything on RS to German and Deutsch, and most of the players that are on the servers can't even speak/read it.

What do you think?

:S

jordangmsunset.jpg

They are there with good purpose, people that don't speak english deserve to have their own server. Good job there Jagex.

However your discovery is, unforutantly, true. The servers are used as training spots, and it is sad. Maybe if the people that spoke the respective languages went on the servers, making them crowded, the people training there would go back the the server they belong in..

If you jump into a river in Paris, you're insane. If you jump into a river in Egypt, you're in denial.

German and Deustch are the same thing. :?

It should of been pretty obvious to think that this would of happened before they put all the work into it, so I'm sure they'd knew it would happen. No sympathy there.

I believe they should not have been created in the first place. I mean, if Germans are given a world of their own, they are not as willing to mix with the rest of the runescape community. These worlds are just creating more divisions between players.

2.1 - English is the only language used on Tip.It Forums

We understand that English is not everyone̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s native tongue. All we are saying is that if you post something in another language besides English, you must also post an English translation of it. It doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have to be perfect, as long as you try to get it as close as you can.

And you just advanced 1 post count (via spam, the PC of forum posts)

I actually find they use English worlds more often nowadays.

See people speaking diferent languages on like Australian worlds etc..

Doomy edit: I like sheep

There not pointless seeing as how places are way less crowded there, they just arent used for their intended purpose.

People who speak german that like to pk or stake or something that involves a crowded world or themed world to play on cant go there because theres what 300-500 people usually in that world? Even if not all of the people in that world speak german then at least the servers go to some use.

Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.

I go to the german worlds for less crowded places...but i can actually speak german

Its not being used for what its supposed to be used for.. :s

In the future, more worlds will be added supporting the varying languages, at the point the people may start to diversify into the different worlds. Its seems like a pure training spot (I train wc there btw :P) for now but think in the long run, 20+ of these servers open up and there will still be an increasing amount of English servers popping up. This means that people who speak these languages will have an easier time learning RS, even if they dont stay on these worlds all the time.

I think it's a really good idea having different language versions of the game. It will attract players that maybe wouldn't have joined because their english isnt perfect, and the fact that a lot of english play on these worlds means the foreign players can pick up bits of english while still being in a predominantly german language environment.

Also, i like the german worlds for brushing up on my own rusty german. Spending half an hour on there trying to think and speak in german makes a lot of it come back.

I would say however, i'm surprised they chose german for the first language server. In my experience there's far far more dutch speakers playing, but maybe that's something they're still working on.

Did it ever occur to anyone yet, that alot of people live NEARBY Germany, making them more liable to play a german server, since the bandwidth would be more reliable ?

So sure, they can't speak german, but they have just as much right to play on it as a german does IMO. -.-

I like it. I speak quite a bit of German, and I find German players on there too. I think the quiet servers are starting too attract people, but if you don't speak German you shouldn't go on there really, it's too easy to be scammed or random events can get you (especially the sandwich lady)

Yes it is, but you can't blaim him for trying.

Most likely half the viewers will mistake it for Dutch anyway, and pronounce "deutsch" as "dee-ootsch", lol.

You got it. Lots of people, all with different languages play this game. Though the in-game text is in English, people still talk to their friends in their native languages. Though it is indeed a noble move by Jagex to bring their game to other people, it separates the players. It's almost segregation, even. =;

You don't know what segregation is obviously, so don't even call it that.

Its pure and common sense, that the high amount of "other nationality" players deserve national servers, to lower bandwidth and strain on servers and on the players personal computer and connection.

I have to say i noticed the same thing, pures etc, when i went to visit the german worlds out of interest. Do they advertise Runescape on any other medium than the internet?

Maybe it isn't well known as it isn't well advertised in Germany, example: we have miniclip, which like it ir not, brought lots of new players to english. Maybe there is a german miniclip equivalent that could attract newplayers, i dont know, just a thought. :-k

It isn't in the castle, It isn't in the mist, It's a calling of the waters, As they break to show, The new Black Death, With reactors aglow, Do you think your security, Can keep you in purity, You will not shake us off above or below

My German friends dont use the German worlds on the basis alot of the translations are wrong...

Sig.jpg

Tbh I was quite surprised Jagex released German worlds. I think there are far more Dutch players. If you enter w53/w54 (Dutch worlds) it's Dutch which is the first language there. I've not witnessed the same on other servers with German people.

German people just have to learn decent English :? They're just like the French in that way. German voice overs on English movies is a good example.

Yes, when I was hunting red chincompas, nobody in the German worlds spoke German. But I think it was a good idea, as there are a lot of German Players on those worlds too.

Yes Runescape was advertised in USA Today and The New York Times a few months ago.

I dont speak german very well but I can understand it, so sometimes I play on the German worlds just to get away from the pures and their "ub3r 1337 m41nZ" but it seems like the pures have found my secret quit spot. :(

Damn Pures!
