November 21, 200718 yr Nothing that plugs in or has a cord. I didn't learn this until a few years ago even though she has been saying it since I could talk. So I bought her something that plugs in for... her birthday! Anyways, my mom avoids strong-smelling candles or fragrances so I avoid those. I know the types of candy she likes along with her favorite restaurant - maybe a nice neat certificate saying dinner out, your treat? My mom likes a certain brand of car which she loves to drive.. so maybe a little keychain or a shirt that says the brand name on it. Flowers always work. Bed linens are nice but that's sort of a personal thing. Maybe a bed/couch pillow. It definitely varies per person... just try to be original, maybe make some of the things yourself, etc. You definitely have SOME idea of what she likes - look at what she has or uses all the time and build on that. /shrug
November 21, 200718 yr CHOCOLATE. CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE! Even better when she hands it back to you because she doesn't want to "get fat" Last.fm Signature Overlays
November 21, 200718 yr CHOCOLATE. CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE! Even better when she hands it back to you because she doesn't want to "get fat" But she'll let her children! What a gal. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
November 21, 200718 yr Get yourself a tattoo  She'll adore that. Why don't you get a picture frame that you can put multiple pictures of yourself in? Like the pictures of the good times.
November 21, 200718 yr Whats this "Mom" you speak of? Anyway I get my mum a lottery gift pack a lot of the time. She enjoys that. Included with it a lovely card with a loving message and my mum's happy. :)
November 21, 200718 yr One word: eBay. Give her some stupid Christmas tre ornament you mae in Kindergarden, she'll love that. (But you won't when she shows all your relatives.)
November 21, 200718 yr I'm buying mine a painting. They were always unhappy with the painting that came with our house in the dining room, so I have asked an artist friend for one of her works. November 21, 200718 yr *shrugs* My mum made me a list... ... I lost the list. :wall: Notoriously Trollish.
November 21, 200718 yr I'm so glad I have sisters. They usually end up finding stuff for my mum. I just give them some money for it. Christmas shopping at its best - none at all.
November 21, 200718 yr Parfum useally does the trick. To the person who said chocolate/flowers, i think that's more off a birthday/mothersday gift. Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.
November 21, 200718 yr CHOCOLATE. CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE! Even better when she hands it back to you because she doesn't want to "get fat" But she'll let her children! What a gal. Being sarcastic again? Try to say something positive once in a while. It feels good. As far as gift ideas there's a lot of good ones already posted. Ornaments can't be a loser. Flowers and chocolate are always good fall backs. Yeah no power tools (unless you need it).
November 21, 200718 yr Typical gifts of; What not to get - Bath salts, candles, shampoo. They really don't appreciate them like they say they do. Don't get gift vouchers as a first choice What to get - Token for a facial/spa session, Perfume, Chocolate never really fails but get something different, nice jewlerry (doesn't have to be precious, just look good - try new look, debenhams, acessorize jewlerry etc,) good quality make up (max factor, remington, avon, revlon, benefit, loreal, 17, as a guide.) Gift vouchers are a last resort but get them for a good shop (not hmv or anything - go for multistores, like debenhams, i think macy's is one in america? basically a place they can choose from cosmetics, clothes, home stuff etc) The main thing is buy them something they'll actually like and use rather than something they say they will. Go for quality, get something cheap and you'll look cheap ;)
November 21, 200718 yr The main thing is buy them something they'll actually like and use rather than something they say they will. Go for quality, get something cheap and you'll look cheap ;) Exactly my gift motto. I value my friends and family a lot, so why not spend even a couple of hundred bucks on a gift they'll recieve only once a year? It doesn't have to be a 100-carat diamond necklace or a sports car, you can still spend a moderate amount of money and appear to truly care about the person (which you hopefully do). Understandably that might be a huge problem for younger people, seeing as they probably can't just spend hundreds/thousands of dollars for their friend/family's gifts without using all their savings. But really, go for quality... I have experience and know when people talk behind your back... Just don't buy a typical bar of chocolate or a $4.95 sale perfume. Sure, you'll be giving something, but it leaves the impression you really didn't care/give much thought to that person and what he/she likes. Oh, and if you are a parent/grandparent/cousin/aunt/uncle: Don't buy socks as a present! Seriously. I know what I'm talking about. Unless you deliberately want to appear as annoying...
November 22, 200718 yr A Craftsmen Tool set and a tire jack. Isn't that what every woman wants? Haha :) .
November 22, 200718 yr Well... Last year I signed up for a woodshop class after school and told my mom I was going to the movies after school on those days. So then on Christmas morning there was a huge wrapped box in our living room from me. Inside was an adorondac chair (worth 500USD) That I made, she really liked it so mabye try something that you make yourself
November 25, 200718 yr Every woman needs protection, and the Desert Eagle .50 Cal handgun is the perfect gift for women of all ages  Anyways, get her a pair of soft pajamas, a bathrobe, etc. but not as your first choice, more like second. I got my mom a bathrobe lat year or the year before, she loved it, but I probably could have done better. And if you're going for chocolate, you can't go wrong with Godiva. High quality, the best you can get (as far as I know). Command the Murderous Chalices!
