Update of items kept on death with GE?

Featured Replies

THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT THE DUEL ARENA, so flamers and trolls please KEEP OUT.

Jagex recently announced that the "real" or market price of items, as opposed to their store value, will be used to calculate stake values for duels.

But this approach has other uses as well. Do you think that it'll be used to calculate which items one keeps on death? Instead of the 3 items with highest store value, it'll keep the three items which have the highest "real" value.

For most parts, it will protect players who die, because market value is never significantly below store value (strictly speaking it'll never practically be below the high alch value minus the cost of a nature rune), but it can be many times higher than store value, in the case of party hats, hundreds of millions of times.

The only problem is calculating the market value for untradeables. For example, fire cape would have next to no market value.

Its possible that both the store and market value will be taken into account, and the highest of the two used for death calculations.

Do you think something like this will be implemented?

Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?

I think that they will do this, as it will deal a major blow to lurers.... no fr33 phats for them....

As for the fire capes and stuff, i think that they may have it higher than market prices, maybe it will go in terms of how hard it is to get, therefore fire cape protecting over whips and stuff i don't know, they would probably stay the same....

as for RC pouches, LET US PICK THEM BACK UP OMG!

Edit: First post

Wow this is like the only recent post that has an idea I haven't thought of before. Yes, this is definitely a possibility. I find it quite logical and saner than our current system of using the shop price to determine what 3 items you keep at death.

This will actully work, i checked my items i keep on death screen and this doesnt look very right...

This'll be interesting...

Some items are only high priced because you lose them on death, such as dharok's helm.

That would cause some mayor price fluctuation, example: guthan spear will drop since it'll be kept on death. You lose the skirt instead. Now more people want skirt because if they die they lose it. Now skirt is high value and is keeped over other guthan parts. This circle will continue forever then:o

Methinks this is a possibility, it would finish luring for sure as the guy above said. This could be a step toward making items such as fire capes "tradeable" in a sence that the player has to buy it back or w/e.

I agree with you. It would be nice if fire capes became "tradeable"

Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

shop price of fire cape is around 33k, a clanmate of me h-alched it and got 35k

I don't think they would implement this. People would be constantly ranting because they lost something because of a change in market price. Although that wouldn't be that bad, because if it was now worth more by market price you would want to keep it. I'd like to see them do this.

This could raise prices of rares, as now if you have them you are unlikely to lose them.

I will be wearing my blue partyhat a lot more if it becomes kept in death. \'

I'll be doing the same except with my santa :D. Let's hope that they really do this. Although I wonder how theyre going to do this with untradable items :-k

I wouldn't like it to become tradeable myself, I worked for my cape and I would feel a bit disappointed if people coudl just buy it. If I die with it I would want to feel I should have to do the caves again instead of just buying it.

I hope this happens, it would cause a sudden peak of interest towards rares so I can off this stupid yellow hat

And guthans spear, which is one of the highest examples.

No calling phats stupid, especially yellow (the one I have).

If that actually happens, then I'll probably start wearing my hat more too.

How would it affect certain barrows items like Veracs helm and such, that have high prices BECAUSE they were dropped upon death. If they are no longer dropped because their price is high, then wouldn't demand go down a bit? Thus dropping the price, potentially under that of the next highest priced item in the set? @_@

I dont think you get the point, its about the firecape getiign more worth@kept on death

afbeelding4kopieae2.png

hm, if this happens prices of items will be played with heavily.

1 item of a set goes down(guthan spear), then another goes up slightly(plate), then that item is kept on death over a new item(skirt) all the sudden the skirt is worth more then plate every1 keeps loosing the helm and prices go up and now we are back @ spear loosing.

Very interesting, I never thought about items kept for death. I assume that they would use GE prices to help make things you keep more up to date. Rather then have the store prices that are entirely different than market prices.

Hmmmm...

Why could it not be the players choice?

Just have a means of hi-lighting/clicking on the items you wish to keep. Solves the problems of price varitions, between calculated and true wealth.

Or perhaps it might be viewed as just another way of dumbing down the game?

I posted in the wrong thread.... :-s
