November 9, 200718 yr Will it rise or fall? That's what I'm wondering. I'm currently 33.6 / 50M for the sword, and I'm worrying that the prices will soar and I'll spend a couple more weeks trying to get it. At the moment, it'll take 4 more weeks and a few days to get the sword, and I don't like it being prolonged because it seriously isn't healthy to play that long. lol. I'm just wondering what your opinions are on this. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

I'm just wondering what your opinions are on this. I tested one at 117 Cb. Unless you have extra cash laying around, it is NOT worth buying. It is inconsistent and limited in too many aspects to be the whip-destroyer that everyone thinks it is. In fact, at 117 Cb, I was defeated by a lvl 108 Dharoker (twice out of three times) and a lvl 95 Range tanker (once out of four), using BGS. Read up qeltar's guide on GS's. It is very thorough. Prices will NOT soar on BGS or ZGS. There are too many GWD'ers, and really is not worth that much. I personally am using my GS cash to invest in 92 Range. I am considering buying a GS in the distant future, after I get some spare cash with GWD. I would suggest using your cash for a complete Barrows set, or buying range/mage levels, or 70 prayer. November 9, 200718 yr Stick to whip. All I have to say. | Dragon drops: 5 | GWD drops: 8 | DK drops: 4 | Obby drops: 2 |
November 9, 200718 yr There seem to be conflicting responses to the effectiveness of godswords, but generally, the whip is better for slaying lower to moderately defensed creatures (e.g. ogres, giants, etc), while the godsword is more efficient at slaying higher defensed monsters (mostly boss monsters such as GWD bosses, kalphite queen, chaos elemental etc.) Back on thread topic: I'd say theprice of the BGS would consistently keep falling - as the whip is a slightly more efficient weapon GENERALLY. The price only raised to 50m because of Jagex -SLIGHTLY- buffing up the difficulty of killing the GWD bosses (although mainly only the Zamorak one was buffed). In time, it will fall, however updates such as the Grand Exchange may affect the prices, so be wary and vigilant.
November 9, 200718 yr Like all things - its price will eventually setlte downwards to a proper price Only reason the swords are dumb prices is mostly because everyone wants to be seen with one first. Gorak Chronicles Ended, thinking of something new for next week
November 9, 200718 yr I think that the price will fall a little more before setteling at this new price. But that's just my theory, and I'm not an expert on member items prices. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
November 9, 200718 yr The prices of the godswords seem to ebb and flow, but the Bandos has been roughly in the 50 mil range since about two weeks after the GWD came out. The only reason I can see it fluctuating greatly is if the Grand Exchange causes a big move in prices; there could be some instability in the markets when it comes out. As for the godsword versus whip question -- it really depends on what you like to do. In some cases the godsword is better, and in some the whip is better. For most routine PvM activities, the Bandos GS won't be really any better than the whip, because its special is not particularly useful. For some monsters, like the giant mole, the Bandos GS is MUCH better than the whip. For PvP, the Bandos GS is usually better than the whip. If you get a good spec on someone with it that can virtually end a duel. Incidentally, anyone who thinks the whip is flatly better than the godsword hasn't tried the Sara godsword. For PvM, slayer and so forth, the Sara GS kicks the whip's butt into next week. If you want to read a whole ton of stuff on the godswords, my report on them is here. A special attack isn't worth paying double or triple the price, tbh. Also, I do cws frequently, so Zammy is a big help there.
November 9, 200718 yr The thing with the Zammy GS is that CW is pretty much the only place that it has value, unless you are one to go PKing with such a valuable piece of equipment (I am not!) :) At CW though it is a lot of fun: If by "double or triple the price" you are referring to the Sara GS, then I'm sure most would agree with you. But there are things you can do with the Sara GS that are impossible with any other weapon... and my guess is that by the time I hit 99 Slayer it will have paid for itself in terms of time, food and prayer potion savings. Besides, I didn't pay 120m for mine. ;) Qeltar, aka Charles KozierokWebmaster, RuneScoop - Premium RuneScape Information for Expert Players -- Now Free!Featuring the Ultimate Guide to Dungeoneering -- everything you need to know to get the most of the new skill!

That's like 14m, and it will very likely last you until 99 slayer.
November 9, 200718 yr The godsword owns, in my opinion. (I have the bandos one) Had it since few days after it was out, and I love it. Like it has been said, it may not be better for things with lower def/hp, but on things that are higher def/hp (and on other players), you will really see the difference in accuracy.

That's like 14m, and it will very likely last you until 99 slayer. It's definitely not for everyone. But if you can afford it, the Sara GS lets you do things you simply cannot do in any other way.. even with Guthans. I can do assignments of 150+ Aberrant Specters with a single trip and 1 p pot with the Sara GS. Guthans can't be used there, and would be a hassle even if it could. Other monsters... I've done tests where without the Sara GS I could kill 150 in a trip, and with it, over 400. It completely revolutionizes Barrows. You can go into Ahrim's crypt with no prayer, spec him to heal and get a few prayer points, then put on Protection from Mage to finish him off. Same with Karil... saves a couple of whole p pots per trip, and is faster.. and time is money. Besides, what else am I going to do with my gold, spend it on a useless Burger King hat? :) If you have the money, the Sara GS is worth it. ~q Qeltar, aka Charles KozierokWebmaster, RuneScoop - Premium RuneScape Information for Expert Players -- Now Free!Featuring the Ultimate Guide to Dungeoneering -- everything you need to know to get the most of the new skill!

But tbh, that's not worth it to me.
November 9, 200718 yr Bandos prices will not go down, because 56M was their first stable price. It dropped down to 44M, now the few people who have a large stock of them are pushing the price back up.
November 9, 200718 yr Eventually the prices will probably fall as more people become more experienced with GWD and more people play it in general. I'd wait till then to buy one and stick with a whip :D.
November 9, 200718 yr Prices will NOT soar on BGS or ZGS. There are too many GWD'ers, and really is not worth that much. well, soar is not the word i would use, but its possible it will go up more due to an update coming soon
November 9, 200718 yr I have been immersed in calculating a complex equation to meticulously determine (within the boundaries of mathematics), the intermediate price of the fabled God Sword within a month's time. After several moments of undisputed transilience lending me their communal helping hand, I concluded that if you substitute the upcoming terms utilizing the Gaussian Elimination method, the answer becomes crystal-clear. Allow me, if you will, to replicate the greediness of a merchant as the entity O; and to substitute the buyer's desperation with the variable Y. Disparity is obviously an active entity, allowing for many different outcomes of the final formulae. To dismiss any budding confusion, my final outcome is strictly the average of all gathered evidence. Beware, as the equation may be algebraic in nature, it contains logarithmic qualities as well: O=Overpriced Y=You're dumb Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
November 9, 200718 yr Godsword Gets a beating from the Whip 30/08/2007 The whip wins. Stats for the whip: 82 slash, 82 strength, Requires 70 attack Stats for the GodSword (GS): 132 slash, 132 strength, 8 prayer, requires 75 attack So when we have these facts, it looks like the GS is the clear winner. But wait, there̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s more: -The Whip is 1.5 times faster than the GS -The GS is a two handed weapon. This means that we can use either a rune defender or a shield with the whip. The most commonly used item is the defender, so we will use that for our comparison. Using a whip by itself ignores one major weakness of the GS; the fact that it is two handed. A person with a whip would be able to take advantage of a sheild or a defender, while a person with a GS would not. It is only common sense that a whip user would do so. Here are our new stats: Stats for the whip + defender: 101 slash, 87 strength, Requires 70 attack Stats for the GodSword (GS): 132 slash, 132 strength, 8 prayer, requires 75 attack And here are the new stats when we add in all of the str enhancing gear that one usually pks with: Whip: 124 slash, 126 strength, 10 prayer GS: 155 slash, 171 strength, 18 prayer Still, the GS has a edge, but the whip isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t that far off. Now, in the time that the GS hits twice, the whip will hit 3 times. So lets multiply the values to factor in speed. Here are our new stats: Whip: 372 slash, 378 strength, 10 prayer (not affected by speed) GS: 310 slash, 342 strength, 18 prayer So really, the whip is still superior. The GS would be lots of fun, with its unique specials and large hits, but it is just not as good as the old faithful whip. This isn't the whip killer we had been waiting for. ~theunforgiving~ Article ripped from RuneGamer.com As you can see, eventually people will realize it's not worth it; just as a novelty.
November 9, 200718 yr if you're so worried about the price then don't buy one, because the price overtime will ALWAYS fall due to supply increase, especially for an item like the god sword that a lot of people spend time doing. It depends on what you're goals in RS are, if you really want the sword go for it. Personally I'm a skiller and my money is devoted to skilling, so I won't spend money on something that will drop in price if I'm not going to use it (If I was still doing slayer I might have purchased one).

November 9, 200718 yr Meh. Maybe novelty items god swords - but hell, theyre better the party hats. They actually have a use. "Football is a simple game made complicated by people who should know better."

The analysis you quoted is like using theoretical benchmarks to say one piece of hardware is better than another -- those who have used these weapons in the real world know differently. In a duel against a whip and a rune defender, the godsword will almost always win because of KO ability and accuracy. Sure, the whip is faster, but you have to take into account that each hit rolls the same formula; it doesn't stack. That means one hit with the Godsword is still more accurate and still more powerful than two hits with the Whip. Now, against a charged DFS, a Godsword is at a disadvantage....
