Sooner or later it will, these consoles all have hard drives now, wouldnt be hard to get java support.

so.. then u say that world of warcraft will be on wii too :?: :-k

Possible.

probably not simply because WoW is a multi dimensional,HUGE game requiring billions upon billions of code, and runescape is a java game that contains what,500 thousand lines of code? :shame:

Look, Java wont waste their time investing their programs onto the Wii, or anything else for that matter. Reason being is that in another year or 2 another console will come out and the Wii will be old. Thus, making their 1/2 years meaningless. :|

I dont need a siggy no moar.

u can load websites on the ps3 and psp and wii and the 360 even i think

but they cannot run java or flash yet, if im not mistaken. some1 wanted to install linux on their ps3 to try to play a flash based game. and i never heard back about that. but apparently they were going to try it.

i dunno.

it might happen 1 day. honestly, all need is a internet connection at that point or if some1 is using the pc in your home, run another line to your wii or w/e and u could play rs while your parents/brother/dog use the PC

it would be a nice thing to see jagex endorse it. and probably a good move honestly. draws more of a base, to bad ud need a USB mouse to. rite?

Ummm it seems like quite a few people misunderstood your point.

Just to clarify, The Nintendo Wii literally lets you browse the internet. Since Runescape is played entirely online. However, the Wii can't currently utilize Java, meaning you can't actually play RS at the moment on it. Also, since there wasn't a keyboard, typing would be next to impossible.

Well, now with a USB keyboard, all that's needed is to get Java onto the Wii. And to be completely honest, I'm sure someone has already done so.

not going to happen..dude runescape is for p.c. and p.c. only

and people don't make a thread saying "runescape on PS3" its not going to happen..

end of my story

if you'd read the post, you could at least make a sensible comment... he didn't say jagex needed to make runescape for the wii, but that the wii has an internet browser and if the wii can get java, you can play runescape on your wii...

A handheld portable gaming system such as the game boy color is hardly considered a console game system.

Alot of you people aren't understanding what he is saying ffs. Wii has an internet browser like anything other console these days and usb ports. If they add Java to the browser, then Runescape will be able to be run with a mouse and keyboard.

He doesn't mean an actual disc or downloadable game. Just like you can play flash games with the Wii internet browser.

you can play flash with the wii? i was told the ps3 couldnt handle complex flash. the game i was refering to would actually tend to lag due to at times... thousands of active items in the flash application.

also, how good is the wii for web browsing in general? do you own 1 and could you fill us in?

This thread made me head hurt. About 80% of the people in here have NO idea what they're talking about and are just spurting rubbish like it's fact.

1) Wii has SOME flash support, it's a little bit outdated now though so can't run everything but it can run the fast majority of web based flash websites such as Youtube.

2) Java support for the Wii, it could very well happen if Nintendo will allow it. Java is pretty much everywhere, almost every device uses it in some shape or form. For example most mobile phones, freeview boxes and certain things within your car all have java. So java for the wii isn't a wild idea and they probably are working on it.

3) World of Warcraft will never come out for anything else, just because someone said the Wii has a hard drive (Which it doesn't) that doesn't mean the game can come out for the Wii, not only is it's flash memory far too small for the game I doubt it'd even be able to run given the Wii's specs, of course they could port it but that'd involve having to change the game code and thus make making updates to it completly different to the PC version of the game and thus making it impossible to contact 99% of the gaming world, a very bad move on Blizzard's part if they were to do such a thing. Just because Runescape will be playable due to it being browser based doesn't mean every game under the sun could be ported.

Think I had more comments to make but can't remember them as of now. To summarise: Yes, when Java support eventually comes out for the Wii's Opera based Internet channel we should be able to play Runescape on Wii, although probably not very well even on low detail due to the Wii's low system memory.

Considering the multi-platform and flexibility of Java as a programming language, I don't really see why it couldn't be ported (eventually) to the Wii. It'd be painful trying to play RuneScape there, but I guess if you want to, knock yourself out.

Statistically speaking, the Wii is nothing more than a Power PC with ~733MHz processor speed and 152MiB* RAM, if you were able to use both the GDDR3 and SDRAM memory modules at the same time. That being said, with the minimum specs for RuneScape being what they are, it'd be a squeeze to run something like this game on there, although it could be done. Typically, new-generation consoles (including the PS3) are locked down to the point where data is not processed like a normal computer would process it. They're [more specifically, PS3 with it's cell processor] literally designed to crunch as much data as possible at one time instead of focusing on a GUI or supporting an OS or even running Flash or Java.

By the way - most every browser supports Java, including the portable version of Firefox I have on my thumbdrive. Does this mean I get Java with it? Nope. Java has to be natively installed on the hardware itself (and that's the part that very few of you have managed to grasp).

Look, Java wont waste their time investing their programs onto the Wii, or anything else for that matter. Reason being is that in another year or 2 another console will come out and the Wii will be old. Thus, making their 1/2 years meaningless. :|

Perhaps you should read up more on what Java is and how it's expanding into our everyday lives ...?
