deathwalker
on a recent trip to blue dragons, i noticed that high lvl monsters always seem to have high defence when there at a red bar...... i hit 9 0's in a row when the dragon was on red bar once, and it happens every other dragon, near enough i found this at lessers, greaters, and black demons(r.i.p whip, beserker and obby shield),and green drags too is this programmed or am i mega unlucky its not like my stats arent competent either(70 attack 70 defence 71 strength 70 hits) anyone else get this? purfishx
Yea, I've noticed this also. But F2P monsters are less dangerous so even if this does happen I'm not really at a risk. tryto
Solidus is probably right, but i do seem to notice this often. Especially with random event monsters. In my opinion, its part of Jagex's secret scheme to drain money from teh game. Aquriez
This does happen, it can't be imagination. It happens far too often to be bad luck, hitting 6+ 0s in a row when the npc is 'red-barred'. It gets so frustrating.
DarkVincent
Report them, they're obviously hacking. You can become a mod esily through this. ...seriously, I've seen this before. It's hellish annoying. How you become stronger by getting weaker?

Theoknight2
its completely "random" but i call it desperation. it happens with players and npcs alike. its programming, but it always seems to happen. just deal.

drapit
maybe they want to cling on to their puny little lives just like most players? Blue dragons can't use protect items prayer you know, and i suppose they want very badly to protect their precious hides.

Maxx91
It's pretty realistic, if you think about it. I mean, anyone/anything would give everything when theyre almost dead, theyll just fight a little bit harder :)
Lets_3ekout
The reason that it seems they get defence out of nowhere is simple. Say you kill a monster, be it what it is, and this inconvinience doesn't occur, what do you think? Nothing is the right answer. You'll pick up your reward from the monster and keep on training, and you never really put a thought to it (lest you just got a visage), you won't think about the fact that you just killed it in the next second. However, Say this (and I'll just call it this to make it easier) "bug" happened and it takes you a good 10 shots to hit a lowsy 3 damage to get the kill. You're going to be very frustrated if you've been training there for awhile. You're going to think about it afterwards, even if it won't be long. Now say this bad luck (which is what it is) happens straight after. You're going to come under the illusion that the monsters you just killed have been changed to annoy you at low hp, because you don't think about all those monsters you killed prior without getting this problem. Or of course you could follow the full-of-fun-facts theory that Jagex are "uber hax0rs" trying to annoy us into quitting their game that keeps their food on the table. Will H
^^ I think Phil has it. Mind you, if it really was programming (I doubt it), it would add a nice tough of realism. ~ W ~

HOSTiLE_KAi
Well that still happens even if sum1 has 99 attack (me) on a decent monster- let say metal dragon. So I think its a gambit HP Critical= Increase defense like FF, lol. phazonking
I have encountered the same scenario many times at the metal dragons. I'll hit consisitent 30's until its redbarred and then I seem to miss like five times in-a-row. I thought it was just my bad luck playing its role again, but I guess not :P 99/99 Defence 92/99 strength 80/99 slayer
