~I need the following:~

-A topic to write a ~5 page History Paper on

I'm limited to:

-It being a person or event

-It taking place between the years 476 and 1815 AD

-It being interesting

-It NOT having anything to do with America, adventures in America, or American Indians

~Any ideas? I kind of want to see what you guys think. I'll probably chose a topic from the ones you post...~

Hundred Years War

War of the Roses

The Magna Carta

I mean honestly, you have 1400 years of history there.

The English Civil wars (there were three, although you might get away with it since it's commonly roled up into one). The second actually ended at the bottom of the hill I live on, next to the primary school I went to.

I found it fascinating.

~Thanks guys and girls. I was thinking about doing the 100YW from the start, but it's kind of a lot to cram into 5 pages, i think =S. Any other ideas?~

I thought it kinda looked like a toilet with eyes.

I would do something on the Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire. Lots of pillaging and cool stuff like that.

Vikings and their travels.

For example, they were the first to "discover" North America.

The black death in Europe, how it happend what effects it made.

Thirty Years' War, a war fought between 1618 and 1648 in current Germany.

There are many events for you to choose from, i would suggest Europe or Asia.

~There's not too much information on the Vikings. I like them, and i've looked into them a bit. The Thirty Years' War is a new one, i'll look at that. I'll check tomorrow to see if i can do the Black Death, and as for the Mongols, we just did like a month on them. I'm sick of them =S.~

Genghis Khan. one of the funniest deaths of any great ruler, and I'm sure you could write 5 pages about him. Double spaced, right?

~I'm not sure. I need to write like 10 pages of facts, then i stick it into one ~5 page paper. Single spaced, i'd guess, because it's formal.~

~As for Genghis, there's only a few more humiliating deaths, other than being a great horseman, and falling off of your horse, thus putting you in a critical condition, such as laughing to death (which actually happened.)~

Horseman? I thought Khan was the one who got drunk at a feast and choked on his own vomit while he was passed out.

~I'm 95% sure he fell off of his own horse, causing him great injury. He died due to those wounds...~

On August 18, 1227, during his last campaign against the coalition of Jin Dynasty and Western Xia, Genghis Khan died. The reason for his death is uncertain and speculations abound. Some histories maintain that he fell off his horse due to old age and physical fatigue, ultimately dying of his injuries. Others contend that he was felled by a protracted illness such as pneumonia. The Galician-Volhynian Chronicle alleges he was killed by the Tanguts in battle.

The Religious Reformations in Europe (Protestant and then Catholic).

We just learned about it at my school, I definitely know enough about it to write a 5 page paper on it. Hell, I did write a 3.5 page paper on it right before break, and that was only on the Protestant Reformation, not the Catholic Reformation.

The Winter War would actually be a really cool topic except it happened 100+ years too late for his assignment. :P

Here are some topics that I think would make interesting papers:

The Fall of Constantinople which ended the Byzantine Empire

The Siege of Vienna by the the Sultan Suleiman

Charles Martel defeating the Muslim invasion in France

The Peninsular Campaign by Wellington

Napoleon's Invasion of Russia

The Mongol Invasion of Japan and how the Samurai defeated them

The Battle of Lepanto where Venice defeated the Turks to gain control of the Mediterranean

Maybe something about the Knights Templar

The Battle of Sekigahara where Tokugawa made the big first step to establishing his dynasty and becoming Shogun

Agincourt or Crecy if you like knights
