hmm....free college ridding myself and my parents of debt or voting for which ever two faced backstabbing politician I despise the least......this is a tough one

I just don't believe in making a difference through voting. Individual's opinions mean jack in modern democracies. The real votes come from communities, universities, churches, etc. where politicians have multiple speeches a year and convince thousands of people at once to vote for the same party/candidate, which they eventually will under peer pressure.

 

 

 

Quite on the opposite, if I wanted to make a difference... I'd just take the $1M for life & not vote, then pay a thousand people $1K if they vote for a candidate of my choosing. :lol: There wont be even a hundred elections in my lifetime, so the vote-profit is massive... Isn't the world an ugly place.

I'd be voting for a third party anyways so my vote is already useless. So yeah, I would trade it away for an iPod.

I see the reason why getting rid the Electoral College is to advance the agenda for the North American Union.

None of the three main parties (I'm British so Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems) really vary in policies that would affect my life in anyway. And its a guarentee that one of those three will be in power. If the BNP threatened to come into power, I would definately vote against it. Simularly if a major party stated that it would legalise certain drugs, I would vote for it as long as it's other policies were ok with me.

I'm not going to deny that the BNP used to be racist, but under Griffin in the past few years they have become an alternative to the main political parties who trade policies and brand anyone who doesn't want Britain overrun by immigrants racist. The latest immigration debate (last week) the main 3 parties said "we realise immigration is a problem and the people of Britain are concerned, but we're not going to have any real position on the matter because it will be seen as "racist"". It shows how scared the tories, labour and lib dems are of the matter when they didn't even invite the BNP to give an alternative, something mirrored by some of the phone ins.

 

 

 

Racial seperation and racism are utterly different things, the BNP stands for diversity and allowing real freedom of speech, something you're obviously trying to squash with the PC garbage.

I'm heavily into American politics and although I'm not of legal voting age yet, I would give up my right for a free ride through college but not a ipod. It's easier for me to say that I would give it up because currently I can't vote and even if I could, I'm not a strong supporter of any of the current candidates.

iPods suck. Just buy a CD player. Free tuition, though, is something very different. 1 vote won;t win the election, but 1 free year will win back much money for me. :D

To me the idea of giving up one's right to vote is completely disturbing. So, no way am I going to give up voting, not for anything.

The BNP are not a serious party, they have a few council members, no members of parliament. Their political influence is worthless. The press just likes to show how stupid their policies are, which they are correct in doing so. Vote Conservative.

I do not see why everyone is saying votes are worthless; here in the UK some constituencies depend on twenty or thirty votes sometimes. Like where I live itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s always a two horse race between the conservatives and the liberal democrats, and in some places a vote can make a big difference, maybe not on the overall party that is elected but definitely a difference in your local area. In America thereÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s always some vote on every damn civil servant position anyway, probably the reason why you have a low turnout.

If its just one election, then I'd go as low as an iPod for my voting right, but I don't think anything would make me give it up forever.

Seeing as I already have a 16gig iPod Touch which I bought with my own hard earned cash, no. But for even 1 year worth of college, I would defenitly give up my voting rights, even for 2 years.

Hmm... My right to vote for an iPod. Not quite. An iPod Touch and a Library of songs of my choice. That would be worth it.

 

 

 

But, then again, seeing as I'm only 14, my values may change in 4 years. But, until then, iPod Touch and a bunch of free songs? Hell yeah.
