Jagex - Launching two new games next years.

Featured Replies

Quite interesting the BBC did an article on Jagex :)

BTW: Is it just me, or do the graphics in those screenshots have much better graphics than the real RuneScape?

I don't recall being able to play at that resolution, with monsters having that clear textures.

that guy in the background has rune plate and d2h on, so i don't think it's another game

As if General Graardor didn't get the point across enough that it's runescape.....

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,

that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.

So we shall flow a river forth to Thee,

and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti.

I like that fact that the article says we'll be able to pay by PayPal next year. Also wonder if that's the big update they were talking about lol.

Quite an interesting article, although I'll probably still stick to RS.

Lol. I'm very surprised that some people didn't recognize the picture. I'm F2P, and I knew exactly what that image was as soon as I saw it.

BTW, that's how it actually looks in-game.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

It just says "online games" that doesn't mean its an MMO. I don't believe that this Mechscape thing is going to be an MMO. I won't believe it until I see it.

Well we will have to wait and see then.

I can guerente (excuse the spelling :P) this though what ever it is in the upcoming months there are going to be so many crappy rumours your not going to know what to believe.

MMO's take ALOT to run, especially if they plan on running both games the same as they run Runescape. Updating weekly, keeping reasonable customer support. You would need 2 seperate teams and I dont think even Jagex has the financial capability to do that. My opinion is that it will be a Mech type multicombat game that is Java based, but not an MMO, more of a Quake Arena type game (basically a battle game is what I'm getting at).

You mean, a game that goes Boom Boom?

basically, a third person (or maybe first person) multiplayer shooter thing that is Java based. It would still beat out all the other Java games on the web if it used the same type of engine as Runescape.

40k says it'll be an MMO. And it'll have a much more powerful engine than RuneScape has right now, because it's easier to create a powerful engine than to upgrade an old one like RS's.

Yes, stop spamming, we are all WELL aware of MechScape and whatever the new game is. Leave it alone.

99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th

Did this stand out to anyone else as much as it did to me?

Dedicated fans need not worry though as, said Mr Iddison, Runescape will be the main investment focus for Jagex for the next five years.

Yes, 5 years at least.. what happens then? My guess is it just won't be jagex's main concern and we get less updates (I have a ton to do anyways)

And btw, I can't wait for the new games. I'm staying runescape 100% I want the scammers, noobs, and gold farmers to leave though.

5 years is a long time, especially for anyone who has been playing since 2001. 10 years of your life spent on one video game is very extreme.

Erm you have been able to pay by paypal for along time, used to use it before i had a cc.

Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig!

if you think about it. look how runescape started. very small at first and grew and was added to with updates. i figure these titles would be similar in how they grew/grow. so, dont expect a full game like runescape with a lot to do at first, more just a new mmporg that is starting out and will be updated as it goes; and will develop as its playerbase grows, that's what i'd expect but maybe they will be more complete than i expected, but i dont think so. the big thing about these games is they will probably be a similar leveling structure/addictablity features/chat systems/technologies/minigames/music etc. so that people will play it in a similar way such as runescape. anyways it's good news they're expanding and it makes sense, since they do have more capital and a fan/player base as well as great technolgies and experience. i would expect these games to be entertaining. and i wouldnt be surprised if there were f2p servers as well if not exclusively when introduced. and maybe runescape members will be able to play the beta. we'll just have to wait and see.

Wow at least 5 years? Shame.... RuneScape is such a hit.

GF Latinoking90 and all the time I put it in if RuneScape shuts down.

Meh it could be like RSC in where theres two worlds and if you get banned you don't get to play more. Damn it's going to suck when they close RuneScape.

Maybe quit while I'm ahead lol.

There is no way that is real. Jagex most likely faked that picture. That is supposed to be in God Wars, right? I haven't been in God Wars, as I am F2P. But I was on there long enough to know Jagex could never pull such a stunt off with Java...

And two new games? Are you serious? MechScape, but what else?

If I remember right, Graardor does actually look a lot like that, I've never looked at him closely, but it seems like it.

At first when I read it, my thought was "only 5 more years? Aww, I wanted it to last forever"...Then I thought about it and realized that I'll be off to college and have other things in my life, so maybe it's not so bad after all.

621st person to achieve 99 slayer on December 3rd, 2007

177th person to 99 summoning on June 21st, 2008

very interesting, although the new guy doesn't sound like he has everything down yet

Did it say that Jagex doesn't advertise? It said something along the lines of 'we use word of mouth'

What about miniclip =;

first of all, runescape is not advertised on miniclip its a redirect. and theirs no big banners, so its like they are affiliates. and 2ndly, they dont i have never seen a runescape commercial or pop up ad any where.

i remember a LONG time ago, when i started, i found out about runescape through a popup ad on a small scale site i visited before. Like, right after santa hats old. boy have times changed...

i`m hope rs doesn`t get ditched, i worked on it for so long and futuristic games aren`t my style :(

You never know those screenies could be the next graphical update.

So saying there is going to be somthing big in January, could it be 1 of 2 new games, or even a new graphical update that looks as good as those images?

RuneScape 3(D)

Starting a new clan or simply want a better site? PM me and I can organise something for you!!

The average is 22 years? wow

I would put a cool link here but I don't know how.

'Jagex also polices the many kingdoms of Gielinor to stop people "farming" gold themselves or with "bots" - computer controlled characters. '

=D>

wow, yet there's still more. I don't think playing a couple of Yahoo games would be better than playing Runescape. I play continuously focused on Yahoo games than ruenscape it is today.

the news report online article remains a background and basically the most positive and some negatives turning to a positive, making runescape an okay game to play.

let me applaud to that, for a moment, the next two games might not be great as runescape, but the article certainly says that the average of players would probably range from teens to a 4 year(s) student in college.

Article isn;t convincing, but a general quick background of its cons, pros, and recent history in the past with some stats, but missed out a few points.

No, I do not want to become a member, I would never be one, I will never be a member.

it'll be great when we get to see the beta versions come out.

I hope RS members will be able to join the beta test.

Dude, the graphics are so good that you can see his nipples
Im still entitled to say goblin nipples look freaky

Why are people complaining about the next 5 years statement? I personally think it's amazing that Jagex have made that statement - making RuneScape the main product for almost double it's current lifespan! And the fact that they haven't said that after 5 years, RS will be left to fester... Surely it depends on how the community is looking after that 5 years? For all we know, everyone could get hooked on one of Jagex's new games, and then we'd all complain how their focus isn't on the new games!

Anyway, how many people will still be around after 5 years? I can't say I will be - there's a chance, but I'm not certain... I've played the game for around 3 years now, so I couldn't say if I'll continue to play after 8 years!

Think, if you are 13 now, that'd take you to 18. If you are currently 18, it would take you to 23. Who's life doesn't change within 5 years? ::'

Oh, and surely it's better that the average Jmod age is 22 - a young company, providing services for young people?

I'm loving that article, it shows that Jagex still haven't reached their prime :D

does this mean rs will shut down?

Atleast read the whole article before posting...

It says that RuneScape will be their main focus for atleast the next 5 Years...

5 years probably seems like ages to a younger person, as that is over 1/3 of their life so far. To an older person, it may seem to go by in the blink of an eye.

As for that screenshot, it looks a lot like Graardor.... on steroids. The graphics in that shot seem a lot nicer than he actually looks.

 oh i got hot topic, that was unexpected.

Oh by the way they have regestered another name other than mechscape, i think its called "Funorb" or something similar to that.

hmm, don't know if there's enough people interested to make the two games as profitable as rs...

5 more years to count down

you guys are focusing to much on the games themselves. im still excited that all the f2p noobs might have a new place to go. if this happens, we will begin a new era my friends.

Besides, runescape has plenty of time left, as long as it makes money
