November 16, 200718 yr My school district no longer can celibrate Christmas. We cant even call our break from school "Holiday Break." Now its all about winter :-s (Kinda old, but w/e) Iv also heard a school not celebrating halloween because of ONE, yes ONE family that thinks it is offencive(sp) to them because of thir religion. Normally i would flip out about that, but im just not feelin it today. WTF happened to the old days when every one was happy about what ever they celebrated and no one cared about who celebrated what. 99 Pics - Range, Defence, HP, Attack, Magic, Strength, Cooking
November 16, 200718 yr Well first, '[garden tool]' was "an exclamation of surprise and delight" (from dictionary.com) long before it was a poorly pronounced version of a lady of the night. And since when is someone calling out a slang name for them derogatory to women; Santa is not announcing that someone is a [garden tool], or even that a [garden tool] is a bad thing (and, indeed it implies otherwise as he seems especially jovial when he proclaims it). People really need to not think into these things to much, it's such a waste of time and energy.
November 16, 200718 yr Yeah, great idea.. I'll bet they'll still say [garden tool] [garden tool] [garden tool] anyway. Doomy edit: I like sheep

November 16, 200718 yr This is what happens when idiotic noobs get in to the government and the sorts. It wasn't the government that censored, it was the business. Still, ridiculous and makes the company look completely coward not taking any risks going with what's supposed to be normal. Pixel sigs by me.Pixel Art

November 16, 200718 yr Are you surprised? You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."
November 16, 200718 yr Are you surprised? I'm not. PC gone wrong is nothing new, I'm sad to say. Besides, the US slang term came later. If tif started to say that 'Pencil' was offensive, would the world change the name to 'writing stick'? ~ W ~

If tif started to say that 'Pencil' was offensive, would the world change the name to 'writing stick'?Nice example there. That's the problem with slang nowdays. Words are so easily tarnished and then PC puts in the boot aswell, and before you know it, something trivial is then taboo because of some nut upstairs freaking out over something which shouldn't have been a problem to begin with :uhh:
November 17, 200718 yr If people really interpret it like that, then they have some issues. Words mean nothing when not in context. Last.fm Signature Overlays
November 17, 200718 yr If you think about it, saying "Ha ha ha" is doing more harm. The children will think that they are being laughed at by Santa. :anxious:  I lol'd, imagine how confusing that'd be to children..

November 17, 200718 yr EEveryone is offended by everything nowadays. Especially what Christians do. Whether its the santa tradition or the name "easter break" instead of spring break or the "under god" in the pledge of allegiance, people always seem to find something to be offended by. as a christian, abortion does more then offend me. Premarital sex does more than offend me. Baptist protests at funerals and sites like godhatesamerica offend me. People and TV shows that make fun of Jesus and/or God offend me. But does anyone listen to our views? No. its "liberty". Were free to do whatever we want within reason. Why can't the same be said about "hohoho?" modern society determines slang like this these days. There used to be an old expression, a "[rooster] and bull story". it just means a fake story being told. But modern society has twisted the language, and now you can't use the saying in regular talk because both the words have a new meaning that ruins the expression. Why can't people give eachother a break? You don't like "hohoho"? ignore it. You don't like "under god"? dont say it. You don't like calling it "easter break"? call it spring break then. You don't like "merry christmas?" then say happy holidays. Just leave other people alone and live your own life. If you plan to be offended by something, you better be willing to show lenience to other people who are offended in your ways. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.
November 17, 200718 yr has the whole world gone crazy? It is about time that the political correctness fools be stopped. If all they can do is look around for silly phrases and words that may make some people feel uncomfortable then they really need to get a life. Myself being agnostic find the word God offensive does that wean that I have the right to cry about it. NO! Lets come back down to earth and start thinking. Because in one country a certain word may have a slang meaning does it mean we should stop and die NO

If you plan to be offended by something, you better be willing to show lenience to other people who are offended in your ways. You got it right. If you want to exercise political correctness, there is absolutely no harm in that. However, asking someone else to use political correctness is wrong. If a comment offends you, try to end the conversation politely (ranting about how a comment has offended you is not classified as polite) and ignore it. And besides, the standard laugh of Santa is 'hohoho', not '[garden tool]!'. There was never a problem here in the first place. ~ W ~
November 17, 200718 yr They could have just changed it to some other gardening product, instead of having Santa laugh in every small child's face after he asks them what they want for Christmas. "Rake, rake, rake, Merrrrrry Christmas!" Hmm, doesn't sound right :-k Lol, laughing after they tell him what they want..."I want a fire truck, Santa". "HA HA HA!!!", like they'll never get it. Crushes them little chillins' feelings. :P This whole thing is pretty screwed up. Political correctness is just out the window. Command the Murderous Chalices!
