Have the autoer/gold farmer bannings helped or hurt you?

Featured Replies

Recently, Jagex has really been stepping up the bannings of autoers and goldfarmers. Obviously this makes life happier for yewers. Players are generally happy to hear about these bannings, but do you feel that they've economically impacted you in a negative way? With prices of yews through the roof for quite awhile, fletching has become less profitable, and alchemy much more expensive. While the small group of people in rs who kill dragons for cash are a good deal richer now, people training crafting and prayer find themselves out millions.

I haven't noticed a substantial increase in pure essence or flax prices, which suggests that Jagex hasn't gotten around to that yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Further to that, while I think it's wonderful that people can't go on eBay and buy themselves a santa, but does anyone find themselves pitying the people who work in sweatshops in China playing a game they probably don't like for 14 hours a day for below minimum wages, who find themselves out of work?

Obviously, the companies are at fault for creating an industry around something that Jagex has stated is illegal, and there really is no other choice, but do you ever find yourself wondering if gold farmers really don't hurt the game that much?

helped, cant say why i would have gotten 99 cooking without them.

I rose several hundred ranks in several skills so helped, who cares if prices rise, thats also a good thing.

Well imagine if there was no autoers and the yews would be 400+ . It's something we must deal with as a community. All we have to do is make those uber rich people get off their [cabbage] and cut yews/pick flax/and mine ess. Becuase it's good for you too XP+fr33 material=a happy player :)

its going to be a while.

there are still resources in circulation that the farmers accumulated

I guess it would help, if I actually sold stuff! I tend to use most of the resources I gather, rather than sell for profit.

They helped me get 99 cooking from lobsters and fletching from 70-88.

How would yews be 400 ea if yew+bowstring+nat ->768 gp (or even 900 gp) There is automatic self-regulation in this sort of economy.

OT: I've been hurt by it, since I had to run 2k oaks to planks myself due to a lack of plank-making bots these past 2 days. Also, I am planning on buying several other skills shortly.

Hurt me, I've been noticing that buying bowstrings at 180each is almost impossible now...

heh :-k

Might just be my luck..

Doomy edit: I like sheep

they have probably helped me. when i fletched, cheaper yews and cheaper flax, when i rc, cheaper ess, the list goes on. i wonder if jagex pays more attention to the bots that dont pay versus those who do. like the pure ess miners and flax pickers vs. yew cutters (in f2p) and normal ess miners, just to name a few.

its good and bad

bad that the prices are down

but good for skillers who can now mine/woodcut/pick flax without being bothered

Ditto; all the gp I have came from alching things I made from resources I gathered myself. Anytime I do buy material, it's always from either a general store or a specialty store. That's mostly because it's cheaper and (usually) faster to buy from stores.

Gorak Chronicles Ended, thinking of something new for next week

Hurt.

I buy all my raw materials, and raising prices make me not able to afford things.

For example, I can no longer get 99 prayer or 126 combat cause d bone prices almost doubled. #-o

I get all my materials by myself, i sell yews, it is definitly a good thing for me. I even mine all of my own ess, only 47 rcing on my other account, so might change.(and 35 on this one lol) If you cheat, you deserve to get banned. End of story. I think most of the macroing problem would be solved if people took the time to get most of their own materials.

Heh. I don't care for them, even if they do make the prices drop. I'm not a rich player, so don't bug me about that. BUT... I do work hard for my money, even if it is just pixels. They don't deserve to relax while I sit here like a fool every day, earning my money 20x slower then they do.

Gathering skills are now useful.

The easy buyables are becomming harder.

So, what is 1.111... equal to?

10/9.

Please don't continue.

I hope that oak planks price skyrockets :|. Then i can brag more with my 99 construction. Same with gold ores.

Finally, item gathering skills will actually start making good money, exactly what they were meant for before the autoers came.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

This 'mass ban' or 'bot wipe out' is quite helpful. It makes players gather raw materials themselves instead of buying them. Rich people now find themselves in quite a sticky situation since they're so used to buying things for 99 fletch, 99 cooking...

drapit.png

The mass ban has helped me on my current occupation, but i think it will cost me money later on, when the material prices go up. But i think its a small price to pay for getting the macroers out of the game.

the game would be better without them

Hey Nicrune007 , Whats Your Username?

99 Ranged on 2/6/07 99 Hit Points on 9/5/08 99 Defense on 26/4/08 99 Attack on 14/2/09 99 Strength on 25/2/09 99 Slayer on 13/9/09\:D/

I suppose it hurt me, as I was planning on alching yew longs for some magic exp. I'll just have to buy raw materials and work around it though. It could be a lot worse..
