Well, hi everyone I was just wondering what are your favorite ties and tie shirt combos, I need some inspiration for school, have to look the best in public.

And if you could help me out by telling me what type of shirts would go best with these ties I'd be thankful, I need to update my wardrobe, I only have about 40ties and i want to try and wear a different tie everyday of school or a different tie/shirt combo(proving a point).

Personally I don't like wearing ties. I don't like having anything around my neck, I don't like the constriction. I'm a bit strange in that sense, I don't put anything around my neck - no tie or chain.

 

 

 

That being said if I have to wear a tie I will under protest.

plain black if anything, ill go as far as pin-stripe

Solid colours, excluding white, look really good with anything. But keep them dark, and possibly dark colours of colours. Stripes should also go / btw.

Honestly, I think ties were appointed to the wrong gender.. I know a bunch of girls who like to wear ties for the hell of it, and a bunch of guys (including myself) who can't stand wearing ties. I wish ties would just disappear

Yeah, I know. This thread is much better than the onslaught of news threads the OT had...but a topic about ties is really weird.

You can't go wrong with a plain black tie.

As for ties...I've got some sweet ones from the 30's & 40's.

Zip ties are the best, but if you do them too tight they can cut off the person's circulation.

Why am I wearing a tie? Today is the day the Qu'ran was revealed to the Prophet on Mount Hira. There's a break between the multiple ceremonies that go on from 7 pm to about 5:30 am. We plan to go back to mosque for the next ceremony that starts around 9:45.

WN!!!! If I owned that, I would totally (not) wear it! Sometime maybe when I was 1000 miles away from anybody I knew or would ever see again, but it's still wickedly awesome, you know, one of those things that's cool in your head and when talking to people you don't really know (the internet), but not in real life.

Heh, as N0M and Diesel will most likely point out later on in this thread, at our school we had to learn how to tie a tie in gym class freshman year. Because of that lesson, even though I rarely tie a tie I can still do it perfectly when I do have to wear them :-w . Not really that hard, just two swings and a few loops. Like a five step process or something. Still, glad it was part of the curriculum.

Within say 40km of me there are dozens of schools (very populated area), and a majority of them have to wear ties as part of their uniform. Both private and public schools. Most schools in my area seem to have taken to ties, though i agree with what some of you said, i hate ties, they're so constricting.

I wonder how and who came up with the concept of tieing a piece of fabric around your neck to look important. I mean, shirts, keep your warm and look smart. Trousers, the same. Shoes are also practical. But ties?

I love men in a suit and tie. No character ties or Jesus ties and I'm cool with it.
