Joooely
I don't know anyone irl that plays rs, I have no problem with mentioning it to people thought if the subject ever arose and it'd be cool to meet other people that play. I don't understand why you'd be labelled a geek if you play a fun game. :? Back after 3 years.
gameboypen
 Wow, just wow. I would've thought I was hearing things too. And if that happened in my Maths class my classmates would view him as more lame. :-w
Italian5kamikaze
My computer literacy teacher automines. I was watching his main computer when i sat behind him and it would go through showing everyone elses computer screen so he could make sure they were on task and it showed his personal computer and i saw runescape so i waited for it to pop up again and sure enough it was and he was automining coal. :XD: Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
SanFranciscoGiants
Haha no, no one but me in that class plays it. And I would NEVER talk about RS in school. The first rule of fight club: Never talk about Fight Club. LMAO, haha love that movie. Anyways, its social suicide to mention runescape in a high school/college, and while i HONESTLY am a completely normal guy (friends, good grades, football and golf in school, snowboards, ladies man, etc.), i dont think ANYONE knows that i play runescape, excluding some kid that moved 3 states away from me a few years ago, but i think he'll keep the secret seeing as no one talks to him from my town anymore :XD: Funny, I'm on the snowboard team, and varsity baseball team, lots of friends, etc. but nobody cares I play, and I'll tell anyone :? . Skul_Lord1
You should just bring the subject up one day,for all you know, he could be quite a well known player. I can see the faces of the other people in your class Probably like this :? and  and :-s oh and :anxious: Oh and you teacher should do this on the subject :-# if you said "runescape" at my school, seeing that 90% of the population there are rednecks, they'd be like "whats that", me: "a computer game online", "eh!? oh one of those thinga-ma-gigers mrs clark got on her desk? a compooter? SwreeTak
Can I have some of your class? Me too pl0x? Wow, I wish my teachers were like that. Well, actually, I have got a very funny physiqs teacher in my school. I'm going the first year in "Gymnasiet", which is like high college. He's a guy who could play RS, but I doubt that he does it. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
doomy
I find this story hard to believe :? A teacher wouldn't give odds of something they would have thought nobody would know about... ortsu
I dont try to hide the fact that i play runescape, if even my fiancee was ok with it, then i dont see why i should be embarassed for playing a really good game. Ok, it is a java game, and no its not as good looking as wow, but i really dont care. My friends, whose age range is between 20-40, havent had anything bad to say about it. I even got one of my friends to try the game after he had chuckled a bit to me because of rs, and guess whose playing it now. (and he is hiding the fact that he plays from hes friends :D )
samurai_lassie
At my primary school when a few real life mates played we were looking up Tip.It for something along the lines of seeing how good mithril was and at that time we had a replacement teacher and she said she played it for a while and was level 70 we were speechless taking into consideration we were like 40s at the time. On that note a lot of people at my current school play, mostly at lunch times sitting around lumbridge i so happened to log in to make sure my herbs had not gotten diseased because i forgot to use supercomost in the morning and I had a kid ask to fight in the wildrness with my santa hat on and he would "own" me . I have been where most can only imagine, what those brainless incapable Runescape players are like in real life :D, turns out they talk pretty much as dumb as they do in the game . 563rd to 99 mining on 15/08/0799 Farming

Xx_Flare_xX
Well today I got one of the biggest surprises and laughs in school that I've ever had. I'm a senior in a smallER high school in Wisconsin. It's Fourth hour in my probability and statistics class, right before lunch. Of course we're talking about the probability of something happening in a certain situation. The teacher is going over examples such as the odds of pulling a certain kind of baseball card out of a pack, getting hit on your way to the airport, and so on and so on. I was about 2 seconds away from falling asleep right in my desk when I hear the words "Dust Devil". I thought he was referring to the vacuum...but of course being the avid player I am, I immediately got a chuckle out of it. Then right after "Dust Devil" was said he said "The odds of getting a Dragon Chain from this animal is one in so many thousand kills". Everyone else in my class was pretty much oblivious to the whole situation but I about dropped my jaw right onto the floor. My teacher, my tennis coach, and father of a member of my buddy on our drumline plays runescape. He's getting close to 45 or 50 and I could NOT believe it. I just thought I would share the story with you all and I'm assuming there's a few other stories like this out there! : I ROFLED at this bit :XD:
Michigander
According to some "friends" that i used to play rs with and they quit I am now a nerd :? :shame: lol and yes talking about rs at school for me would = not good, most people dont know i still play it
The Observer
I would never mention RuneScape in real life. They label me as a nerd and a geek if I do that. Even when I don't bring it up they do it. I'm scared that I'm going to end up throwing a desk at them. :uhh: It's all because my friend that played it quit because he got scammed, he starts attacking me about it.
Omali
Where I live, you can't mention it to anyone without being slammed for "Omg dat game sux" and "lol nerd". Same thing from the people I talk to on Ventrilo, but luckily I've managed to convince them almost fully that I don't play anymore :-w .
ViolaWoman
Wow, I just had to add to this; what a great story. I can actually believe your Statistics and Probabilities teacher came up with an odd example to illustrate the mathematical probability; mine did the same when I was in College. Only thing is, back in the early 90s, he used Poker and dice as the models. I don't think RS was around then. Having said that, my husband and I are in our 50s and we both play RS. We have several friends and clan members who are in their 40s and 50s. I work from home and I free-lance as a professional violist around Florida. If I ever mentioned I play RS to any of my musician colleagues, they would have no idea what in hell I was talking about. I also work from home supporting customers and the company I work for is very diverse. Everyone I work with works from a home office and we're all in different states. Me fellow employees range in age from their 20s to their 60s, so it's a pretty broad group. We're all pretty computer savvy, too. We have a company website that's the equivalent of the "water cooler" and just last week, while I was browsing their forums, I came across a thread for WoW players, so naturally, I started up a thread for RS players. Hmm, seems there are quite a FEW of us elderly (jk) folks who play either RS or WoW and so now, of course, there's a rivalry of sorts... at my WORK, for God's Sake! :XD:
atronic92
That's a funny story. :XD: I wish I had a teacher that played RS, but then I might hear: me: "Are we getting our tests back today?" teacher (tired): "No, I stayed up later power fishing to 99 so I didn't have time to grade them." me: -.- I only have a few friends that I can talk to at school that play RS, and only one of them I actually talk to a lot. We have to use a sort of code. I check for updates in the morning and he will say "uUpdate?" Then I try to say in as few words as possible either "no" or what the update is, usually while someone watches us, and then asks us what we are talking about, to which we reply, "Nothing." ...:? On the other hand, a lot of the "cool" people at my school play WoW, but don't want to tell anyone so they will ask you if you play "popo". "We will certainly not be gaining money or members with this update. Instead, we are doing this for the good of the game, which is as dear to our hearts as it is to you."- JAGEX, December 13, 2007

Embraced
I was once in a swimming pool changing room and there was a group of kids, around 5 of them, a few years younger than me. And i could over hear their conversation and what they were saying seemed so familiar. Then i just popped the question ' You talking about Runescape' ? Indeed they were but they just asked me if i could give them stuff. I never added their rsn. \ P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month.
