Futurama
Since my teenage years I have always had some trouble getting up in the mornings, as teenagers do. Over the summer I began working part time on some evenings and weekends, and now that i'm back at college, it's hard to keep up with a 15 hour day which is mostly occuiped by one form of work or another. And so, i've started taking Pro Plus to help keep myself awake. It's working fine, they're 50mg caffeine tablets, I take 2 when I feel I need them. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any bad side effects or anything I should stray away from? I also don't wanna become dependant on caffeine, lol... thx! Tbfgraphx14
One thing is that by the time lunch comes around, you are very hungry, more than usual. Also a cup of coffee (usally in the morning) gives me craps :uhh: Tbfgraphx14Happy to find I'm not the only one who eats glass.
pryomancer
I wouldn't depend on them to keep you alert for long periods. They're fine occasionally, but try changing your diet to provide you with extra vitamins etc, that's more healthy and practical.

Necromagus
Prolonged exposure to a powerful stimulant like caffeine can have some pretty bad effects, like caffeine-induced sleep disorder and caffeine-induced anxiety disorder. It's also believed that as many about one in ten people suffer from mild caffeine addiction. Still, caffeinism isn't something to worry about too much compared to most addictions. Darksavior69
While not related to the effects of caffeine, it sounds like you may just not be getting enough sleep. What kind of sleep schedule are you on? Nom
One of my friends did an entire presentation on caffiene and its effects. He showed a picture comparison of a normal spider web, and one made by a spider dosed with caffiene. The caffiene was was all screwy, it was pretty funny. But that was a spider. I don't know what the specific effects of too much caffiene are on humans (I barely rmember the presentation.)
IGoddessI
Caffeine is the world's most popular drug/mood enhancer and yes you can become addicted and have withdrawal symptoms. Make no mistakes though Coffee isn't the only culprit, there is tea and also over 70% of America's soft drinks consumed contain caffeine (Bayview Medical Centre, 2003). Caffeine dependence is an ICD-10 diagnosis and can be tested matching criteria found on the DSM-IV. Withdrawal can include symptoms such as, headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, flu-like symptoms, and sleepiness. For energy through-out the day I like to take Double X from Nutriway, a multivitamin, multimineral concentrate supplement without the withdrawal effects. They make me alert, wide awake, get me through the day without having to nanny nap and have excellent concentration. The DOUBLE X Supplement provides 12 essential vitamins (Vitamin A, C, E, B1, B2, Niacin, B6, B12, D3, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, & Folic Acid), Vitamin C provides relief of the symptoms of cold flu and hay fever. Vitamin B6, B12 & folic acid helps to support your healthy heart by helping to maintain healthy blood cholesterol level. Also when taken one month before conception and during pregnancy, folic acid may help to reduce the risk of women having a child with neural tube defects. It also provides 8 minerals including calcium & magnesium, which are both involved in muscle activity, nerve activity & bone metabolism. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant. I highly recommend them  The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. wakka102
caffiene does nothing to me, I drank 2 monsters and a cocaine (an energy drink that was only out for a short while in my state is is equal to about 3 redbulls) and then wet to sleep. It's really not that good for you but I like the taste of them and it gives me just enough so that I can drive to school without falling asleep at the wheel. warri0r45
I probably consume an average to slightly above average dose of caffeine. Nothing too adverse to report yet but it'll probably catch up with me in my later years.
highlanders
Cafeine causes dehydration, and most people are already chronically dehydrated, so it's not really smart to take some on purpose. Apart from that, it causes a little "up" in energy, which is followed by a little "down" in energy, negating the effect and rendering it useless. Also, when dinking coffee and drinks that contain caffeine very often, after several weeks, the "up"s become shorter and the "down"s become longer, so its not a good idea to drink it regularly for that reason. And that's pretty much it. Now you know what it does. If you still insist on taking cafeine, make sure to drink around 6-8 glasses of water everyday, to prevent further dehydration. 2480+ total
Randox
The one thing I do know it does is leech teh calcium out of your bones. I actualy knpow someone who broke his foot walking upa lfight of stairs. His bones were incredibly weak because all the calcium had been removed by prolonged exposure to caffine over many years. The guy owned a coffee shop, and drank all the extra every day. Maby 2 red bulls worht of caffiene OR LESS. Over a few years of doing that, bones started giving out. It also puts your heart under additional stress, your heart only has so many beats in it (within a range naturaly), why make it reach that sooner by making go fast all the time? (note that exercise is differrent, it makes your heart stronger to make up for beating faster during exercise, it allows it to real slow during breaks too. Marathons are different though, a marathon is a good way to have a heart attack). My 2 cents worth. Oh and about coffee, it tastes like [cabbage], anyone who says otehrwise has been drinking way to much because its not even an easily aqireed taste. For me the taste make me violently ill, last time I trried I hit the ground retching. Barium (for certain x-rays) is preferable to me, though that stuff that cleans out the bowels is a different story :ohnoes: (4 1/2 hours to drink 2 litres, and I was about ready to beg someone to eather pump my stomach and pressure wash my mouth, or shoot me and get it over with). Then you get to sit on the can all night (I never slept on a toilet before).
Darksavior69
Marathons are different though, a marathon is a good way to have a heart attack). Not to derail the topic, but I think Sir Randulph Fiennes would disagree. :P Oh and about coffee, it tastes like [cabbage], anyone who says otehrwise has been drinking way to much because its not even an easily aqireed taste. For me the taste make me violently ill, last time I trried I hit the ground retching. It actually only takes a couple weeks to acquire a taste for most foods. Randox
About the marathon thing. I think the fairly large number of people who have had heart attacks during marathons, crossing the finishline, and shortly after running would dissagree with Sir Randulph Fiennes. Or at least the veary few who didn't die from those attacks would. I bet the other would dissagree with him to if they were alive. Im not saying its a sure way, many people never have a problem, but more than one person has literaly dropped dead at the finish line cause there heart couldn't cope. The human body is not desinged for long distance running. Its desined to move at high speed over short distances so that the sabertooth tiger dosent eat your [wagon] for lunch. But were getting off topic here. Drink lots of caffine and youed better take a calcium supplement. You will also die younger. Thats why I dont drink red bull (much). And 1 is good for me, i'll be good for hours untill it wears off and I literealy colapse.
Adam007
It's hard to say IMO. There are some proven health benefits, but it's not good to become dependent on it. The amount you're having isn't enough to get hooked on it I don't think, but my advice is to just have an apple in the morning rather than caffeine pills. I've recently started doing that and it works pretty well, and it's not a jittery type of energy either.
indy500fan
It's not too addicting compared to some other stuff. I was addicted to it for a while, but I weaned myself off of it. Was up to 3+ cans a day, then I dropped to 2 for about 3 months, now I am at 1. Hopefully I get to a point where I only drink it when I go out to eat once a week or so.
